I had the vaccine almost a full week before I was back at work.
Still couldn't lift my head on the day I was due back so had that day off.
Worked the following day but I was still feeling like crap.
My boss was off for 2 days following it too.

lalalapurple · 17/06/2021 13:26

My husband got a fever from it and was really unwell for about 24 hours, so I had to take half a day off to look after my child.

I was fine after mine (although if my job involved lots of lifting I wouldn't have been able to do it)

lalalapurple · 17/06/2021 13:27

Some of the people I worked with also felt like rubbish- they did a bit but skipped some meetings and stuff (easier when working remotely)

PlanDeRaccordement · 17/06/2021 13:27

My DH was sick off work the day after his second dose. Pfizer jab.

faithfulbird20 · 17/06/2021 13:28

Was it paid leave or unpaid? Really hope employers cater for this...side effects of vaccine are awful...my husband looks like he's on his deathbed...and he's quite fit normally...

My assistant has a couple of days off earlier this week.
My friend had a week of in April .

All public sector, don’t know if that matters, but my organisation has a time recording code for Covid related lost time - sickness, going for the jabs, looking after isolating children.

BitchIAmFromChicago · 17/06/2021 13:28

Quite a lot of people at my workplace! My OH had 2 days off. I would say about 8 members of staff in 20 have been off at my place.

hamstersarse · 17/06/2021 13:29

~50% of people at work seems to have had to take about 24 hours off

faithfulbird20 · 17/06/2021 13:29

@PlanDeRaccordement my husband feels unwell after the Pfizer 2nd dose too...first one was okay...I've been taking paracetamol every 4 hours to just stay on my feet and look after the kids...

I didn't but that was because I had mine on a Saturday morning. I wouldn't have been fit to work on the Sunday if it had been a working day. Monday was tough but manageable WFH. I was fine after the second dose though. My company pays sick leave as normal for time off for jab side effects.

PlanDeRaccordement · 17/06/2021 13:33

It was paid leave, but not in U.K. so maybe not relevant to you.

Many friends and coworkers were also ill for a day after second dose Pfizer jab. My DH slept all day. He felt very tired and had aches/muscle pain. But the next day he was ok apart from a bit of a sore arm

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 17/06/2021 15:46

DH had a paid day off, but we are in the US so perhaps not helpful to you in the UK.

Musicaltheatremum · 17/06/2021 15:48

Quite a few of our staff were off. It was paid leave. Its a GP surgery so we couldn't not pay them. Have decided I'll get my booster ..if it comes on a Friday!!!

BeyondMyWits · 17/06/2021 15:53

I did not feel unwell at all. DD20 did not feel unwell - had a sore arm, no time off. DH had 3 days off with the first jab and 1 day off with the second. They are his only days off sick in 27 years, they were paid.

He really is never unwell, so when he said he wasn't going in we were practically ready to call an ambulance!

Confuzzlediddled · 17/06/2021 15:56

my company has a policy of paid leave. its also excluded from any absence metrics, they are keen to ensure people aren't put off from having the Jab due to worries about being off.

Geamhradh · 17/06/2021 15:58

2 days off with headache from hell after second dose.
Contractually paid sick leave, so, yes, obviously paid.

daytimeknitter · 17/06/2021 16:22

My DP had eight weeks off work with Reactive Arthritis following first dose of AZ. He was breathless after jab 2 but no time off.

tsmainsqueeze · 17/06/2021 16:48

I left early 2 days , dragged myself in as i was needed but have good bosses, felt ill for 6 days, much , much worse than when i had actual virus.
Then had mild headache for 4 weeks.
I was dreading the 2nd but hardly knew I'd had it .

LizzieSiddal · 17/06/2021 16:50

Yes I had four days off, I felt like I had flu after the Pfizer jab, then woke up on the fifth day and felt absolutely fine!

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 17/06/2021 17:16

No time off, large team and no one had anytime off.

Castlepeak · 17/06/2021 17:23

I had to take 3 days off. My employer provides extra paid leave specifically for vaccine side effects and time to get the shot if you can’t schedule it outside of work hours. Not everyone needs it, but it is available if necessary.

motogogo · 17/06/2021 17:27

Scheduled mine for Friday afternoon, was ok by Monday

BunsyGirl · 17/06/2021 18:57

Yes, one day and then another when my GP sent me to A & E. Took 8 weeks to recover though. My cousin had three days off work.

nordica · 17/06/2021 19:02

My boss had half a day off but it's her company so easy to take time off when she needs it.

landofgiants · 17/06/2021 23:48

Yes, but only one day. The recovery has been pretty slow, it's 8 weeks today and I've just realised I'm starting to feel ok, yay!
