Has anybody managed to get Pfizer instead of astra zeneca?

If so, please share strategies.

I have a number of issues including sibling medical history that have led me to not want astra zeneca. None of these are on the list of official reasons to avoid it. But I don't want it. I went to my vaccination appointment today and explained this. They said I could have astra zeneca and that it was safe. They said they would not offer Pfizer (which people six feet away were having) because all the doses were allocated. I was advised to get a letter from my GP. However it was my GP who told me to go to the appointment and discuss at the centre. So I left without being vaccinated.

It seems like an impasse.

Has anybody managed to find a way through this?

I called the 119 number to ask what I'd be given & was told all 3 would be available.

When I got there it was AZ only & as it's a fair distance & my dad took me I had the jab.

I mentioned my concerns & was told the risk is the equivalent of 1 person in the whole of Nottinghamshire getting a clot after taking it & it's not 100% proven that it's a factor. This did put me at ease.

The next day they stopped offering it to under 40's though & I'm 40.

I felt like I had a mild hangover the day after getting it & now feel normal. No headache thankfully.

@Crovine have you managed to get the vaccine yet?
