Hi,

Just wondering how common this is right now? DP has been invited too and are a few years younger than me Confused

Really hoping this isn't because people are cancelling.

Anyone else in their 30's been called up?

Why did you cancel @indy2please? You'll need to get done eventually, why not now?

TangerineCandyfloss · 25/03/2021 07:08

@bananamonster, so do I! I feel guilty, but I suppose, as pp have said, it's somewhat a postcode lottery. If the surgery has spare vaccines, what are they supposed to do with them?

OP posts:
sleepwouldbenice · 25/03/2021 07:11

Offer them to another surgery?

ladymuck111 · 25/03/2021 07:12

I'm early forties and haven't had mine yet. My partner who is 6 months older has had his, no underlying health conditions either! In fact most people I know have had it except me.

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 25/03/2021 07:13

Just say yes.

A work colleague who is about your age had his on Monday.

Brunt0n · 25/03/2021 07:14

The vast majority of people who would get seriously ill with COVID will have now had their first dose. It’s just a question now of getting as many people as possible vaccinated as quickly as possible 🤷🏼‍♀️

Cornettoninja · 25/03/2021 07:50

They must be scraping the barrel of underlying conditions here and adding anyone who has absolutely anything written in their notes

@DdraigGoch I don’t think ‘scraping the barrel’ is quite the right phrase. There’s a scale of underlying conditions and everything on your medical record is coded so they’ll just pull out the corresponding codes. They won’t be analysing to see if the condition that has flagged you occurred in the last year or last decade. Maybe in the future, but the scale of the vaccination programme at the moment doesn’t allow the time to look into each and every case.

lljkk · 25/03/2021 09:38

when there are spare jabs then people get contacted personally by folk working at the vaccine centre with 20 minutes to get there kind of situation (how 19yo DD got her jab), not how OP was contacted which is thru routine channels.

RedNovember · 25/03/2021 09:45

it is a postcode lottery

dp is about to be 49 with severe asthma (as per the earlier shielding definition of what is severe) and hasn't been called up yet but I do know the over50s are being done at the moment so I'm crossing my fingers he'll be called up soon!

TangerineCandyfloss · 25/03/2021 11:37

Jab done 👍

I have to say, I was overwhelmed with all the staff and volunteers. So well organised. From first arriving at the gate, to leaving. It was run with military precision and everyone was so friendly and helpful. Absolutely brilliant.

Thank you NHS and thank you amazing scientists.

......and all the volunteers! Flowers

35 and had mine on Monday. Like @beachlife9 was on the fence about having it but went with it...been off work all week with horrendous side effects.

Ladderclimber · 25/03/2021 14:44

I’m 37 and been contacted for mine but can’t book online. Could you? Or was it a local boooing through GP?

Dowser · 25/03/2021 14:45

35 and had mine on Monday. Like *@beachlife9* was on the fence about having it but went with it...been off work all week with horrendous side effects.
Wow so sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better soon.
TangerineCandyfloss · 25/03/2021 15:04

@BettyBo33, urgh that sucks. What kind of side effects? Hope they subside soon.

I've just started to notice a few aches. Bracing myself.

@Ladderclimber, it was my local surgery. I got a text and I booked via the link.

BettyBo33 · 25/03/2021 15:22

@TangerineCandyfloss

Aches and chills and then 24 hours after the jab 7 hours of vomiting. Horrible.

BettyBo33 · 25/03/2021 15:23

Forgot to say I had Covid and this is worse. For me. Now I’ve stopped being sick I’m just wiped out, achy etc

brokengate · 25/03/2021 15:27

There's got to be some errors as well. Our neighbour, male, 28 has been done. Zero health conditions now or ever. We are on over 50's. His parents have not even been done, one of whom is unwell.

He called, they said just take it, system error, if you cancel you might get missed when it is your turn.

defnotadomesticgoddess · 25/03/2021 15:28

Just thought I’d comment Re side effects. I had the Oxford jab on Tuesday. Only had a bit of a sore arm and felt a bit more tired. Otherwise I’m fine.
