Not having vaccine but being bombarded with calls

I’ve made an informed decision not to have the jab at the current time. I may change my mind at a later date, but that’s currently my decision.
I’m 32 and fairly low risk although I’m a little overweight.
I know I’d be given Pfizer, but I’ve read many things about it causing period changes. I have some real problems with my periods at the best of times and I don’t feel able to put myself through it. I’ve also read there’s a link between possible heart issues and the vaccine in young people.
I have lots of ongoing anxiety about my health and I know I’d be a mess after having it, so I just don’t want to put my mental health through that.
I’m pretty sure I had it back in March 2020 too.

Anyway, I’m getting constant phone calls from my GP and lots of letters/text messages, I’m ignoring them for now, but I’m not sure whether I should call them and tell them I don’t want to have it right now? Then hopefully they’ll leave me alone.

I just ignored the calls and texts and they stopped. I expect they will start up again but I'm good at ignoring.

Sixtonskip · 01/07/2021 21:28

Contact your GP and ask them to code on your record that you are declining the vaccine. This will take you off their eligible list so they stop contacting you but you will still be able to request the vaccine at any time if you decide to have it.

Notthissticky · 01/07/2021 21:34

Respectfully OP, if you haven't discussed your medical situation and possible risks to your health of having the vaccination, then you haven't made an informed decision. Your research won't make you better informed than your GP is on these matters. Your GP practice will continue to contact you because it is so important that everyone who can get vaccinated does get vaccinated, to protect those who cannot for genuine medical reasons. That said, if you haven't told them they will continue calling you.

Parker231 · 01/07/2021 21:50

@oohmethumb - why would you ignore someone trying to do their job? If you don’t want the vaccine let them know otherwise they will continue to try and contact you by phone, letter or text.

oohmethumb · 01/07/2021 22:11

I also ignore the people who are trying to sell me kitchens, new windows, or think I might have been in an accident that wasn't my fault. They are also trying to do their jobs.

I haven't chosen not to have the vaccine. I've been advised not to have it. The systems don't seem to recognise this.

KimmyAndMe · 01/07/2021 22:19

Shame on your GP doing his job to keep people alive 🙄

Have you informed people you intend meeting up with that you have chosen not to take the vaccination devised to protect them?

smileyplant · 01/07/2021 22:27

If you click on the text you receive from GP you can click on the option to not have the vaccine and they will stop. I did this as I've booked it through the national vaccination programme instead and there is also an option to select to say this on the form via the text

Shame he won't be getting his fee for the jab isn't it.

Many people, especially elderly or disabled people are feeling increasingly pressured by these phone calls. Some elderly people don't realise they can decline.

It's an invitation. When someone hasn't accepted the invitation via several letters or texts, it's bordering harassment to persistently phone them.

shazzz1xx · 01/07/2021 23:03

I’m in West Yorkshire too and they keep hounding me and I’ve opted out I just delete message now and ignore them x

It’s your decision to refuse the vaccine. Hope you also refuse NHS hospital treatment should you need it.

Yes I'm sure your concern is totally for Op's friends and nothing to do with you worrying about unvaccinated people's potential effects on you.

I don't care what you hope. Whether I had the vaccine or not or need hospital treatment is absolutely none of your business.

Why on earth would I refuse nhs treatment anyway? I've paid in for fucking years and this sort of hand wringing virtue signaling is actually quite ridiculous.

I have had 4 letters now, several calls and texts. There is nothing in the letter to say how to decline. It doesn't even list it as a choice.... it is just 'ignore letter if you have had vaccine or have an appointment booked'. Nothing about what to do if you don't want it.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 02/07/2021 00:42

@Parker231

DH is a GP - his surgery have taken on an additional four staff to call, text or write to patients who have not had their vaccinations.
Really?

Of course I’m worried about the potential effect of unvaccinated people on me. I’m not concerned that I, as a fully vaccinated individual, will catch covid from them. I’m worried that the high number of anti-vaxxers in some areas will lead to us being under restrictions for longer.
