It makes me really sad - just scrolling down all the titles. We're all in such a state.

That's why I'm here too. I'm not criticizing anybody.

Of course it's a very unpredictable time. It's a scary time. But I'll have to make this political - I"m sorry - BJ and our shit government - they're not making this any easier. I place the blame firmly on their shoulders. Will they ever be held to account for the damage they've done to our country and it's people?

I certainly agree with your sentiments about the government. Absolutely disgraceful.

SonnetForSpring · 13/07/2021 19:15

Maybe they will be held accountable in future. Will probably take 20 years though!

MidnightMonsterMunch · 13/07/2021 19:15

I think that’s understandable. The people most likely to use a forum about covid are the people who are very anxious about it. If you’re over it I’d suggest you’re far less likely to be posting.

Dustyboots · 13/07/2021 19:20

I'm not over it @MidnightMonsterMunch- not at all. Please read what I wrote in the opening post.

I'm with everyone who is feeling anxious - just so sad that our government is making this all the more painful.

I agree with you. I felt very optimistic a few weeks ago but am starting to feel nervous again now.
There is plenty of anxiety on this board but also lots who feel totally differently. Makes me wonder why they even bother coming over here, to be honest!
I too agree with the sentiment that we wouldn’t be here if we were over it. I’m not over it yet; it’s been too traumatic.
I mistrust this government so enormously, that I don’t believe a word they say. I can’t help worrying about what’s around the corner for us all.
I expect I’ll get flamed for sounding anxious but some of us are just born worriers. If I had nothing at all to worry about, I’d be worried that something would appear to make me worry! I envy those who aren’t worried.

Homeontherangeuk · 13/07/2021 19:33

I'm guilty of a couple of the anxious threads.... 36,000 plus cases today & 50 deaths is very sad... Up in until today the deaths had been relatively low & I genuinely fear what's to come... I'd prefer to be prepared for more restrictions & lockdowns rather than a snap u turn...

Dustyboots · 13/07/2021 19:33

I can't see that anyone would not be worried @Lupinhere37

If you can think and imagine - you must be worried. The only way to avoid worry about all of this would to be a master of zen and being in the moment, kind of brainwashed positive or just a person who blocks worries out - I can't see any other way.

I agree. I ‘m tempted to hide this board as I’m sure it feeds my anxiety.
A lot of worried people come here looking for reassurance but there are also others who seem to delight in spreading doom and doom.
There is a Good News thread though for those who want to spread positivity!

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 13/07/2021 19:40

I'm not at all anxious about corona virus- and I don't usually read corona threads or post on them. This one just popped up on active.

I'm anxious about other things though. Swings & roundabouts I guess.

sashagabadon · 13/07/2021 19:46

I was just thinking how much calmer the boards are these days Grin
It’s been a lot more manic in the past.
And you have to remember that no one is going to start a thread saying “ had dull day at work, sandwich for lunch, didn’t think much about Covid, now I’m off to bed” and that’s probably the majority of people

Greyrootszerohoots · 13/07/2021 19:51

I agree with you. And the way the government communicates with the general public feels like an abusive relationship. The cycle of leaking news and no comments followed by announcements about announcements. People are at their wits end.

GirlAloud · 13/07/2021 19:55

This is nothing.

If it’s real anxiety you’re looking for, try the ‘Preppers’ board. It’s a whole different level of batshit.

MitheringSunday · 13/07/2021 20:01

I've thought this from the beginning of all this, watching from abroad. The British govt's communications have been less to inform than to manipulate. The fear created going into the first lockdown (to support the complete about turn that was necessary because of the insouciance preceding it) has had a lasting effect.
Katya213 · 13/07/2021 20:19

Damage? Should you not be pointing your finger over at a certain country in the far east?

duffeldaisy · 13/07/2021 20:44

The worst thing is the gaslighting, imo. That's when I get most worried. It seems, in the middle of a pandemic (or rather, hopefully towards the end of it) that it's reasonable to be concerned to some extent. I've actually, despite the nightmare of working around home-schooling, felt more reassured during the lockdowns because it felt like everyone was on the same page: It's worrying, so we will be extra careful.

It's this "do what you want, but be careful!" attitude that is the worst, because people translate that differently, and there's no support. And the message from this awful government is that it's all safe, when the numbers are so high, or that kids don't get it when they are getting it all around in real life.

Dustyboots · 13/07/2021 20:51

They employ behavioural scientists specifically to do this manipulation don’t they @MitheringSunday?

The behavioural scientists seem to have more sway and influence than the actual other scientists ie Sage and Whitty.

No anxiety from me and never has been at any point. I find it interesting as in general most MNers are not usually people I'd interact with in real life so it's such a different reaction to my reality. No one I am friends with IRL is anxious.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 13/07/2021 21:07

The current government and Boris Johnson gives me anxiety not Covid, they are truly the most incompetent, shady, spineless and morally corrupt bunch of people. We couldn't have had a worse PM in a time of crisis.

PrincessNutNuts · 13/07/2021 21:11

We all have people we're worried about, don't we?

My shielding parents won't be able to go anywhere and do anything when cases get higher than they've ever been before.

(Next week probably)

And kids are having just the shittiest couple of years aren't they?

I am worried about my family.

But mostly I'm frustrated that we keep being put in this position over and over again.

Pootle40 · 13/07/2021 21:13

I just don't get the anxiety. 50 deaths with Covid, not necessarily due to Covid in a country of 66 million. Switch off the news and MN.

Pootle40 · 13/07/2021 21:14

@Waxonwaxoff0

Same. Not once in the last 16 months have I been worried about Covid. You need to live for today IMO.

I disagree. If you get worried about every tiny thing that could happen, you would be in a constant state of anxiety.

I don't worry much about getting hit by a car, or my husband losing his job, or my kids being diagnosed with something awful or my house catching fire or whatever other things could happen. Obviously I do some things to mitigate these sort of things happening, but at the end of the day you can't control everything.

Covid is just another thing to add to the (very very long) list of bad things which could happen, which is just part of being human.

PrincessNutNuts · 13/07/2021 21:27

"Judge your own risk and make your choice " adds to the stress too, doesn't it?

Most things aren't a choice.

And it's not easy to judge risk.

For example: the shielders have been advised to avoid people who aren't double vaccinated.

But no advice on how to tell people's vaccine status just by looking at them.

MarshaBradyo · 13/07/2021 21:28

I don’t feel anxious

I think we are moving away from lockdowns and that is what I’d like to avoid

This and the gaslighting. If they were upfront and acknowledged impacts, even if they did nothing about them or said there was no appetite to fund x y z, that would be easier to handle.
