It’s good he’s got a slot but I just cannot shake the feeling that something will go wrong - I feel really scared

Update - he’s had it, so far so good. No side effects

Gives me a little confidence (only little still) in getting mine

I had mine on Thursday morning, and took a couple of paracetamol at bedtime. I had no noticeable side effects apart from feeling slightly headachey the next morning. Try and relax a bit more, you are over the first hurdle Flowers

Op are you seriously allergic to anything?

You do know that over 155 million vaccines doses have been given globally and the most severe reaction is due to allergy. And estimated at about 3 per million. That’s why they ask if you’re allergic to anything.

Past that any reactions are mild, tired, maybe a little nauseas, chills, mild temp and generally for 24 - 48 hours

There is no causal link between blood clots and the vaccines either.

Can you try to rationalise your fear? Or is it simoly not possible?

QuietBatPeople1 · 29/03/2021 18:37

I’m not knowingly allergic however I’m still worried about the vaccine - this vaccine not all vaccines

He’s had it now- hopefully he’ll be ok

I get it op. I've got health anxiety too, I'm getting counselling for it just now but i don't know if it's helping.

QuietBatPeople1 · 30/03/2021 07:20

I’m not entirely sure my cbt is helping too @ssd

For every poster who asked me why I’m scared

  • it’s findings like this - we both are younger than 55.

Yes they are saying the benefits outweigh the current risk however this shows it is a new vaccine and we still don’t know what we don’t know- about all of them not just AZ. So it’s natural some people are apprehensive and not jumping at it

National Advisory Committee on Immunization updates guidelines on AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, says use in adults aged 55 and less should be paused for additional risk assessment; follows reports of heightened instances of blood clots in Europe. bit.ly/31u9xFN

I understand your worry. I was worrying about anything health related before covid. But now its gone up 100%. And i know it doesn't make sense. But i cant stop it. I think you're the same @QuietBatPeople1

ssd · 30/03/2021 18:48

But i had the vaccine. Gladly. I figure the bad side effects are less likely than getting covid bad. Its all a minefield though.

GappyValley · 30/03/2021 18:52

I caveat this by saying I read it on Twitter and haven’t verified the stats quoted but...

Even if every single case of blood clots reported by everyone who has had the vaccine, was anything to do with the vaccine (and there is currently no evidence the two are connected), the rate of clots would be ONE HUNDREDTH of the confirmed clots in women taking the pill.

So unless you are 100 times more worried for every woman you know who takes the pill than you are for your DH, concern about clots shouldn’t be even the smallest consideration
