Now that restrictions have eased a bit im interested to know for those of you with young school age children have you took them out many places in this Easter holiday ?
All i see on social media is people taking their kids on holiday , out for day trips legoland and themeparks , the zoo ect and playdates.....Personally for us all we had planned was to visit family members grandparents aunt and cousins ect. But we've all had horrible colds and coughs (thankfully not covid) but I've been keeping at home trying to recover supppse I just feel a bit guilty now

We've not taken ours anywhere (9 & 11). We went to a friends house for a BBQ in the garden Good Friday and DS has rugby camp on Thurs/Fri. I'll probably take DD shopping (she's desperate for a trip to Primark Hmm) and possibly swimming whilst he is there. It's not really warm enough for days out for me just yet.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/04/2021 16:30

I'm working, so we haven't been anywhere!

onemouseplace · 13/04/2021 16:33

Absolutely naff all. Swimming lessons have started again, and we went to the opticians this morning and have haircuts booked for later in the week.

WhiskeryWoman · 13/04/2021 16:34

Yep. Big local attraction today and a different one yesterday. Also did outdoor cafe lunch yesterday. Garden play dates last week... which went inside once it snowed. I’ve been counting the days down to do something other than bloody walks and bike rides. Kids aren’t back at school here until 19th.

tinkerbellvspredator · 13/04/2021 16:40

Sports camp for a week to get fitness up a bit. Have a friend coming over to play a few days this week for DC2, plus mini golf with same child today. DC1 is doing cycling sessions and climbing sessions this week. Also dentist and hairdressers for both.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 13/04/2021 16:43

We're in wales so have a lovely 5 days away in our caravan. Going for walks etc seeing sights. Kids and us needed it! DS spent rest of time at a football camp where he played inside and out with about 30 other kids from across local schools. All good.

badlydrawnbear · 13/04/2021 16:45

My parents came over on Good Friday and DC went to their other grandparents house last weekend. This week we have not done anything we could not have done before. I have booked to go to a local animal park on Thursday. That is all. I hope to take them to the library later this week if we can find the books they have had out for over a year. I am not sure what else we used to do. I should take them shoe shopping and for hair cuts but can't afford shoe shopping and hair cuts are going to be all booked up.

TheOneWithTheBigNose · 13/04/2021 16:45

Ours went back to school yesterday so we had 2 weeks off with nothing really open.
We went to lots of local woodlands/country parks etc. Bike and scooter rides. Playgrounds. Froze our arses off mainly. Now they’re back at school just as everyone is getting to go to zoos/theme parks etc!

Shezlon · 13/04/2021 16:45

Very little. Have seen family twice in the garden and been shopping for school shoes. That's it!

Robintakeover · 13/04/2021 16:49

We’ve seen both sets of grandparents and the sporty child has done a couple of organised sport camp days - the older one has been out with his friends to the park and been to costa! I’d love to take them somewhere fun like a theme park but I’m holding off a little while longer

needadvice54321 · 13/04/2021 16:51

Not a lot! It's been quite nice actually, my children are 12 & 17 and DS2 has finally got to the age that I don't have to worry about (or entertain) him so much. I've met friends for coffee and walks, had lie ins, baked cakes! It's been fabulous Grin

Kaleidoscopecascade · 13/04/2021 16:52

Walks, parks, Easter egg hunts and visiting family in the garden lol. Finally booked swimming for tomorrow, £15 for 45 minutes!

NoGoodPunsLeft · 13/04/2021 16:57

We met up at a different park with a different person each day last week, this week is more of the stuff that has just reopened: farm, Zoo, crazy golf, theme park, pub lunch.

We did loads of online activities at Feb half term so this time I wanted to do more outdoors.

bettertimesarecomingnow · 13/04/2021 17:00

We've been lambing non stop. Kids have been involved and been messing about outside a lot

Lots of bottle feeding and moving sheep around. I think they've enjoyed it.

I could do with another holiday!

Bobbiebigbum · 13/04/2021 17:04

Football camp, outdoor activity day, mountain biking, hike up a mountain, beach walks, playing with friends, lots of DIY and a bit of jogging on my part. Only thing is I've come back to work tired out!

Springhere · 13/04/2021 17:09

Picnic lunch in my mum's garden, tea and cake outside a cafe, hairdressers appointments and a couple of nights in an air bnb. Will probably go to a zoo or wildlife park next weekend before school starts. It's been so lovely to have a bit of variety this holiday, dc have loved it and so have I.

CornishYarg · 13/04/2021 17:13

Ditto! DS went back to school yesterday so we had to stick to parks and woods mainly. There were a few really warm days at the start so we went to the beach one day and had lunch in my parents' garden another afternoon.
Silkiescat · 13/04/2021 17:19

Ours went back on Monday so it was another 2 weeks of nothing open. Did manage to go punting once but that was it. DD dyed her hair pink.

fudgefox · 13/04/2021 18:20

Back to school already so nothing open.

ChocOrange1 · 13/04/2021 18:42

Saw grandparents in the garden over Easter
Farm park yesterday. Big non-local park today. Haircuts and cafe trip tomorrow. Driving an hour on Thursday to meet their cousins at a country park. Swimming Friday. Loving it

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 13/04/2021 18:47

Did nothing actual Easter weekend other than usual walks etc.

Then child did a sports camp last week in the village where her cousins live. I went to stay with my parents who live in the same village (in a separate annex, didn't go into their house), and walked with them during the days when child was sport-ing.

Then we had a weekend of friends things in gardens (freezing our tits off). Now we're at our holiday place until Thursday. Since being here we've eaten out for every meal, been on boat trips, for walks and played on the beach. It's also been cold though.

The only place we went that I felt was busy and a bit meh was a touristy part of a nearby town when we went out to eat today.

There was no way I was going back to school with kids all telling me about their eventful Easter holidays, when I hadn't also had one.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 13/04/2021 18:49

Oh, back to the gym for me on Thursday when we get home, and a hair cut on Friday. Weekend will be work.

Retrievemysanity · 13/04/2021 18:53

Going outdoor tubing and disc golf tomorrow. Apart from that, just meeting up friends in parks and gardens.

Fishies · 13/04/2021 18:56

0k this just makes me feel even more guilty now im reading all your comments. Ill blame the colds and coughs still that'll make me feel somewhat better

Op. It's. Completely different if you've been poorly. Then rest and relaxation is the only thing for it.
