Hi,

Just wondering how common this is right now? DP has been invited too and are a few years younger than me Confused

Really hoping this isn't because people are cancelling.

Anyone else in their 30's been called up?

BatFacedGrrll · 24/03/2021 17:58

It's very common. It'll be something innocuous on your records - could be back to when you're a child, could have been a time you were prescribed an inhaler, could be you've just popped up

It's not a correlation with people cancelling jabs so not sure why you'd think that.

TangerineCandyfloss · 24/03/2021 18:00

@BatFacedGrrll, because they'd have spare jabs?..

OP posts:
Yapplepearora · 24/03/2021 18:06

There are lots of cancellations and people just not turning up. Rather than wasting the vaccines I believe GP’s are choosing patients to put forward for the spares.

notrub · 24/03/2021 18:06

Your GP has run out of other people to vaccinate.

It's not a uniform program across the country - the headline stuff is inclusive, not exclusive, i.e. when it gets to your band, you're ENTITLED to a jab somewhere and can pick your spot. But lots of people called up before the country gets to their band - in those instances though their choice of location is more limited.

beachlife9 · 24/03/2021 18:11

Me! I had a text message yesterday and went for my vaccine (I am 33 with no health conditions). To be honest, I'm regretting it massively now but that's a different story!

Jobsharenightmare · 24/03/2021 18:14

Lots of cancellations in my area so they are getting through the younger people not in priority groups.

SilkyMoonfaceandTheSaucepanMan · 24/03/2021 18:17

@beachlife9 - why the regret? Serious question.

beachlife9 · 24/03/2021 18:33

@SilkyMoonfaceandTheSaucepanMan I'm not 'anti vax' at all but have been on the fence about having the vaccine. I'm healthy and haven't had so much as a cold for as long as I can remember (years). My DH had covid and so did his whole family who I had also been around (I tested negative). I had the jab yesterday and have felt awful since. Temperature, aches and pains, headache (I've probably had 3 headaches in my life). So basically, having the vaccine has made me feel worse than I've ever felt. I know all of this is normal after having it but I just feel like I've done more damage than good Confused

FlyingBurrito · 24/03/2021 18:37

It's really common, there are threads on it every day, Mumsnet under 40s must be keeping the centres busy Grin

TangerineCandyfloss · 24/03/2021 19:57

@beachlife9, I can't say I'm looking forward to it tbh. Most people I know who've had it feel somewhere between awful and really awful.

Saying that, it's just a sign your immune system is going into overdrive. It's worth it though.

Think this weekend might be a write off Confused

We are so lucky to have such a successful vaccine programme, having got everything else so badly wrong and cost so many lives.
This subject of unexpected invitations for the vaccine has been done to death on MN. Please just go and have it. Every person vaccinated is a step nearer to life getting back to normal.

Hollyhead · 24/03/2021 20:04

37 and had mine this week too - in rural areas a batch of vaccines can go a long way. Felt awful for a day as well but fine now - with it to avoid complications like long covid or having to isolate.

LibbyL92 · 24/03/2021 20:32

28 and had mine! No underlying conditions but they offered us working in school it!

needadvice54321 · 24/03/2021 20:37

Yes my brother has been invited today, no underlying issues, never had any particular health issues (even as a child), no particular job reason and is 38!

No idea why, but he isn't going to knock it! I just wish they'd invite DH who's in his mid 40's

phlebasconsidered · 24/03/2021 20:54

Well I am 49, asthmatoc, autoimmune and a teacher and i'm still unvaccinated. I drove to our local centre to ask if I could be put on the leftover list and they said no, as i'm 49.

Guess it really is a postcode lottery.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 24/03/2021 20:57

No sign of an appointment for me - despite being in group 6 due to health conditions.

poppycat10 · 24/03/2021 21:09

Interesting, I can't see our local surgeries breaking government guidelines and inviting under 50s unless they really do have underlying conditions. People are very well behaved around here.

But maybe I'll be proved wrong.

That reflects my perception of the system around here too.

I would hope that they are not wasting doses though!

Are you sure you're not 6cm tall?

I'm 26 and got a call from my GP. I was really surprised and asked a few questions to make sure that it wasn't a mistake. I've a hereditary condition which was diagnosed as a kid and in 95% of cases (including mine) is completely benign (I wasn't even aware of it until I was 19/20, was filling in an armed forces medical form, and asked my mother whether there was anything I needed to mention). They must be scraping the barrel of underlying conditions here and adding anyone who has absolutely anything written in their notes.

Frazzledd · 25/03/2021 05:47

I'm 41 and they phoned me last week to get mine (tomorrow)- DP said the same about it being a postcode lottery (he's at a different surgery, older and not been offered his yet either)- I have had a few health issues recently so perhaps been bumped up the list- but think it's more to do with allocations and availability.

bananamonster · 25/03/2021 05:47

I wish they would vaccinate keyworkers before all the healthy 30-somethings who work at home

Also feel guilty about this happening...you definitely need this more than me right now-
custardbear · 25/03/2021 06:22

I was sent a text on 13th March (my mums birthday - thought it was a gift from her from heaven 😉)
I got the quickest appointment the Tuesday, yes I felt a bit rubbish but nothing paracetamol didn't fix - I'm 49, no underlying conditions but do get inhalers for allergies that affect my breathing

As JVT said - if you get the call, just go a d get it done

I am the same sage as you and had made my appointment but I cancelled. Can I ask why you regret getting it done? I don't regret cancelling....yet,
