Positive Test post vaccine, how are you feeling?

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 03/07/2021 07:43

I am mid 40s, have had both AZ vaccines and tested positive on Tuesday.

I have been wfh since last Feb and not really going out apart from food shopping. DH has been going out for work and he appears to have caught it and passed on, all 4 of us now have it.

Started feeling really bad Tuesday night and have not got any better, with the exception of the fuzzy head not feeling quite so fuzzy this morning. I still have headache, aching body, sneezing, coughing and a skin crawling feeling. This morning my legs feel like they could give way.

If you've tested positive after the vaccine what day are you on (since positive test) and how are you feeling?

Hoping that this will pass soon.

Forgot to mention the delightful sinus pain and the fact that my face feels like it may explode any minute as well!

Not me personally but 3 of my friends have tested positive this week after one vaccine. One had hayfever symptoms, one a cough for a day and one felt really rough for about 48 hours but now much better. They are all mid 30's. Hope you feel better soon

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 03/07/2021 07:55

Thanks @OliveTree75 it all seems to just be so variable, which logically I guess it would be. Just rubbish!

That’s awful. What was the timeframe between your second dose and contracting the virus?

Shelby10 · 03/07/2021 08:00

Hello. Tested positive on Thursday. Had both vaccines. Started like hayfever cough, bit of sore throat, then a full day of aching, especially my back and legs. Tired. Now sneezing a lot but most other symptoms almost gone. Been 5 days since I started with the very mild cough. Working from home and only needed one day off as was manageable the other days.

Shelby10 · 03/07/2021 08:01

I had me second vaccine 3 weeks ago. So tested positive approx 2 weeks after my second dose.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 03/07/2021 08:05

@Housecar I had my second jab on 19th June and tested positive on 29th June

@Shelby10 glad it's not dragged on for you. I have been off sick since Weds, absolutely no way I could work.
I was also ill after both vaccines, they totally wiped me out.

Just dropping in to be nosey.
DH isolating, after a stupid decision by one of his colleagues has resulted in 4 of them getting heavily exposed. Double jabbed, but also reacted badly to both vaccines.

Guy at work, which from his age I'd guess is double vaccinated, is still off 3 weeks later. Of course, he might not be vaccinated for a host of reasons, I'm just assuming.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 03/07/2021 08:21

Nose away @PeonyTime I'm interested in anything anyone has to add!

My employer is amazing but i am worried that secretly they will think I am exaggerating...that sounds so stupid when I write it as they know I'm not a liar I'm just over thinking!

2nd jab 5 weeks ago - tested positive on Weds after waking up with sore throat and blocked nose and got a positive on LFT so we all went for PCR. Myself and son (who was already isolating after close contact at after school club) tested positive.

So on day 4 and it still feels like a bad cold. Tired, Streaming nose, fuzzy head and a bit of a cough. Slathered on the vicks yesterday evening as was feeling a bit chesty.

Having a couple of lemsips in the day and a shit of night nurse before bed.

Hoping this is as bad as it gets but can’t shake the anxiety of it suddenly getting worse 😬

DarceyDashwood · 03/07/2021 08:23

Shot of night nurse🙄

Frazzled2207 · 03/07/2021 08:26

Totally anecdotal but some early 40s friends of mine had it recently.
The wife- single vaccinated by a few weeks - felt exhausted for 3 days but then very quickly recovered
The husband - not vaccinated at all- extremely ill, in hospital for 9 days, nearly got put on a ventilator

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 03/07/2021 08:26

Sorry to hear that @DarceyDashwood I know what you mean I keep thinking surely I should be feeling better by now but wake up feeling worse than previous day.

DH was typically not that poorly apart from one bad day.

I'm also slathered in Vicks!

Hope you are feeling better tomorrow and that your DS is ok.

Tested positive on Tuesday, have had first jab. Started off as sore throat and a little cough, now three days later it has gone completely but my nose is stuffed up and I can't smell anything. It's a strange sensation (or lack of). I keep sticking my nose in vinegar, perfume, but I can't smell a thing! Not a bad thing when it comes to changing my toddler's nappy Smile.
Hopefully that passes too. But it has made me more vigilant- I managed to avoid it for a year and going for a birthday drink got me in the end!

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 03/07/2021 08:27

@DarceyDashwood Grin I didn't even notice!

SnoozyBoozy · 03/07/2021 08:29

I know this isn't quite the question, but DH and I have both had both vaccinations, and last week we came down with what has felt like a horrific cough, really sore throat, no energy, loss of smell and taste and really bunged up/sinusy. MIL has had exactly the same symptoms (we saw her 2 weeks ago) and is also double jabbed. I would have sworn we all had covid, but we've all tested negative (LFD and PCR). It's just so strange, as these are classic symptoms!

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 03/07/2021 08:30

@Frazzled2207 yes I have thought how much worse it might be if I hadn't had my jabs.

@bathtime17 my smell is fine but DD has lost hers. Every cloud with the nappies but hope it is back soon.

I actually tested positive on my birthday, didn't even get to have a drink, what are the bloody chances of that?!

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 03/07/2021 08:32

@snoozyboozy it certainly sounds like you have had it, all symptoms I recognise. I have no knowledge of accuracy of tests but sounds to similar to me.

I had my second vaccine back in April and tested positive on Thursday. Felt a bit dizzy and now have a streaming nose, fuzzy head, feel really quite tired and have an aching back. Would have just thought it was a cold if we weren’t in an area with really high cases.

DarceyDashwood · 03/07/2021 08:36

@IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble thanks - I hope you feel better soon too. (Love the user name by the way - another TH fan here!)

My DS is fine generally thank goodness. Very snotty and a bit of a cough but still full of beans. Was on day 7 of his first isolation when we tested positive so going to be a long isolation for him 😬

I can WFH but didn’t do much since Weds as don’t feel up to it. Really hoping to be feeling better by after the weekend. Will be interesting to see if DH develops symptoms as we haven’t been isolating from him at all other than I’ve been sleeping in spare room.

Very thankful to be double jabbed. I had a far bit of anxiety about getting my second dose (AZ) but so glad now. Have been very careful throughout so feels quite surreal to have actually caught it!

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 03/07/2021 08:50

@welljuhnelle hope glad it's not been too bad for you, hopefully all better soon.

@DarceyDashwood I can totally understand that, I am gobsmacked that after managing to come through the whole awful episode unscathed medically that we have all got it now.

And thanks, got to love TH Wink

Higher than you’d think! I got my positive result on my birthday too - bloody text woke me up at 6.30am. This was before being vaccinated though.

I do hope that all of you who currently have symptoms or positive results recover quickly. Statistically, the chances are that you will have mild symptoms and recover quickly if you are vaccinated. There are always outliers - but the evidence does seem to be that severe cases in vaccinated people are very rare, and almost always in people with immune issues and/or significant other health issues.

Olivess · 03/07/2021 09:15

Tested positive on Thursday. Had a headache and bit of a sore throat from Monday. My toddler had tested positive a few days earlier after an outbreak from nursery. Started to feel worse yesterday (Friday) and went to bed last night feeling awful - achy, headache, cough, sore throat, runny nose. Woken up this morning and still feel rubbish - not got up yet. Hoping the worst of it will pass over the weekend so DH can look after the children.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 03/07/2021 09:15

@PuzzledObserver clearly higher than I thought!! That's bloody rubbish isn't it?!l

I had Shingles recently, before both jabs and i really think that has had an effect on my reaction to the jabs and covid. I had reoccurring shingles pain after both jabs.
