And what did you do when you found out on of your household had it?

My dd has it, I've got asthma and am overweight so quite worried. My dp now has a symptom.

We've just been washing hands, sanitising surfaces, opened windows etc

Ive ordered some supplies coming tomorrow but I feel like it's just a waiting game now.

My partner and brother (who currently lives with us) both had it and I didn’t catch it. Didn’t isolate from either of them (obviously didn’t leave the house either).

Lechessoir · 10/07/2021 12:51

DH and DC had it.
I never developed any symptoms despite caring for them all. Was also sleeping next to DH during it as by the time we found out he was nearly recovered.
I could have been asymptomatic though.

userperuser · 10/07/2021 12:53

DS has it with a temp, lethargy and body aches but no coughing or sneezing. He isolated in his room but I tended to him and practiced general hygiene throughout the house, nobody else caught it. I think it was because there was no coughing or sneezing but who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

Was this recently? I keep hearing that it's more likely now that everyone in the house will catch this new variant

That's a really good point!

I think with this new variant the main symptoms are headache, sore throat and runny nose along with the temp.

Dd also isn't coughing

@CheddarGorge
No, this was just after Christmas.

TheAwfuITruth · 10/07/2021 13:06

My son (early 20's, one jab) had it. None of the rest of us (double jabbed or no jab child) caught it.

We were careful with hygiene, dropped the hugs Grin etc but all isolating together, it was difficult to keep distanced. I was a bit nervous as I'm CEV, but all was fine. He wasn't ever really ill with it either.

We're in a high delta area btw.

Mrbob · 10/07/2021 13:07

In Australia with the delta variant (and obviously limited immunisations) there has been close to 100% household transmission

HBGKC · 10/07/2021 13:21

@Mrbob how interesting: do you have a reference for that?

worktrip · 10/07/2021 13:21

DH stayed in the bedroom with en suite alone for 10 days. We didn't catch it, but this was months ago so not the delta variant which is far more transmissible.

FindYourPorpoise · 10/07/2021 13:46

I had it, as did our 2 year old but my partner didn't, despite being in close proximity to us both.

blahblahblah321 · 10/07/2021 13:51

DS1 had it over Christmas and none of us got it from him. We did isolate him as soon as he felt unwell (he's 17 so happy to be stuck in his room with his bed, phone, Xbox and room service Grin)

We were very careful with handling anything that he did - so we gave him a box to put dirty plates etc in, carried them down to the kitchen and used gloves to put in the dishwasher. Likewise with clothing.

Something must have worked as the rest of us are fine - he's the only one to have ever had it

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 10/07/2021 14:07

It seems to vary quite a lot.

I had it last year, DH didn't. (Or was asymptomatic.) Shared a bed throughout and zero distancing from each other, we didn't have the room.

BIL and his family all got it at the same time. They didn't distance from each other either. (Kids too young.)

A friend of mine caught it at work, her daughter subsequently got it but her other two kids didn't come down with it.

Another friend's son caught it at college, his brother got it but the rest of the family didn't. But then a couple of weeks later my friend caught it separately at work, from someone else, and then his wife caught it too.

Starlitexpress · 10/07/2021 14:14

I had it last year and didn't know, so no social distancing and DH didn't get it.

fresiaboquet · 10/07/2021 15:59

DD (15) had it at Christmas. 8 of us in the house at the time. She didnt even particularly isolate from us and we were all together a lot xmas eve/xmas day/ boxng day (when she actually was tested) No one else got it.
She has now, on Tuesady, tested positive again. No one else has got it this time yet either Although me and dh are now double jabbed.

glosbucks · 10/07/2021 16:04

DD 17 got it before Christmas. DH, DS, and myself did not get it. We did not socially distance from her and all lived together normally.

She was not coughing or sneezing but had vomiting, sight changes and extreme tiredness.

CazM2012 · 10/07/2021 16:05

DS tested positive in January (who knows how considering he hadn’t had contact with anyone outside of our household from December) none of the rest of us (2 adults 3 other children plus my mum who is in our bubble) caught it, tested positive. He had no symptoms at all.

Flowerfairy2020 · 10/07/2021 16:07

8 year old DD tested positive (asymptomatic) 11 days ago, after outbreak in her class. All self isolated for 10 days but neither myself, DH or her brother developed any symptoms and tested negative.

SquashMinusIsShit · 10/07/2021 16:07

My manager's partner has it, she's been taking daily LFTs & so far is still negative.

A friend's daughter had it first & did pass it onto her son unfortunately

Moooooveover · 10/07/2021 16:09

My partner came down with symptoms Thursday (which I had initially passed off as a hangover from the semi final the night before) and after receiving a positive lateral flow his PCR came back positive also. I have been double jabbed and was absolute fine until 5pm yesterday evening when out of no where it knocked me for 6.

Looks like I have now caught it too. We’ve both been struck with body aches and pains, tight chests, high temp, sweats, sore throat and no taste.
I was naive thinking I would be invincible but clearly even jabbed you can still be a target.

Figgygal · 10/07/2021 16:10

What’s your vaccination status?
Not me but a friend had it a couple weeks ago their daughter brought it home from school. Daughter had it barely symptomatic, single jabbed parent got it awful cough, headaches, fatigue
Double jabbed parent dodged it

CeeceeBloomingdale · 10/07/2021 16:10

My DC has (had?) Covid. Almost certainly delta variant due to various factors. Today is day 10 of isolation so tomorrow we are all free. There are 4 of us, the rest of us haven't caught covid, have been PCR checked and have just done lateral flows that are all negative. My DC's friend had it a few days earlier and no one else in their household caught it either.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 10/07/2021 16:12

To add DH is double jabbed, I has my 2nd jab the same day as DC had a positive test so really had no extra protection at that point and other DC is too young to be jabbed.

BelleClapper · 10/07/2021 16:12

Me and DH had it in January. The kids had no symptoms so we never got them tested but I’ve just assumed they had it. Maybe not though.

30degreesandmeltinghere · 10/07/2021 16:13

I have Covid. 3 dc do. 2 dc and dh don't... Bizarre imo!!
