Estate agent broke Covid agreement..wwyd?

I won’t name the estate agents yet...
The agreement we have is that anytime anyone is in the property the agent will be there. Also, that if anything needs to be touched, only the agent will do and will be wearing gloves.
Today I came home and the place was a complete tip. The buyers had been over, the agent had let them in and then left them at the property.
The front door was unlocked, there were leaves and grass all over the floor, lots of furniture had been moved, the floor in one room was wet, there was a towel on the floor in the bathroom, clothes had been moved around and most distressingly my bed was not how I left it.
The estate agent admitted they were left alone immediately and apologised. I have sent an email with photos attached. I’m really uneasy they were left here alone. I’m in the process of checking everything is here (if it’s not I am uninsured as they didn’t break in to the property... so fingers crossed, I’m sure they didn’t take anything) but also because of Covid, I don’t know how long they were here, who was here or what they touched......
cleaning everything!!

That is absolutely disgusting! If they have broken the agreement, sack them off and get a better one. Must be horrible to have people messing up your house.

Flaunch · 04/06/2021 19:33

I would be absolutely livid about that and would name and shame at every opportunity Shock

Watapalava · 04/06/2021 19:33

i'd be furious from a security point of view but from covid side i think your reaction is a bit irrational if i'm honest.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 04/06/2021 19:35

I probably wouldn't worry about Covid but I'd be absolutely fuming at the estate agent acting like that and would definitely sack them.

Againstmachine · 04/06/2021 19:35

Not only the estate agents the buyers seem like utter.

Id get rid

Amelia666 · 04/06/2021 19:37

I wouldn’t be fussed from a covid perspective perspective personally, however the mess you describe sounds like they shagged in your bed and then had a shower!

Which is utterly unacceptable!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 04/06/2021 19:42
Shock

This is completely unacceptable! Whilst them touching things without gloves wouldn’t bother me, if they told you that’s what they’d do, I’d expect that to happen. There was absolutely no reason for them to touch anything other than doors.

Idontwantarow · 04/06/2021 19:44

@Amelia666 that is what is giving me shudders!!!

I’d be furious.
Not from COVID point either, hope your putting a big complaint in

Chocoqueen · 04/06/2021 19:45

WTAF?! When I was viewing houses I felt guilty asking to look in a cupboard.

Like others I wouldn't be too worried about covid but it's completely out of order that the EA wasn't there. Was it their first viewing or have you accepted an offer already? Either way I'd be fuming.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 04/06/2021 19:45

There's no covid risk but what on earth were the buyers up to?

I would name and shame the agent, that's really unprofessional and they need to be reported to their head office

Yes this! I hate being watched by an estate agent or anyone but then there's respect. I would literally take 5 minutes quick glance on my own sounds like they had a party.
CrumbsThatsQuick · 04/06/2021 19:49

Wet floor? Towels moved? The bed? Moving furniture? I'd want an explanation of what on earth they were up to?

MadeForThis · 04/06/2021 19:49

Totally unprofessional. They must have been left alone for a while to have had sex in the bed then showered.
Can't think of any other reason for that type of mess.

Did you have any other offers on the house? I would consider pulling out.

winterchills · 04/06/2021 19:50

Definitely complain I would be fuming! The thought of someone being that cheeky in my house 😡

Librariesmakeshhhhappen · 04/06/2021 19:58

They've been on your bed and the shower and towels have been used. Who the fuck does that!?!

Do you have contact details of the viewers? If they've put an offer in and were close to purchase, they may have given you their number. I would suggest to them that you had nanny cameras in the house and would they like to explain their behaviour.

Yes do that!
Hallyup6 · 04/06/2021 20:08

Covid wouldn't bother me but my buyers wouldn't be my buyers and my agent wouldn't be my agent anymore. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from the pair of them.

warmandtoasty2day · 04/06/2021 20:12

totally gobsmacked

woodfort · 04/06/2021 20:20

Like everyone else, the Covid side of it is irrelevant but the (prospective?) buyers have wet towels and moved furniture, what on earth?

Have they made an offer and are actually buying your house and on a 2nd or 3rd visit? In which case, I would be refusing them as buyers if you think you can risk going back on the market.

Idontwantarow · 04/06/2021 20:33

No they’ve made a good offer and we are quite far down with the sale.
I don’t think I would be able to get that offer again.
I was shocked but delighted when they put that offer in....

eurochick · 04/06/2021 20:39

It's not unheard of for dodgy estate agents to let their mates use an empty property as a shag pad...

That's frustrating. But on the brightside, if you do go ahead with the sale to them at least you don't have to worry about cleaning before you leave (and can take all the lightbulbs)

I'd still be making a formal complaint to the EA though.

CrownKettle · 04/06/2021 20:52

Shame they made a good offer as I’d be really tempted to pull out of the sale and suck up the lost legal fees, etc.

Snapespeare · 04/06/2021 20:56

I'd suggest that the EA buys you a new bed and bedding and towels as a minimum of a goodwill gesture.
