And I am scared in my garden as they pop out to chat to people that come to see them. Tell me I am a paranoid loon and I won’t get it on the breeze

Calm down.

thenakedmolerat · 18/07/2021 13:21

yeah, you're a paranoid loon ( seriously and I despair how we're going to get out of this mess when people think like you do)

DoucheCanoe · 18/07/2021 13:23

You are very unlikely to get it outdoors and keeping your distance.

SnarkyBag · 18/07/2021 13:23

🙄

Nicknacky · 18/07/2021 13:25

Genuine question, how have you coped over the last year when you are this anxious?

Have you been working, leaving the house etc?

userperuser · 18/07/2021 13:26

I know several people who have shared beds with symptomatic covid cases and not caught it so I’m sure you’re quite safe.

Whenthedealgoesdown · 18/07/2021 13:27

Get rid of the app if you have it or you might get pinged if your house is close

JellyBabiesFan · 18/07/2021 13:29

You are a paranoid loon

Wilkolampshade · 18/07/2021 13:30

No OP. You won't get it this way.

MegCleary · 18/07/2021 13:30

Have turned off tracing and only used it to check in places. Not going in anywhere since last week as hoping to get home to Ireland Friday and not been since 2019. Have coped well with the pandemic I think it’s just the thought of something happening and I can’t get home worrying me.

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 18/07/2021 13:32

Right, so if you have managed so far then you know yourself that this is just a blip and there is no issue with your neighbour.

dementedpixie · 18/07/2021 13:33

Yes you are paranoid and you won't catch it if you arent in close proximity to them

ineedaholidaynow · 18/07/2021 13:34

Wasn't there a case in Australia that was traced to outside transmission, but I assume very rare. If you have average sized fence and you are not going up close to speak to them then I assume you will be fine

Orf1abc · 18/07/2021 13:35

Do you think you're anxious because you don't want anything to put a stop to your trip? That would make sense, you've been waiting a long time. So while your anxiety is irrational (most anxiety is!), it's understandable in the circumstances.

Bobholll · 18/07/2021 13:37

My next door neighbours do as well. We have low fences & are good friends. Also, new build so we have small gardens. We’ve been in the garden all weekend .. the kids know they can’t go near the fence & they are playing happily in their own paddling pools while chatting/shouting to each other. It’s really peaceful 😂😩

It’s fine OP, just don’t get too close. As adults, are both sat at opposite sides of our gardens so there’s a decent gap!

Don’t miss out on the sun 🙌🏼

IncessantNameChanger · 18/07/2021 13:37

I had covid over new year and none of the other five people in my house got it, even dd and dh who had been sharing a bed with with symptoms while I waited three days for my PCR result.

It's highly contagious but it's still tricky to catch it even at very close contact for hours at a time over days

kowari · 18/07/2021 13:39

Why are you scared in your garden? Don't you have a fence, and they are in their garden?

rosegoldivy · 18/07/2021 13:40

DH tested positive the other week, despite living in close proximity in the house with newborn twins, a toddler and our DSD none of us caught it. YABU

ineedaholidaynow · 18/07/2021 13:43

@IncessantNameChanger the Delta variant is more transmissible though, I think that is why you are hearing ore about 3 or 4 cases in a classroom rather than just one.

A department in DH's office had a social event the other day (previously WFH) to meet the new trainees. Unfortunately, one of the trainees bought COVID with them and now about 5 of the department have COVID. Bet they all wished they had met over Teams!

MegCleary · 18/07/2021 13:43

My rational mind knows it’s ok. It’s the fear of something happening and I can’t go home.

I have covid. My neighbour still insists on leaning over my fence and talking at me.

It's really hot outside. The virus really doesn't do well in the warmth and the current weather will help slightly against the spread.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 18/07/2021 13:47

I read it was 40% more transmissible outdoors than some variants so I think I’d avoid being out at the same time if the neighbours weren’t that far away.

Vallmo47 · 18/07/2021 13:50

Aww, I don’t know why people just can’t be kind in their responses. Anxiety for anything is very often irrational, how about just reassuring people nicely?

Op, I felt like you many times in the past year. Turning off the tv and stop reading did wonders for how I felt. I’m sure you will get to go away, just carry on being careful as you are and it will be okay.

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 18/07/2021 14:30

My son had it. None of the rest of us had it.

AvaCallanach · 18/07/2021 14:35

Not with Delta.

In April DS 16 tested positive. No one else in the house got it, despite a 4 hour car journey unmasked the day before his positive PCR and DH and I being only single jabbed at the time.

On Wednesday, DD 11 tested positive. Since then, DS19 (single jabbed) and me (double jabbed, Pfizer, since May) have both tested positive. DS spent 15 mins playing a computer with her two days before first symptom. Because of their age difference they don't spend much time together and his bedroom is 2 floors away.

Delta is a different level of contagiousness.
