Do I have to isolate two months after I’ve had it if I’ve been contacted?

Had covid at the end of may, was very sick from it for weeks. I’m only just recovering now.

I have just had a message off my beautician who has tested positive for covid, she is aware I had it initially two month ago so wasn’t sure to pass my details on to track and trace - she contacted me directly.

I’m confused about immunity here, do I still have to isolate even though I’ve only recently recovered from it?

For those who are interested, I passed my query to Hr and they said that legally I’m still allowed to come in to work because I wasn’t contacted via track and trace so they have not identified me as a contact. This surprised me really.

I explained the situation to them that the individual in question did not pass my details on to track and trace as she knew I had just recovered from it, so even though they haven’t rang me and with my line of work (clinical) I felt a moral obligation to obviously stay away for the ten days rather than go in to work and risking it. I usually work from home full time but I planned to go in Thursday and Friday as my manager has been asking people to cover the office ad hoc and everyone is on annual leave.

I’m not too bothered about having to isolate, I will if I have to was just wondering if it applied to me so soon!

My area was a hot spot for Delta variant when I had it, I got asked to take part in that eagle study but I was too poorly to participate. I was due my vaccine this evening and I’ve had to cancel it. I’m going to be absolutely broken if I’ve got it again I was so poorly and struggling with some long term effects now, I can’t get it again I’m gutted.

My beautician is the on out person who has been in my home since the initial lockdown last year. Her son had it about a month ago and she never had a positive test so it surprised me to hear the news, whether it’s been lingering around for a while since then I don’t know!

Was she wearing PPE. Where I live all close contact services are required to wear medical grade PPE. I'm aware the English regs have changed though.

@Largethighsbadeyes what a mess! Angry

@Northernsoullover no she wasn’t wearing a mask - it’s changed here now and it’s not mandatory anymore (even though I do still wear them in shops and in public places myself. She did ask though.

I’m starting to feel I’ve been very stupid now, I got told I’d be fine for a while afterwords and now I’m wondering whether I should have been a bit more on guard? I’ve only just started to feel like I’ve gotten my life back the past week.

@Lottie4

Legally you don't have to isolate unless contact by T&T, but it's a case of doing the right thing as hard as this may be.
What if school contact you and say that someone in the class has tested positive and you need to isolate?
Imnothereforthedrama · 21/07/2021 18:58

My point is you wearing a mask or not stop you catching Covid nor will it stop you isolating .
You can’t say well we were masks so we are fine .
People have been wearing masks for a year and still caught it .
Isolate op you’ve been in close contact with someone there is still a good chance you can catch it or pass it on .

Heartofglass12345 · 21/07/2021 19:17

She should have named you as a contact and you should be isolating. It isn't up to her to decide. You could still pass it on!

Themadcatparade · 21/07/2021 19:23

I don’t think a mask would have made a difference in his circumstance.

@AbsolutelyPatsy

in hospitals/carers, all wear masks
Exactly, they treat people who are covid + and can work with a colleague who is positive without knowing until the tests and we don't isolate. One shift it turned out that 4 people I worked closely with test + and because we wore masks and took 'precautions' I didn't have to isolate
Dutchesss · 21/07/2021 22:45

The risk of you having it is probably much less than your average non contact person. I wouldn't isolate unless contacted. Close contact NHS staff are allowed to work...

Lakeshore6 · 21/07/2021 22:48

The odds are in your favour OP, as long as you’re not contacted

The thing is, even if your immune system will fight it off because you're immune, you'll still be able to pass it on, for however brief a time.
