Yes or no? I feel a u turn coming on as it seems the majority of public are not happy to lift all restrictions according to government polling.

So wondering what you think?

Marsha, I don't know why you argue with the facts so much. Wont change the outcome. Don't trust boris et al. They are dull of crap.

Oh you I remember that line you take when you’re not making sense

I listened to Whitty did you?

SonnetForSpring · 11/07/2021 17:29

I heard what he said but that was the version boris wanted you to hear. Not the version whitty wanted to say.

The Netherlands are shutting nightclubs as that is where the spread was happening. Mainly in under 25’s.

Delatron · 11/07/2021 17:30

@2boysand1princess It was talked about at the press conference. The ‘if not now when?’ Speech. The normally cautious Whitty also confirmed this is what they want to happen. It makes sense.

It was a huge mistake to push the second wave in to autumn last year.

SonnetForSpring · 11/07/2021 17:30

Marsha, I'm not going to argue with you. You are very closed minded.

Oh right.

Yes of course he does

The CMO having to do the that.

If that’s your take whatever really. Just dump the scientists and listen to your head.

Laughing

At someone who thinks they know more than the CMO

SonnetForSpring · 11/07/2021 17:32

This is what whitty apparently wants to happen. What I really think he wants is restrictions in winter so therefore he has agreed to lifting them now because he knows we will not get through winter without restrictions.

@Delatron

My interpretation of personal responsibility is managing your own risk. Hence football fans singing and hugging. More cautious people will be still avoiding crowds.

It doesn’t mean everyone carries on wearing masks and modifying their behaviour to protect the vulnerable.

But if too many people do the hugging and singing and the getting too close and the NHS starts struggling, the governement will have to step in

Personal responsibility doesn't mean a free for all and let's keep going.

And unfortunately, while lockdown should only ever be emergency procedure, if people don't take their personal responsibility seriously lockdown could happen again.

Except then, the government will be able to blame us. They gave us our freedom and we ruined it because we couldn't be sensible. So it's our fault restrictions will come back.

And I genuinely hope they dont come back. But the attitudes I see, makes me think it will.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 11/07/2021 17:43

People won't comply with the lockdowns wrt to not mixing with their friends and family and they know there's no way to enforce this, even with all the curtain-twitchers with hot fingers from reporting.

Unsoliciteddeckpic · 11/07/2021 17:44

Theres already back tracking happening.

Really oddly, it's being done while alot of people are preoccupied with the football.

screwcovid · 11/07/2021 17:44

Yes

TotorosCatBus · 11/07/2021 17:45

I think they will because if any remain then the blame will be on the business keeping social distancing or whatever rather than the government.

musicalfrog · 11/07/2021 17:47

Yes! Restrictions are causing more problems than covid at this point.

Sadless · 11/07/2021 17:56

I think it will go ahead then if deaths go really higher they will say its because people didn't act responsible. At this point people are fed up and we need some normal life.

We don't live alone. We rely on each other for safety

Go and tell that to homeless people.
