Longer term Pfizer vaccine side effects?

boymum9 · 08/03/2021 12:05

I was very lucky to have the vaccine 2 ish weeks ago (30s no health conditions), all was generally fine, but I was wondering if anyone else has had any lingering side effects or what I'm feeling is just generally under the weather/eaten something etc.

I still have pain at the injection site which feels like a pinch and hurts when I raise my arm, put on or take off tops etc

I've had an upset stomach for about a week I can't shake!

My joints in particularly in my legs hurt!

Pretty bad brain fog.

I didn't feel ill at all from the vaccine at the time just a sore arm.

@SingToTheSky

When you go for your second dose, does it matter if it’s the other brand?
They should give you the same vaccine. In the US the CDC has said that it's acceptable to use Moderna if you had Pfizer the first time and vice versa if there's no other option. Those two are almost identical vaccines. You really shouldn't get two different types, like Pfizer and AZ for example.
SingToTheSky · 08/03/2021 18:03

Ah ok thanks. It was just a sign on the wall saying today’s vaccine is pfizer, so I don’t know if they’d know in advance when I booked the next one. I’m not very assertive but presumably they’ll ask which I had?! (It’s on the little business card thing anyway of course)

Mumof3andlovingit · 08/03/2021 18:04

Just clarify. When I had the vaccine initially had no symptoms. Not even a sore arm. It’s only now 9-10 days later I had weird rash here and there and a puffy swollen eye in the morning on 2 occasions.
May be vaccine related or may not be.

Cookerhood · 08/03/2021 18:08

They are doing studies with a mixture of AZ & Pfizer and there are reasons to think it might be a good idea but no-one knows yet. At the moment they are saying you should have the same one unless unavailable or a good reason not to.

The way the doses are prepared is quite different, so to keep things simple some vaccination sites only do one type per day.

Have you had the Pfizer jab and did they book your next appointment then? Either way, which one you had will be in your records.

I had the Pfizer and had very little reaction to the first dose and some chills and fatigue after the second, but was fine two days later.

SingToTheSky · 08/03/2021 18:21

Thank you both. No didn’t book next one just said I’d be contacted 11 weeks later (my surgery are booking 3-5 days ahead at the moment)

MissConductUS · 08/03/2021 18:40

I'm sure your surgery will book you for a day when you can get your second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Pfizer 1st dose in January - no side effects, not even a sore arm. 2nd dose due 1st April - I have heard that one can feel a bit wiped out after 2nd dose but am prepared and ok with that if it happens

Covenready · 08/03/2021 22:31

I had a very sore arm after my first dose - couldn’t raise it above shoulder height for 24 hours. I then felt sick dizzy and exhausted a few days later. Had to take 2 days off work.

LilyPond2 · 09/03/2021 00:26

Just a reminder that the Zoe app people are asking people to report their experiences following vaccination. They want a representative sample so want people to report whether they experience side effects or not.

starfish88 · 09/03/2021 01:58

The pinch feeling in your arm may be to do with the needle rather than what was in it if they got it a bit off and poked a nerve or something. I had that for about 6 months after my tetanus booster. It went away after a few months.

mantlepiece · 09/03/2021 02:09

I had the Oxford vaccine. I had a sore arm for a few days after. I had nausea on the first day.
Then about four days later I got really bad joint pain and a searing headache on one side of my head. That lasted about three days.
Absolutely fine since then.

Blueberries0112 · 09/03/2021 02:36

My son took this one this Saturday. Will have to take a second dose soon. No side effect yet

whenwoulditkickin · 09/03/2021 10:48

Has anyone developed really sensitive teeth?

I’m almost 2 weeks post Pfizer and randomly my front teeth are all very sensitive.

SparklingLime · 09/03/2021 12:38

@SingToTheSky

Thank you for posting this. I had it 9 days ago and have only just left the house today. 20min amble in the park and I’m now feeling sick and wobbly again.

I do have fibromyalgia among other things though so not a normal body IYSWIM! Is it still worth reporting the side effects with that in mind?

I feel like I did after I had a horrible virus last March - had the post viral weakness for weeks. Not as bad this time but very similar compared to my usual flare up symptoms. I did think that was covid last year so it would make sense (as I have read it’s worse if you actually did have it?) but obviously no routine tests then, so I don’t know for sure.

Absolutely still report, Sing. There’s a big study just starting looking at how people with pre-existing conditions respond to the vaccines.
Gettingonabitnow · 24/05/2021 19:19

Hi. I had my Pfizer jab nearly two weeks ago. Felt crap the next day, but I still have a headache and brain fog all this time later (I’ve yellow carded it).

I’m panicking that this won’t actually go away! Although the rational part of thinks it probably will. Anyone had the same?

Coffeealways · 24/05/2021 19:42

I had the same after my first one @gettingonabitnow
The headache and brain fog were gone after a couple of weeks

2boysand1princess · 24/05/2021 19:59

Had no issues with first dose but got gastro symptoms from hell a few days after second dose. Stomach still not 100% and it’s been 12 days since jab. Didn’t have any other symptoms.

Wallabyone · 24/05/2021 20:35

I had Pfizer last week, and felt out of sorts that evening, sort of mild nausea and a headache that went on.
Since day three, my lymph nodes in my arm pits are killing me. The injection arm is worse than the other, but both are very sore.
I reported on the yellow card site.

Rainydays55 · 12/06/2021 16:12

Those of you that had brain fog after Pfizer did it go after a while?

Kathunk · 12/06/2021 17:22

I’m about 3 weeks post vaccine, sore arm for a day or 2 but for the past 2 weeks I’ve been absolutely exhausted, sleeping long hours, total brain fog, struggling to do my basic daily routine. No other illnesses or change of routine that could have caused it

Kathunk · 12/06/2021 17:23

@whenwoulditkickin could be a coincidence but I’ve had really sensitive front teeth for the last 2 days

sociallydistained · 12/06/2021 17:36

Same! I’m just under 3 weeks. Really struggling :(
Rainydays55 · 12/06/2021 20:06

Yes I’m 4 weeks post vaccine and this last week has been a struggle.

Rejoiningperson · 12/06/2021 20:12

If any symptoms go over the first few days you are advised to see your GP.

I had symptoms for a week but by day 4 they were so mild that I didn’t see my GP as they were disappearing. It was odd symptoms of heartburn (never usually get this), feeling a bit ‘chesty’, had bad sore arm for a day or so, odd itchiness and tingles, felt sick in my stomach a bit. Just felt ‘off’ and so just took it really easy. Some heart palpitations.
