I haven't got the NHS app as my phone is too old.
Manager has just text to say she's tested positive and is informing everyone she's been in close contact with. I was in a small office but masked for a day with her two days ago.
We've both been double vaccinated and wear masks at all times at work.
My sister gets married tomorrow so wtf do I do?
Do I need to self isolate on the grounds of a text or only if NHS contact me?
I've just done a VCR test and it's negative
Why oh why now?!

I’d take a proper PCR test and if you do drive anyone, make sure the windows are open.

In terms of risk, luckily without symptoms and that it was a couple of days ago, you are probably OK. However sitting in an office for 5 hours - you know your risk would be so much less if you opened two windows and didnt’ take off your masks? As taking off your masks for more than a few minutes really shoots up your risk as you will be breathing in the air of your colleague. For the future - dont’ take off masks and open windows!

@summerweddingfun

Schools are advising people to get tested if they are a close contact with a positive person and for a wide range of symptoms that are not listed on the Gov/ NHS website. That may be so but it's not in the Government guidance. PCR tests are only for people with symptoms ( unless for travel purposes)
If you really want a test you can book one you are choosing not to.
summerweddingfun · 09/07/2021 08:38

I would think very carefully about whether you will be in contact with vulnerable people and how you'd feel if they caught Covid from you.
Oh I am so, so thinking carefully honestly. I've done nothing else since I saw the text at around 4am and hence my panicked post here early morning.
The wedding is in a church where I believe everyone is still currently distanced. The reception is semi outdoors and people will sit at tables of six and be served a meal. There will be no dancing as per current rules. I'll be sat with DD ( double vaccinated and has also had covid and lives with me) and GS. Assume everyone will be obliged to wear masks if they need to move about or go to the toilet.

Even if you can go, can you all mask up in the car and have windows open?

Basil2021 · 09/07/2021 08:40

Honestly I’d go. Maybe that makes me a terrible person.

summerweddingfun · 09/07/2021 08:42

Even if I lied to go and get a test today I wouldn't get the results until at least tomorrow anyway and we're due to leave very early morning to travel.

Can you get all the details of dates, times, test and results and get in touch with T&T yourself?

summerweddingfun · 09/07/2021 08:44

Actually the test booking criteria on the website clearly say you can book a test if you're a close contact even if you don't have symptoms yourself
Ah OK thanks it must have changed since the early days then

You don't need to lie to get a test.

Even if it doesn't come back in time for the first journey, it might come back in the middle of the day if you got on with it early this morning. Wouldn't you rather find out that you can either relax, or that you need to stop having contact with others, rather than this anxious middle ground? Putting your fingers in your ears doesn't make it go away.

I know she tested positive yesterday and had the test yesterday too. She had no symptoms on Monday but assuming she had them yesterday.
I do imagine T&T will be in touch this morning

This is also the risk people take getting married when restrictions are still in place. I would do what's legally required when it comes to you isolating, you can work it out and know whether you need or not. It is rubbish but it's spreading like wildfire again at the moment.

summerweddingfun · 09/07/2021 08:50

You don't need to lie to get a test.
That was my mistake. I thought you had to have symptoms to have a PCR test at a centre
I'm getting on to it now

We had results back the same day, hope you get a quick result

A lot has changed since the early days. Confused
NavigatingAdolescence · 09/07/2021 09:01

@summerweddingfun

Neither of you have played by the rules if you sat maskless eating and drinking in close contact in an office. We actually have no choice, there's nowhere else. I don't mean constant guzzling, I mean around two cups of tea and a sandwich throughout a day which clearly has to be done without a mask. And during this time we made sure we sat back to back ( not sure that makes any difference though)
It doesn’t in a confined space.
summerweddingfun · 09/07/2021 09:01

Test booked for 9.30- 10 at local walk in site
Thanks all so much
Will update as soon as I know anything

Good luck.

I’d think less about the rules and more about the risks.

Personally I’d still be nervous driving elderly people around but if your second jab was a while ago you might be fine.

NavigatingAdolescence · 09/07/2021 09:14

You can still pass it on with both jabs.

And you can have it without symptoms.

What’s the vaccination status of the elderly relatives, and do they have underlying conditions? They are at greater risk from the OP than she is from them.

gratedbeetroot · 09/07/2021 10:12

You need to find out when her symptoms started. If you were in contact within 48 hours before they started I wouldn’t go.

Taking a test today is no good as you might not have enough viral load for a positive test today but you could tomorrow.

summerweddingfun · 09/07/2021 10:40

Ok so I've had a PCR test. I'm going to pray I get the results by tomorrow morning. I've contacted parents and told them I don't want to take the risk of driving them and my brother is now going to do this. DD and GS live with me currently so we'll start driving if the test doesn't arrive and I'm sure I'll have the result of it by the time I'd need to go into the church at 2. If positive we obviously turn straight back. If negative all cool. If no test result I'm not yet sure. So far test and trace haven't contacted me.

Both parents are double vaccinated with no health conditions and haven't had Covid

SpringRainbow · 09/07/2021 10:55

Most results are coming back very quickly at the moment.

I hope you get your results back soon.

OneForTheRoadThen · 09/07/2021 11:02

My ex has got a nasty case at the moment and he's double jabbed, no health conditions and only 38. Our young children have been exposed to him so are isolating with me which means I'm practice I have to isolate too as I can't leave them home alone. It's inconvenient and irritating but it's the right thing to do. It's not fair to run the risk of passing it on to anyone and if people don't isolate then it will just go on even longer

Blueberry40 · 09/07/2021 11:48

That’s great op, at least it will be peace of mind for you and you know you’re keeping your loved ones safe. It’s such a pain but worth it in the end. Keeping everything crossed for you that it’s a negative result 🤞Flowers
