I haven't got the NHS app as my phone is too old.
Manager has just text to say she's tested positive and is informing everyone she's been in close contact with. I was in a small office but masked for a day with her two days ago.
We've both been double vaccinated and wear masks at all times at work.
My sister gets married tomorrow so wtf do I do?
Do I need to self isolate on the grounds of a text or only if NHS contact me?
I've just done a VCR test and it's negative
Why oh why now?!

As far as I understand it you should isolate and get a test
A PCR test is only for people with symptoms
I've taken a LFT which is negative. I think that's all I can do unless I'm contacted by T&T

Where I work, they say 48 hours before symptoms. Not sure what the official guidance is.

Hope you can go to the wedding.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/07/2021 08:07

You can't rely on a LFT,they're useless. No way would I go in your situation and definitely not driving elderly people around !

Rosiestraws · 09/07/2021 08:09

You can get a pcr test if you've been notified you've been in close contact with a person who's tested positive, even without symptoms

Choux · 09/07/2021 08:11

So your mgr has been in contact with ten members of staff at various times this week and has been doing work she could have done remotely but the company insisted the work was done in person?

That sounds like a company that might struggle to operate next week due to all the self isolation required. Whoever told her to visit so many staff when it wasn't necessary didn't show much foresight.

Hope you can conclude you aren't required to self isolate OP.

Rosiestraws · 09/07/2021 08:11

Also just to add a close friend works in a care setting and they do LTF test twice a week and pcr once at work... LTF were both negative, PCR has come back positive. No symptoms. So they really can be unreliable :( I don't know about the rules re PPE though..can't find anything online about this!

ILookAtTheFloor · 09/07/2021 08:13

I would beg my colleague not to name me to T&T and just go to the wedding.

However I am an evil and very bad person when it comes to Covid.

It's certainly surprising that the health of your family means nothing to you. Not everyone's like you, thankfully.

@summerweddingfun

I know the manager will have been in contact with at least ten members of staff this week. She plays completely by the rules and is highly professional and risk averse when it comes to Covid. It is our organisation that has insisted she travel around from place to place rather than work at home which she could have easily done. I do know she will have given all contact details as required by Test and Trace and I'll stay near my phone all day. Fortunately I'm not working today and don't need to have any contact with anyone. I didn't ask when she started having symptoms but she said I wasn't to worry and to enjoy the wedding
Neither of you have played by the rules if you sat maskless eating and drinking in close contact in an office.

Would be prudent for you to wear a mask when driving your parents tomorrow and keep your distance from others at other times.

Schools are advising people to get tested if they are a close contact with a positive person and for a wide range of symptoms that are not listed on the Gov/ NHS website.
ineedaholidaynow · 09/07/2021 08:19

@ILookAtTheFloor how would you feel if you made vulnerable or elderly people ill at a wedding? All because they are vaccinated doesn’t mean they could be poorly. I think in medical terms ‘mild symptoms’ just means you don’t have to go to hospital, so covers a wide range of symptoms

ILookAtTheFloor · 09/07/2021 08:21

As I said @ineedaholidaynow, I'm an evil person.

Very evil and bad.

summerweddingfun · 09/07/2021 08:22

We actually have no choice, there's nowhere else. I don't mean constant guzzling, I mean around two cups of tea and a sandwich throughout a day which clearly has to be done without a mask. And during this time we made sure we sat back to back ( not sure that makes any difference though)

That may be so but it's not in the Government guidance. PCR tests are only for people with symptoms ( unless for travel purposes)

You are double jabbed. You had Covid in January. It's unlikely you will catch it.

Not sure if you could still transmit it to others.

This would be my fear in attending the wedding.

ineedaholidaynow · 09/07/2021 08:25

@ILookAtTheFloor would you seriously not care? What about norovirus would you happily spread that about too. Chickenpox amongst vulnerable people too. Or is just COVID?

ILookAtTheFloor · 09/07/2021 08:28

@ineedaholidaynow did I miss the bit where the OP says she has symptoms?

The OP is fully vaxxed, if this was 16th Aug she wouldn't have to isolate anyway.

But as I say I'm evil. Evil and very bad. Call me the granny killer.

bigbluebus · 09/07/2021 08:29

Someone my DH works with went out on Saturday evening with friends. Due to the nature of the job they do daily LFTs. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday were negative. Wednesday positive plus a few mild symptoms. The PCR test was then positive. This person has had close (PPE'd) contact with 4 vulnerable - although vaccinated - people prior to testing positive. The whole department has now been closed even though other staff have been social distancing.

I would think very carefully about whether you will be in contact with vulnerable people and how you'd feel if they caught Covid from you.

StylishMummy · 09/07/2021 08:30

OP go to the wedding.

You're double vaccinated, have no symptoms and a negative LFT. There's no way I'd miss going with that situation!

muddledmidget · 09/07/2021 08:30

Another reason is if a health care professional asks you to. As a HCP I'm asking you to book a PCR test before attending your sister wedding. There, now you can legitimately book a test online!
Usplusone · 09/07/2021 08:33

I worked in a small office (whilst pregnant too). Had what could be defined as close contact with 2 positive cases over that time but because of the mask rule was told I did not have to self isolate. I was sceptical but have to say we had no known transmission within the office. We were fastidious with wiping down surfaces, well ventilated, approved by IP&C etc.
I'd have thought you'd be ok given the PPE. Though I appreciate you might worry about the risk you pose to wedding guests. I wasn't really going anyway during my time in the office.

Rosiestraws · 09/07/2021 08:33

Again, @summerweddingfun you can get a pcr test with no symptoms if close contact. .

Contact with a positive case but no nhs app
Usplusone · 09/07/2021 08:34

*going anywhere

Rosiestraws · 09/07/2021 08:35

Not sure if that works but the link is here also

www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

ColettesEarrings · 09/07/2021 08:35

@summerweddingfun Actually the test booking criteria on the website clearly say you can book a test if you're a close contact even if you don't have symptoms yourself. It doesn't matter how you know you're a contact. You clearly are so you are eligible to book a test.
