Do they send out vaccine invites at the weekend?

Stupid question probably. I’m just getting anxious about not having had an invite yet when almost all of my local friends the same age as me (45) have. I know there’s supposed to be a slowdown from Monday and some local centres have said they’re focusing on second jabs from next week, so it feels as though if I don’t get a text this weekend, I might have to wait until May.

There does seem to be such a lot of confusion on this,

National centres and hubs are all on the same group. It’s nationwide. So it’s over 50s, health and social care workers and cev.

It will stay like that for awhile.

Any deviations come from individual gp surgeries, where they are on their patient list and how many vaccines they have.

Not one person can tell you if your gp surgery will contact you at the weekend, unless they are a member of the same surgery or work there.

Thank you, it’s so frustrating. My friend sent me a screenshot of the text she got, which had a link to the national booking site. I assume her GP must have added her to the system somehow because they are ahead. I could actually walk to her house from mine so the vaccine feels very close and yet not that close at all.

(And I understand we are lucky to live in a country with a good rollout etc etc etc ... just in case anyone leaps on an says I’m being entitled!)

She won’t be able to book with the national site unless she’s group 1-9. No one can.

She did book with the national site and she is going tomorrow. That’s why it is so confusing. She’s the same age as me, got a text with that link in it (I’ve seen it). No underlying health conditions and not a carer. Second jab booked for June. Same thing happened to 2 of my other friends, both also 45.

I was wondering this. Everyone I know in their 40s got their text this week including family members and none with health conditions but I didn't get mine yet. Hopefully will Monday. They all booked at a national site from the text

How can you book as an unpaid carer if you're not registered as such with your GP? Confused surely they will just turn you away at the vaccination centre?

StarcourtMall · 27/03/2021 09:34

Same here - group 10, age 45 and got my text this week with a link to the national booking system.

@Caps444 why are you encouraging people to lie and potentially get turned away? How is that helping anyone?

@Caps444 please don't encourage people to play the system, the priority order has been put in place for a reason.

My husband is a health worker and was checked three times. I can’t believe someone is on line urging people to lie to get the vaccine

That can't be true @Bluntness100 didn't you see that @Caps444 says they don't check anyone?

Hmm, I wonder who is correct

middleager · 27/03/2021 10:29

If it's any consolation, I feel the same.
I'm 48 and DH 47 and no sign here.

Our GP doesn't offer the vaccine on site. The neighbouring GP does, and all those I know my age and younger were called last week. It's frustrating.

Caps4444 · 27/03/2021 10:39

@FlyingBurrito
They actually as health and social workers to bring proof.
Unpaid carers do not need to bring proof - it says this both on the NHS site and the carers site.

No they don't turn you away if not flagged with GP. You do not have to be flagged with a gp to book at Mass Vacination centre. You do not need to provide proof either.
Kittyhelp · 27/03/2021 12:11

I'm 45 and asthmatic, I take lots of medication (two pumps and a tablet) daily. Because my medication keeps my asthma stable I'm not considered vulnerable so haven't been called for my vaccine yet. But I heard last week my GP had called a 37 year old with no underlying health conditions, so I think the whole process is very confusing. Before anyone jumps on me and tells me I should call my GP, we had covid last year and it was a very mild illness for me. I was up every day and looking after my DH who was very unwell and hospitalised in the end. I'm happy to wait my turn but it does all seem a bit strange!
