No positive tests in school

Just thought I'd share that there have 0 positive tests in my children's school all week! Something positive to read for a change!

We had over 1000 tests and no positives too, via email today.

How big is the school op, and how big is the catchment area?

I work in a school. I have Facebook groups with members across the whole uk.
No one has had any positive results.

My step daughter tested positive at school yesterday.

My children's large secondary had no positives until yesterday. One positive picked up with LFT.

Over 3000 tested no positives..starting to wonder if a) the tests are just useless or b) if as many people have it as claimed

No positive LFTs all week but then 10 positive proper tests on Thursday

700 odd pupils with quite a large catchment area. The town has a 70,000 population.

Our school aren’t doing tests but it has over 1,100 pupils from across the whole county (where rates still vary quite a lot).
LFT’s are only about 60% accurate so I’m not sure whether the not testing is a good idea or not!

Same at mine! About 700 kids tested out of 1300.

A lot probably refuse as well.

Same here, school in S London with catchment from all over London, Kent, Surrey. 900 kids.

700 kids at ours, tested 60% and only 1 tested positive!

DD's school has only had about a dozen test positive in the past year (catchment area about 10 miles, but most within 2-3).

The school in the same town had a child test positive, but negative PCR and they are now stuck at home, as are some close contacts.

For those saying perhaps the tests are useless I know a argue employer that has been using them for some weeks . They also have had no positive tests , and also no one off with covid that had been missed .

Ds college did 3000 tests (so 1000 students) and had 1 positive only.

England has done around 5.2m LFTs this week , of which around 3700 were positive (but unconfirmed by PCR.) That's around 0.07%.

That would work out an average of around 1 child in 1400, so one per reasonably large secondary, if evenly spread.

Friend's DS's school had a false positive that I know of, though think it was the only one. Two negative PCR results following the positive LFT. Annoyingly the LFT result can't be overruled as was taken at school.

My kids go to different secondary schools, no. Positive tests in either.

That would simply mean there are no symptomatic cases. There could be asymptomatic cases - which is fine so long as it isn't passed onto anyone who is vulnerable.

I've no issue with lft tests by the way - I do them twice a week myself. I do have an issue if they were to be used instead of isolation of close contacts (as per the government's original plan) or if a more reliable PCR result can't overrule an inaccurate LFT one.
