Just as our turn is about to come, the vaccine roll out is slowing right down.

And I doubt they will move the dates of easing and lifting the lockdown rules that are planned to take place in May and June even if they don’t hit their vaccination targets - as they said they would. Their past performance has proved how slow they are to react and when they reacted it was far too late.

I want this lockdown over and done with, we can’t afford any more mistakes, everyone has had enough.

@AcornAutumn

OP you want the lockdown done

The rumbles of a third wave etc - I reckon 17 May opening won't happen. They will slow down the vaccine rollout so they can catch up on the digital ID.

The rumbles of a third wave etc or it could just be one of those buses we keep getting thrown under Wink

Or another of the boring lies and obfuscations by journalists looking for a headline, taken up with glee by some across SM platforms.

puffinkoala · 07/04/2021 15:57

The third wave all seems a nonsense to me, we've had three lockdowns so haven't we had three waves already? Or was the autumn one only a wavelet until the Kent variant started circulating?

The latter. The autumn lockdown briefly dampened the second wave.

Looking at the Imperial College report though, the "third wave" will be more of a ripple in the UK.

I was invited for a jab but was in quarantine today I called they have no more first jabs. We've obviously run out

chickadeeeeeeeee · 07/04/2021 18:15

Maybe, by the time I get the vaccine, they will have explored FULLY the clot risk in younger folk, especially women Wink

@mrsknottschicken

As a 45 year-old parent of a school-aged child, I’m not super happy about everything opening up whilst I’m still not vaccinated. I’m not comfortable going to pubs and restaurants yet, but I know that other parents will be. I feel like people our age are in a bit of a risky position if things do slow down.
Then you don't go out Smile

They should be open for everyone else. The majority who go to the pubs are under 65. It's the over 65s who count for most deaths and hospital admissions.

ConnieDobbs · 07/04/2021 20:46

@MrsHastingslikethebattle I think mrsknottschicken's point is that you can control your own behaviour, eg. by choosing not to go to pubs yet, but if your child is at school mixing with other children then it's all a bit pointless.

But yet we've all had to stay at home for the past year making sacrifices Hmm

As pp says, if my kids are at school then going to the pub isn't the issue, but what is a problem is that all those kids families are now out and about at the pub and the gym and so on, and we unvaccinated are the sitting ducks.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 07/04/2021 21:36

As an unvaccinated 30 year old I certainly hope they don't delay the May reopening. Those of us who are low risk need to just get on with it now. Lockdown was not to protect us, it was to protect the vulnerable.

Iootraw1 · 07/04/2021 21:39

Good I’m glad there is a micro pause to reflect on the AZ risks. Im hoping things may be a bit clearer on that before I get called up for my vaccine.

Yes, thank you @ConnieDobbs - that is exactly what I meant. We’ve no intention to go out to pubs until we have been vaccinated (I’m hoping it’ll be within the next month or so for the first dose), but my DD is in a class with other kids whose parents definitely will. And that’s their right, of course. But I feel a bit weird about it, because I’m kind of taking on whatever risks they choose to take on as well.
