How many women of child bearing age have had vaccine?

ParkingFeud · 13/07/2021 21:43

I'll admit I'm getting myself in a state about vaccines here. I've been reading about changes to menstrual cycle after vaccination and furious that these concerns seem to be brushed off. I've been on one of the gov stats pages that says there have been 20,000 reports of changes to periods out of 41,000,000 women who have been vaccinated. Is there anywhere I can view how many of these 41,000,000 are of period having age?
I'm so worried by reports of people saying they've missed ovulation or haven't had periods after. What if your body just can't get back into a rhythm?! Surely the stress of a vaccine shouldn't cause months of changes? I'm so so close to cancelling first vaccine appointment and don't know what to do. I've never been anti vaccine and I'm surprised at myself. Argh.

I did notice some changes to my first period after the first vaccine but was completely back to normal by the second cycle. I think my body was adjusting and I suspect it’s the same with lots of women.

Souther · 13/07/2021 22:11

I've had both Pfizer vaccs.

No problems with my periods at all

StillUpholding · 13/07/2021 22:11

I’m double jabbed with Pfizer. Period bang on time after both and conceived on the next cycle after the second.

woodfort · 13/07/2021 22:11

No change whatsoever after first one and I’ll be having the second.

However, I am also not happy that it takes a long time for women to be believed that this is real and not happy that it’s dismissed as irrelevant either.

Also, a period being a week late is hardly such a severe side effect that most people would even report it? I don’t think they should be allowed to report how many people have reported vs how many vaccinations for minor side effects like this.
The only way to get a real picture would be for them to survey women and report that percentage. Also presumably you’d only want to survey women that aren’t on hormonal contraception and are actually having “normal” cycles to get a true picture.

Anyway, I am hoping to TTC again later this year and will 100% be getting my second.

37, double jabbed with AZ and no change at all. I was hoping for a lighter period but no luck Grin

Thewayshetalks · 13/07/2021 22:13

First jab only, period after was late by 2 weeks, period late again this month, my period pain was terrible for the 2 weeks I was late after my jab and it’s looking that way again

Xiaoxiong · 13/07/2021 22:17

Double jabbed and nothing changed - I have a Mirena but no changes at all.

But when I had double pneumonia and pleurisy 4 years ago, my periods were all over the place for a while after, and I also had what people are calling "long covid" now - was told it was normal fatigue following an illness and I just had to rest up and not push myself too hard too fast. Totally recovered now and periods back to normal! (Or they would have been, if I didn't have a mirena!)

User1357 · 13/07/2021 22:18

I’m of child bearing age, double jabbed.

No problems, other than I had two very heavy periods, no way of knowing if it was from the effects of the vaccine, but quite frankly, I’d take that over heart and lung damage 😊

Tealightsandd · 13/07/2021 22:22

Covid has been associated with menstrual change.

It's also now being linked to erectile dysfunction.

Tealightsandd · 13/07/2021 22:22

Oh and yes I'm double jabbed.

TheVolturi · 13/07/2021 22:23

I nipped into boots yesterday for some cocodamol for my migraine. I had my second pfizer last week and mentioned that to the pharmacist as I believe it's triggered my migraine. She asked about my cycle! Funnily enough, I was late, and it was a lot heavier, and I had awful spots during my period, I am 40 and I have not had spots since I was early 20s! The pharmacist told me to yellow card the changes to my cycle as she said there has been a lot of people affected like that, and it needs to be logged as a possible side effect.

RunningFromInsanity · 13/07/2021 22:26

27, regular as clockwork, no change, no side effects from vaccine.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 13/07/2021 22:27

Child bearing age here but pregnant when I had the vaccine, so wasn’t having a period anyway.

However, my cycles were fairly regular albeit slightly longer than average, they would vary by 2 days. Last May (just as we started TTC) they went completely wonky and stayed that way until I fell pregnant. They changed from an average of 35 day cycles to 39-54 days. I don’t think I’ve had covid and I’m pretty low risk in terms of exposure even if I was asymptomatic. But something messed with my cycles. I remember googling at the time and seeing an article about women experiencing a delay to their cycles and it was proposed it was the massive shift to lockdown and stress of the whole situation. This isn’t to minimise what other women have experienced with the vaccine but sometimes cycles can go wonky with other outside factors.

Songoftheseas · 13/07/2021 22:33

41, one (reluctant) jab, waiting for my first period which should turn up next week all being well. I’ll admit to being concerned but then I was worried about the general safety of the vaccines anyway and lack of any long-term data on side effects.

shangelawasrobbed · 13/07/2021 22:34

No changes to my period after my first or my second jab (Pfizer).

Only had one period after my second jab and then found out I was pregnant the month after. All looked okay at the 12 week scan so getting pregnant so soon after the vaccine doesn't seem to have had any negative effects, but it's still relatively early days.

HappilyHadesBound · 13/07/2021 22:34

I'm 38, had my second jab on Monday. I started a period on the same day I had the first vaccine, then had a 49 (seriously!) day cycle before the next period which was then incredibly painful and heavy.

EasterIssland · 13/07/2021 22:36

36yo. Breastfeeding. Pcos Have had 2 az. Period delayed by a week I think after 1st dose. Fine since then

Rtmhwales · 13/07/2021 22:36

Child bearing age here and trying to conceive. First period was a week early. Second jab made period two days late. Ovulation has stayed on track for its normal date with no issue. Super regular here and track ovulation through OPK and BBT religiously.

Goldenoodle · 13/07/2021 22:36

Double jabbed age 30.
I've had 3 periods in the 5 weeks after my second jab. My last one lasted 10 days.
I've never had this before in my life. Always been pretty regular.

Verite1 · 13/07/2021 22:37

No change to mine.

TedMullins · 13/07/2021 22:38

32, only single jabbed so far but had period a week-ish after vaccine and it was normal - no change. I don’t want kids though so if it made you infertile I’d sign up to be triple jabbed. If you remain unvaccinated and die of covid you won’t be having kids anyway! 🤗

mafted · 13/07/2021 22:43

I'm 40 had two doses and had no change in cycle. DD is 22 had both doses and had no change either.

TammyS86 · 13/07/2021 22:45

29,double jabbed. First jab ended my period early and have had completely normal cycles after second jab and thereafter. Ovulated each time and will TTC at the end of the year

gurglebelly · 13/07/2021 22:47

Double jabbed, child bearing age, no impact on periods at all (sadly!)

Titsywoo · 13/07/2021 22:48

Surely a huge amount of women who have been doubled jabbed at this point are either peri or post menopausal age so likely to notice period changes anyway?
