Would you get a dose of Pfizer in pregnancy?

I delayed trying to conceive in order to get the vaccine. I’ve had two doses of Pfizer. I am clinically vulnerable and likely to get extremely ill if I caught Covid-19. I was so excited to TTC in the coming months.
I’ve just read in the news that booster vaccine doses will be rolled out from September. I am wondering if I need to FURTHER delay TTC. I haven’t stopped crying since I read the news and realised I might need to delay for many more months. Would you get a third dose of Pfizer while pregnant? I know it’s recommended for pregnant women and hundreds of thousands have had it... but we can’t know longer term effects yet?
I am devastated - what would you do?

@Lagirl20

Yes. They are doing in the USA.

Girlmama3 · 30/06/2021 19:09

I’m 21 weeks pregnant and had my first jab at 14 weeks. I’m just waiting for my second. Baby is doing great.

Over 100,000 pregnant women in the us have had it and there are no bad reports.

Fieldings15 · 30/06/2021 19:09

I've had one dose of the Pfizer while pregnant, and will get the second dose while pregnant too. I wouldn't delay ttc if I were you, but it's a decision only you can make. There are risks with everything - to me the risk of having covid outweighed the risk of having the vaccine. I also have some underlying heath conditions although not serious enough to have required shielding. It's worth bearing in mind that even if you wait, we'll likely be needing boosters for years to come anyway x

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 30/06/2021 19:12

Yes

Garman · 30/06/2021 19:14

I've had two Pfizer doses while pregnant, beats catching Covid in third trimester and risking serious consequences. Definitely not worth delaying ttc or crying over.

greenmacaron · 30/06/2021 19:26

I’ve had my first two Pfizers too and I’m pregnant.

I will absolutely get a booster if I’m due one during pregnancy. By then there will be hundreds of thousands before me who’ve had it, if there are issues we’ll know.

Covid in late pregnancy is dangerous

Rtmhwales · 30/06/2021 19:30

I'm Canadian and all of my pregnant friends have been vaccinated during pregnancy since it's highly advised here. So far so good!

Bluebellpainting · 30/06/2021 19:54

I delayed trying to conceive our second while I was vaccinated as at that point that was the recommendation. But I would happily have my booster when pregnant if needed. Data from the states (where they have been vaccinating pregnant woman a lot longer) shows it to be safe and there are risks of covid itself in the 3rd trimester. There are suggestions that this will be an annual vaccination for those who are clinically vulnerable/work in healthcare so you may want to factor that in to any decision you make.

WaitingForNormality · 30/06/2021 20:12

Yep - in fact I did!
Had Pfizer when I was in third trimester and now have a 4wk old healthy baby

RefuseTheLies · 30/06/2021 20:13

I had two doses of Pfizer in pregnancy. My baby is 3 weeks old and doing well.

ahayavsbs · 30/06/2021 20:14

Yes, I'm not sure why you wouldn't to be honest.

MySocalledLoaf · 30/06/2021 20:22

Yes

Clarkey86 · 30/06/2021 21:38

I had my first at 7 weeks and can’t wait for my second.

Boosters have only been decided for 50+ currently - presumably you’re younger so you could be waiting a while if you put it off, and then boosters could be yearly like flu.

I really wouldn’t put it off. There is absolutely 0% evidence there is any risk, and many many pregnant women have now both had it and had healthy children.

Clarkey86 · 30/06/2021 21:39

Also, the contents of the vaccine is broken down and processed in your body very quickly so it never passes through the placenta.

Jellybean792 · 30/06/2021 21:51

I had my 2nd Pfizer at 6 weeks pregnant and no side effects. Just had private scan at 16 weeks and everything is looking great!

There's no evidence that any of the vaccines cause harm for TTC/pregnancy and many thousands of pregnant women have had the vaccine with no reported negative effects. Remember it might take a while to conceive too, perfectly normal for it to take up to (and over) a year.

EarlGreywithLemon · 30/06/2021 22:44

Yes. We are thinking of TTC, and I really hope to be pregnant and have my booster in the autumn (I was group 6 for the first two doses).

sheusesmagazines · 30/06/2021 23:56

Trust me, don’t delay TTC if you’re otherwise ready. There will be a lot more data then about pregnancy safety. Plus, you don’t know what else might happen in the future! There will always be a reason not to TTC if you look hard enough. If (god forbid) it takes you longer than anticipated to fall pregnant you may regret all the months you waited.

Timeturnerplease · 01/07/2021 06:21

I won’t get my second dose until around my due date, so these last few weeks of term are going to be very nail biting for me hoping that I don’t catch covid from anyone in my class.

If you’re fully vaccinated then I’d go for it to be honest - who knows who boosters will be for, but there’s good data about the protection afforded by two doses.

LittleRa · 01/07/2021 06:27

Yes I would, I’ve had the first dose of Pfizer and while I’m not pregnant, I am breastfeeding my 4 month old.

Cafeaulait27 · 01/07/2021 06:35

Yea I would. I’m 25 weeks and have had one does of moderna. Second is coming up soon. Baby is doing great!

MrsXx4 · 01/07/2021 06:39

Yes. Had my first dose and second lots booked for around my due date, all my pregnant friends have also had theirs. Having covid in pregnancy would be far worse! I had pneumonia back in May, I was 26 weeks pregnant and that was terrifying enough!

hamstersarse · 01/07/2021 06:44

I really wouldn’t have the vaccine if pregnant.

There’s just no data on it, they haven’t even been around for 9 months so there is no way of knowing what impact they may have on a developing foetus / child.

I know time flies when you are having fun, but they started the trials last July.

12 months ago. Plenty of women will have given birth after receiving the vaccine at various stages of their pregnancy.

MRex · 01/07/2021 06:53

You've already had two jabs, so you've already had most of the possible side effects. You might not be pregnant by the time you're offered, or you might send for an antibody at the time to see if you need it, or additional studies might reassure you. Try to conceive, and decide later if you need the vaccine or not. There are too many variables to put your life on hold.

MoorGirl · 01/07/2021 07:02

I've decided not to have it for now (19 weeks). I am concerned re longer term effects on babies/children, which of course can't be known about yet. I am fortunate to live in a very low case area so perhaps an easier decision to make due to that.
