Are wealthy areas prioritised for Pfizer and poorer areas given AZ?

I'm talking about the 40 plus group.

I live in between an affluent and a disadvantaged town.
The affluent area has always received the Pfizer vaccine at its vaccine centre and the other area has always received AZ. I have had both AZ doses.

I have a relative who lives in a different affluent area in another part of the country. She's had Pfizer and seemed surprised we received AZ.

I would like to hear how allocations are decided. Is it a post code lottery or are there those of you in well to do areas only offered AZ and vice versa?

Had mine done at a hospital and got AZ. If I had had waited for GP invite and had it done more locally, I would have got AZ. The only people I know living anywhere near me who got Pfizer are people in vulnerable groups or under 40. I definitely do not live in a poor area. Maybe I should start a post asking if only exceptionally rich and exceptionally poor areas get Pfizer for over 40s, and relatively wealthy and relatively poor areas only get AZ Grin.

no. it depends on facilities. inner city practice delivered pfizer for three drs surgeries. ours is mixed as the practice area takes in a wedge of the city and is in an old estate area with mixed housing.

I live in what is regarded as the wealthier area of my borough and we have only to my knowledge ever had AZ here. Whereas the other end of the borough has had a mix of vaccines.

I would say the poorer areas in London have more Pfizer because they have more walk in centres set up. Pop up vaccination hubs to encourage take up.

I live in Belgravia and had AZ.

epidemiologically this wouldn't actually make too much sense

vaccine hesitancy (tying in to not wanting to take AZ over Pfizer) is associated with lower SES - so lower income/education level etc so if someone was going to attempt to divert types of vaccine to different areas of the country based on demographic, the converse would make a lot more sense!
