Most within two weeks... most?!

Recent articles about the clots and AZ vaccine suggest that “most” have happened within two weeks following the vaccine.

So does this mean that some have happened after this period.

I have my first dose 4 weeks ago. I’m prone to headaches.
But at what stage can we brush off any worry of a clot from the vaccine? Weeks, months? 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s a 0.00004% chance. I think you can chill. Next time you get on a plane, why don’t you spend your entire holiday worrying about the 0.5% chance of a clot. Or you could not worry about either.

DarceyDashwood · 08/04/2021 12:30

I had mine 3 weeks ago and am
Also prone to headaches. I can’t help worrying despite the tiny odds!

@HolmeH

Try telling that to the people that are in the 0.00004%.....

None later than 28 days afterwards.

Bluntness100 · 08/04/2021 12:33

You get you’ve more chance of being mauled To death by a poodle right?

largeaslifeandtwiceasugly · 08/04/2021 12:35

I am on day 33 after my first jab. I still have a Covid headache from having Covid at New Year and have had to increase my antidepressant dose so I am presuming the headaches are side effects of that BUT does not stop me worrying and in fact had another panic attack this morning, I must stop reading the news. Hmm

You get that anxiety isn’t logical right?
BarbaraofSeville · 08/04/2021 12:38

It's probably going to be signficantly more than 0.00004% of people who are hospitalised and even die due to COVID while all this nonsense carries on.

Even if there is a risk of blood clots, it is far lower than the risk to the population due to COVID.

It is thousands of times lower than the risk of clots from travelling by air or taking the contraceptive pill.

When they were going on about the 37 people out of 18 million who had had clots since being vaccinated, one of the doctors who they regularly talk to on the BBC said that they saw more clots per year in their patient list of 10k people.

I hope all the people with such a poor appreciation of risk assessment never go in a car, use stairs or even get out of bed.

AlexaShutUp · 08/04/2021 12:40

I'd like to know when I can stop worrying about this too!Grin

I'm on day 14 after the first AZ jab. I know rationally that the risk is minute, and I will definitely be having my second jab, but I'd still like to know exactly when I'm out of the "danger zone"! Yes, it's silly to worry, because I'm more likely to get hit by a bus or whatever. I know that, but it still plays on my mind anyway!

HolmeH · 08/04/2021 12:49

@onthetracks - they’d have all still been far more likely to get seriously ill from COVID 🤷🏼‍♀️ I hate this argument. Of course, no-one wants to die before their time but everything we do puts us at risk. Do you drink? Have you ever smoked? Are you overweight? Do you eat processed food? Do you drive a car? Do you get on a plane to go on holiday? Have you ever had an operation? Been pregnant? Had another vaccine? Taken medication? Do you like rollercoasters?

We all do this stuff. It’s all a risk to our health or even our lives. Every day we take them. We just don’t think about it. It’s like saying ‘try telling that to the xx number of people who died in a car crash’.. well yes, of course they didn’t want to die & its awful. But excuse me while I get in my car to take my children to school..

We’ve all become fixated on germs & risk & death. It’s insane. Or rather, the internet has.

GoWalkabout · 08/04/2021 12:55

The things you worry about aren't the things that get you.

GoWalkabout · 08/04/2021 12:55

But that's not a reason to worry about it!

Boph · 08/04/2021 12:57

@GoWalkabout

The things you worry about aren't the things that get you.
Oh this is so true.
Pootle40 · 08/04/2021 12:57

@Bluntness100

Exactly. You wouldn't get out of bed in the morning if we knew all the stats. Step away from the stats and news and get on with your life I say.
Bluntness100 · 08/04/2021 13:11

I think people need to contextualise it

Nurofen for example has an increased risk of heart attack and stroke as a Rare side effect. A blood clot after flying is between two and ten percent. There is risks in everything.

LizzieMacQueen · 08/04/2021 13:37

Mauled to death by poodle is a rather odd one to choose but the risk of clot from vaccine is higher in people who are shielding and have zero chance of encountering a poodle. Just as they have zero chance of clot from flying (because ATM they are not flying).

Right now their anxiety is about these clots and that's allowed.

Read this. It will help you to put this in perspective:

CloudPop · 08/04/2021 13:44

As doctors often say, whatever you do don't read the pamphlet that comes with paracetamol

Iveforgotten · 08/04/2021 13:49

This has to stop. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Find something worth worrying about

bookworm1632 · 08/04/2021 13:53

@Bluntness100

Oh shit - I saw a poodle the other day... I think it might have taken a disliking to me because it looked at me funny. I'm not going to sleep easy now :(
RoomForPud · 08/04/2021 14:00

Anxiety can’t just be turned off. I know the chance of a clot is tiny I’m 3 weeks past first dose but I’m worried. I have health anxiety anyway, have done since I was a child. I remember feeling convinced I wouldn’t live to see 18, I’m 35 and still going but still anxious

Lweji · 08/04/2021 14:05

But at what stage can we brush off any worry of a clot from the vaccine? Weeks, months?

Considering that the overall risk of anyone having a clot is about the same as for with the vaccines, or close, I don't think you should stop worrying until you die.

The events close to the vaccine time are more likely to be related to the vaccine. But people get clots for all sorts of reasons over their lives. So, some clots will be recorded well over 2 weeks past the vaccine, but it doesn't mean they are related to the vaccine.

Tinkling · 08/04/2021 14:25

The maximum was 16 days.

DamsonTrousers · 08/04/2021 20:21

You can brush off the risk immediately after having it given the minuscule risk of a clot.

jimmyhill · 08/04/2021 22:13

Worry about it for as long as you'd worry about getting a blood clot after a long haul flight
