My mum tested positive Lft

wjg65ka · 18/07/2021 10:19

My mum has tested positive on an lft. She is CEV (heart disease, diabetes and asthma) she is double jabbed.

She has other disabilities that means she needs full time care and cannot leave the house without support. My sister lives with her, they've ran out of LFTS but my sister is assuming she's positive.

How do they arrange a PCR? They don't drive.

I last seen my mum on Thursday evening, she began having symptoms on Friday. Am I right in assuming we need to isolate?

Sorry for the questions that I'm sure you're all sick of. The rules around isolation are changing, I want to be sure I'm doing the right thing. I'm 35 weeks pregnant, with really bad health anxiety so I'm terrified

She can order a PCR via post.

toastantea · 18/07/2021 10:21

Postal test, your sister will be allowed to leave the house to take it to a priority post box

ineedaholidaynow · 18/07/2021 10:23

You can get postal PCRs.

In theory you don’t have to isolate unless the PCR is positive. Your sister does have to isolate as member of the household

aktat · 18/07/2021 10:24

Order a postal test online or call 119. She can leave the house to post the test in a priority post box.

Yes she needs to isolate too.

May many people have covid and are perfectly well.

Postal PCR.

GOOD LUCK

wjg65ka · 18/07/2021 10:34

I've ordered her a postal PCR and one for my sister too

@CallMeRisley oh gosh I hadn't realised I've reported it so hopefully mumsnethq can remove it as it's not giving me the option to do so

Baby brain and and anxiety 😟

I just got a faint positive. I've booked a PCR, I'm really quite anxious I'm almost 36 weeks pregnant and I've only had one jab.

So far no symptoms. Hoping it's a false positive but also being realistic that it probably isn't.

DH can't see a line, refusing to isolate and went ahead to work. I asked him would he isolate if I got a positive lft to which he said he can't afford to, which is absolute bullshit.

My mum tested positive Lft

Sorry you got a positive. My son's was a faint line and he tested positive on a PCR the next day.

Your DH though is very selfish. I'd find such behaviour a huge turn off. He should isolate and stop going round spreading it to other people 😡

ThatOtherPoster · 19/07/2021 07:58

There’s a £500 Gov payout for people who lose earnings through having to self isolate.

wjg65ka · 19/07/2021 08:01

@theologianextradionaire oh god I'm so put off him at the minute you wouldn't believe. I'm worried about my mum, heavily pregnant and alone with a toddler and positive LFT and he's moaning about not having enough money. We have more than enough savings to cover him taking ten days off, he'd get ssp too.

He wasn't this selfish pre-covid, or at least if he was I didn't notice it. Apparently the line is too faint and I'm exaggerating

@theologianextradionaire I'm going to phone his work place and explain.

wjg65ka · 19/07/2021 08:02

Thanks @ThatOtherPoster I'll have a look into that now

AbsolutelyPatsy · 19/07/2021 08:05

that is such a faint line, i wouldnt call that positive

NightOwl19 · 19/07/2021 08:05

You need to speak to your DH properly and not just phone his work place. I don't agree with him not self isolating but maybe as you've said you have very bad health anxiety he thinks you are catastrising this, get a PCR test if that's positive then yes he does need to isolate.

iwilldoitsoon · 19/07/2021 08:06

@AbsolutelyPatsy

that is such a faint line, i wouldnt call that positive

Any line, no matter how faint, indicates a positive result.

Assuming OP that you read it at the 30 minute time and not later?

wjg65ka · 19/07/2021 08:08

@iwilldoitsoon that was exactly 30 minutes. It's very pink in person too

OP posts:
theologianextradionaire · 19/07/2021 08:10

Any line no matter how faint is a positive.

Hope you manage to get him to see sense. Whilst he might not be worried about catching it, by carrying on regardless he is putting vulnerable people at risk.

Wishing you and your Mum a quick recovery. Take care.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 19/07/2021 08:17

That is definitely positive. To give you some positive news re your mum our 18yr old CEV (double jabbed) son got covid recently and got it no more badly than the rest of the unvaccinated people in the house. On the downside you are most probably going to get symptoms and so is your husband and toddler. In our house (11 people) DD who had one vaccination or Pfizer got very mild symptoms, baby, 4 yr old and 7yr old had a 3 day illness (36 hrs of fever) and then runny nose, older children got a slightly worse illness, teens got a 2 week illness - one week quite poorly - this is what CEV son had. DH and I - double vaccinated with AZ had mild symptoms - tummy upset and runny nose. Your husband NEEDS to come home now and isolate.

wjg65ka · 19/07/2021 08:29

@onlyreadingneverposting8 so sorry your household got covid but I'm glad your CEV DC symptoms were no worse than everyone's, I'm hoping my mums get no worse than they are now. She has a headache, sore throat, bad chest and aches. She also has cramps and is struggling to eat because of the upset tummy Sad

So far I've got no symptoms but I am aware they will hit at some point, so nervous for them.

DH ended up coming home after I rang his work. I've had a PCR so hopefully it'll be negative
