I am happy this evening
www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2021/05/30/uk-vaccine-passport-plans-scrapped/

Ideally I would like them to go one step further and write a “covid freedom bill” (inspired by in part Florida) that:
-banned private business requiring vaccine proof
-ended all mask mandates
-ended all covid restrictions
-any future covid restrictions can be challenged in court if they are not proportionate
-parliament must vote on all future covid restrictions
-pardoned all people prosecuted under the coronavirus act 2020

But very good news in my opinion and a huge step in the right direction.

I'm a bit worried about your level of fear of unvaccinated people. I suggest you start getting used to the idea that you're going to come into contact with people who for whatever reason might not be jabbed. It's people with Covid that you should be worrying about not people who are vaxxed or not.

What makes you think I'm talking about myself?

I've been on long distance train journeys (essential) during lockdown when cases were high, had drinks and food out.

I support freedom - for all, not just one way.

That means freedom for unvaccinated to go to establishments happy to take them.

And also freedom for other places to take extra steps - including, if they wish, requiring vaccinated status (unless medically unable).

My suggestion back to you. I suggest you get used the fact that some private businesses might choose to protect their vulnerable customers and staff - those less protected by or unable to have vaccines. Get used to them exercising their freedom to do that.

Tealightsandd · 31/05/2021 19:59

No it doesn't defeat the purpose. Those vulnerable people - vulnerable because a medical condition means they can't be vaccinated - will be safer if everyone else in the establishment is vaccinated. It reduces their risk.

@strangeshapedpotato

Haha - this is from the Telegraph - the newspaper that announced we had hit herd immunity on April 7th.

They ran a similar headline last September declaring a second wave impossible due to millions of asymptomatic infections in the UK.

And they're still harping on about the Great Barrington declaration and trying to pretend that the herd-immunity plan that nearly resulted in half a million deaths was actually a good strategy to follow.

Now that Brexit is gone, they've been sniffing around for another bunch of selfish, simple-minded, idiots to cheerlead for and it seems they've settled on covid-deniers/anti-vaxxers.

Thankfully, the UK government will almost certainly do whatever they NEED to do to deal with this epidemic and if that means vaccines to go to the pub, then that will be the law.

But even if the UK gov does nothing, anti-vaxxers are going to find the world is slowly closed off to them as existing H&S legislation is used by campaign groups to force businesses to check that customers do not endanger staff or other customers.

I very much look forward to a future in which anti-vaxxers are dealt with in the way we once dealt with witches - but in the meantime I'll simply chuckle as they're forced into the periphery of civilised society.

Boris has continually listened to/pandered to these people who have been wrong every step of the way.

So, people who can't have the vaccine = safe, and get treated as vaccinated and allowed everywhere... and people who choose not to have the vaccine = deadly Covid carrying biohazards that should be shunned from society. Right.

The TelegraphHmm

That newspaper just gets worse and worse. It’s headlines seem to be wishful thinking rather than actual fact.

No one else seems to carry this story...
