This seems a brilliant step forward, twice weekly lateral flow tests for households and bubbles of school staff and school pupils. Posted or ‘click and collect’. Yes the lateral flow tests have their limitations, but it still should help I think.

Quite frankly, if one of my dcs is required to isolate, along with the whole household, after a positive lateral flow, with no option of taking a PCR, then I'm withdrawing my consent.

Pointless if it's not compulsory.

Many parents don't test their children as it is or don't isolate when they are ordered to for a variety of reasons. The main one being that they won't get paid if they don't work (don't get me started on the government's stance on this issue),.

One of the parents at our school actually sent her children into school despite the fact she had tested positive.

Obviously there will be children who cannot be tested for medical or SEN grounds. These children are known to school and could be exempt.

It's really not that difficult and "They might not like it," really doesn't cut it for NT children during a global pandemic. It's nothing that staff haven't been doing for months.

Which us why I am amazed that parents ste consenting to gave non-symptomatic children tested. The false positive rate i unacceptably high - 1/200 - so in a school of 2,000 could be 10 families unnecessarily isolating.

Where does 1 in 200 come from?

We are allowing the first three tests and then no more. If DS doesn't want to do the second and third then he can choose. Legally he could get married in 6 months so I think he can choose for himself.
