Can't cancel vaccine and can't attend

DD is isolating (awaiting results) pretty sure not Covid as did a LFT which was negative but as she has a cough and cold symptoms we have done the PCR because of school, results should be back tomorrow and I am hopeful it's negative. We have already all had Covid last year and it was different.

Anyway I was booked for vaccine dose 1 today, I obviously can't go as she is symptomatic but I went to try and amend the booking online and it won't let me. Called 119 and no answer there.

Anyone know what happens? Will I be allowed to re-book at some point?

Did you book through the website/119? I went to mine but there was such a long queue I came home again. I was able to go back online the following day and rebook x

Pubbles123 · 18/05/2021 10:43

Yes I booked through the website. I wonder if I will be able to rebook tomorrow then maybe it's just because the appointment is today that it wont allow me.

I just cancelled here and booked a new test

www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

NLondondiva · 18/05/2021 10:46

Is it at a large vaccination centre? I would just turn up tomorrow and explain. At the centre I volunteer at, you would be allowed to have it.

flashylamp · 18/05/2021 10:48

Why can't you have it?

Viviennemary · 18/05/2021 10:51

Go to the centre and explain. They will advise whether you can have it or not. I think if you have no symptomw you will be fine to go ahead with it.

Pubbles123 · 18/05/2021 10:55

@flashylamp I can have it just not today as we are awaiting a covid test (DD) result so I think the rules are I have to isolate too! The centre is 11 miles away so not exactly convenient to go down and ask but maybe I can just turn up tomorrow and chance it (if test is negative obviously!!)

If you are in the UK, go on the NHS coronavirus vaccine booking website. There is a number to call if you need to cancel, not the one you quoted.

I’m 95% certain you don’t need to isolate unless DD test comes back positive. Contacts of cases only become contacts once positive confirmed.
Obviously it is your personal choice to isolate until result known but if seems very likely to be a cold I would attend if I were you.

IndigoC · 18/05/2021 11:08

That’s odd. I thought you could rebook online, even on the day.

whatswithtodaytoday · 18/05/2021 11:11

@flashylamp and @Lempt Get DD has symtoms so the household has to isolate. She can't go to a vaccine centre when her DD potentially has Covid.

whatswithtodaytoday · 18/05/2021 11:12

*Her DD

Forgottenyeti · 18/05/2021 11:20

Interesting replies...

When it snowed and loads of people round here couldn't go on the day they said leave it and rebook tomorrow.

Alarming that over a year on some people on this thread dont understand the rules of self isolating Confused Id keep ringing 119 OP until you get through.

Bubby2997 · 18/05/2021 11:28

In my reminder text of my vaccination yesterday it gave me a link to cancel but then I read that it cannot be cancelled on the same day... I would try ringing the number again and try that way. You cannot be the first this has happened to. Silly how you cannot cancel the same day.

I made a mistake. It's hardly alarming.

If it applied to me i would have looked it up. As it happens we haven't come across it either in our household or anyone we know.

EsmereldaMargaretNoteSpelling · 18/05/2021 11:37

@flashylamp C'mon, it's been the mainstay of the above for over 15 months! You've never come across it?!

flashylamp · 18/05/2021 11:42
@flashylamp C'mon, it's been the mainstay of the above for over 15 months! You've never come across it?!
On a personal level no. None of us have had to test or isolate. Nobody in DD 1 work has tested or isolated. DD2 school has never had a case - they have probably had kids outwith her class isolate, but I wouldn't get to know about it. I have 2 relatives, neither of which have had to test or isolate. So yeah. I haven't had any experience.

I only asked why OP could not go because I mistakenly thought she would only need to isolate if her DD was positive. A minor mistake, causing no harm, given I was asking a question and not stating anything as fact.

Pubbles123 · 18/05/2021 11:47

Ok have sorted it, got through to 119. So I can't cancel as the appointment is for today (you can only cancel up to the day before) but I will be able to re-book from tomorrow she said.

@flashylamp But it's been everywhere, every news bulletin, every newspaper, BBC report, this forum, everywhere, for 15 whole months... If you get a test, everyone isolates until It's back. I honestly don't understand how anyone isn't aware of it.

Maybe I don't watch all the news. It's not difficult to understand that we are not all tuned in to every single thing. I struggle to take in huge amounts of information so I tend to stick with what I need to know.

I'm sorry I dared to ask on this post because rather than accept my acknowledgment that I made a mistake it seems you have decided to target me for not knowing.

That's a really poor way to treat someone asking a question.

EsmereldaMargaretNoteSpelling · 18/05/2021 12:04

I'm not targeting you, but I admit to being baffled! 15 months! I just... don't get it.

flashylamp · 18/05/2021 12:10

You don't have to 'get it' - just exercise basic understanding that I'm not the same as you.

I asked a question, and you absolutely did target me becaue you have posted now 3 times to try and make me look stupid for not understanding.

When someone doesn't know something, and asks the question to enable them to find out, what part of that makes you think having a go was a good idea?

This!
EsmereldaMargaretNoteSpelling · 18/05/2021 12:14

I didn't 'have a go', don't be daft. But go on then I'll bite - as for me making you look stupid... 😂
