Sorry that should've read Delta hospitalisations!

Great news!

Oly4 · 14/06/2021 18:23

It is brilliant, even after one dose!

TheVampiresWife · 14/06/2021 18:23

Isn't it? Goodness knows we all need some positive news today!

DumplingsAndStew · 14/06/2021 18:24

That's great.

But it's still a long, long time before everyone is vaccinated.

Slipperrr · 14/06/2021 18:25

@DumplingsAndStew

That's great.

But it's still a long, long time before everyone is vaccinated.

Not really, unless you mean globally and not just here.

But look at how effective just one dose is! It won't be long at all before all adults will have had at least one dose, a few weeks probably.

It's good.

It's still hard to be anything but nervous, it is so tiring.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 14/06/2021 18:34

Great news :) I am in Wales where all adults have been offered their first jab (need more to take up the offer) so am hoping hospitalizations stay low.

SecretKeeper1 · 14/06/2021 18:34

Brilliant news and good to see the % has levelled up between Pfizer and AZ. Thanks for posting!

OliveTree75 · 14/06/2021 18:36

Super news

I wish England would hurry up and do the same!

Pfizer definitely has a strong edge on AZ though.
starfishy · 14/06/2021 18:48

That is brilliant! Could you post the link to the article?

Bloody Jason Leitch said this morning that one dose was only about 30% effective. Hmm

SecretKeeper1 · 14/06/2021 19:07

Pfizer definitely has a strong edge on AZ though.

Does it? After one dose maybe, but there’s not much in it after two, and many AZers are double jabbed now, or due it soon if they’ve brought it forward. It’s very good news for both vaccines, very encouraging to read.

It is in terms of infection.
wheresmymojo · 14/06/2021 19:19

I'm so confused because I've literally just finished reading a news article that has quite different figures on Sky.

wheresmymojo · 14/06/2021 19:21

This says something quite different.

I'm sure those 90%+ are vs the Alpha strain, not Delta(Indian)

As @PracticingPerson said, were those figures regarding infection as opposed to hospitalisation?

Against infection, see pic above

Pic isn't loading for me.

The figures in the screenshot in the op are regarding hospitalisations. So even if you do become infected, it's likely to be very mild and won't require hospital treatment.

Brilliant in terms of both far fewer cases leading to serious illness/death and pressure on the NHS.

Ah, okay, sorry.
