Yesterday I was walking through the local park and saw a group of about six people sitting together having a picnic...so clearly people are already doing the things set out in the ‘roadmap’

@Silverthorny

Well luckily my DM had her cancer operation just before the second lockdown. Amazing NHS surgeon battled tirelessly to save her - for 5 hours non stop. She now has a stoma, which, due to delays is unlikely to be reversed. She will have this for the rest of her life. My DM has stuck religiously to the guidelines, and EVERY time I see someone thinking they know better than the government advice, I hate humans that little bit more. Because that ideology is precisely why people have died unnecessarily, and why my mum will be incapacitated. But so long as you and your little ones have a nice time, that’s ok. I’ll remember that each time I change her stoma bag when she’s 90.
I’m sorry to hear about your mum. My lovely aunt has recently died due to a delay in NHS treatment meaning her cancer was caught too late. The delays weren’t caused by a family sitting outside eating a sandwich though.
Silverthorny · 23/02/2021 13:01

She was hospitalised with a catheter. She’s 10. She was traumatised.

Silverthorny · 23/02/2021 13:04

@MrBullinaChinaShop it’s flouting advice for self serving purposes that I have a huge issue with. People are able to understand complicated technological devices - very easily - to fulfil their narcissistic needs. Yet can’t understand simple guidelines.

mollypuss1 · 23/02/2021 13:13

My step father has a stoma for life. He got it due to bowel cancer not because someone had a cheese and pickle sandwich in a park.

BlowDryRat · 23/02/2021 13:16

As long as people aren't throwing a house party, which is always obnoxious even in non-covid times, then I really don't care what they do.

garlictwist · 23/02/2021 13:19

Round here no one has ever even stopped meeting in big groups. They are always out and about in huge numbers. And not families either as all the same age.

Vivana · 23/02/2021 13:23

So good on them. I met my friend last week for a coffee and we walked and talked. Quite nice really as I've worked through all the lockdown looking after people's loved ones and dealing with people who have died of covid. Also tested 4 times a week so no I don't feel bad for breaking the rules

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 23/02/2021 13:25

Sounds lovely, hope they enjoyed the sun.

Silverthorny · 23/02/2021 13:33

How lovely!! Bit of sunshine, and my mental health has suffered so much - haven’t been able to have coffee with all my friends in ages!! I’m sure asymptomatic spread isn’t a thing, as I laugh my germs all over my dear friend. She’s popping round to see her 80 year old gran after she’s seen me! She’s had one dose of the vaccine - sure it’ll be fine! I mean what do all these scientists know anyway, they all look a bit boring to me.

Vivana · 23/02/2021 13:37

Well I'm tested 4 times a week so I think I would know if I had the virus or not don't you

User133847 · 23/02/2021 13:41

Yeah pretty much what the government have said we can do from March (schools aside) people are already doing. It's already a free for all outdoors and that's in February weather.

Silverthorny · 23/02/2021 13:42

Oh yes - I heard Whitty say yesterday that the rules apply to everyone except @vivana (or her friends who think if @vivana does it, then I can do it too) because @vivana is extra special as she gets tested 4 times a week.

Vivana · 23/02/2021 13:44

Well she is in my bubble silverthorny so you don't make any sense

Silverthorny · 23/02/2021 13:45

And of course, none of this is our fault anyway. It’s all Boris’s fault. Let’s do as we please! And if there as a new mutation that we end up spreading about, it’s those silly scientists who are responsible! Not me.

Silverthorny · 23/02/2021 13:48

And funny how some people can create more bubbles than a bowl full of fairy liquid...

MrBullinaChinaShop · 23/02/2021 13:48

Sitting and eating a scotch egg with your household isn’t going to cause mutations either.

CheeseJalapenoBread · 23/02/2021 13:48

You should have notified the police in order to have them tear gassed or maybe dispersed with a water cannon.

TwirpingBird · 23/02/2021 13:48

I ventured out of my estate for the first time in 4 months today with my kids in tow. Everyone in the park around me was meeting a friend or two, sitting with a coffee or a sandwich.

Everyone looked very happy, kept their distance from me, smiled at my DD. It was lovely and felt almost normal. I loved it.

Silverthorny · 23/02/2021 13:53

Oh how lovely @TwirpingBird!! My niece was in hospital with a catheter shoved in her arm having blood tests for Covid/leukaemia/PIMS, while my sister were through probably the most distressing week of her life! Shame she couldn’t get to the park and flout the odd guideline...

luckylavender · 23/02/2021 13:54

@Countrylane - surely it's the weather that's made a difference

AllMyPrettyOnes · 23/02/2021 13:55

@TwirpingBird

Yeah, you should probably step back off the thread now.

Bornlazy · 23/02/2021 13:55

@Silverthorny my mother has permanent stoma and to be honest if she's still alive at 90 that'll be enough for me (and her)

As for the rule breaking I stick to them myself but try not to get too enraged by others who don't.

AllMyPrettyOnes · 23/02/2021 13:55

Sorry, not @TwirpingBird

@Silverthorny should

MrBullinaChinaShop · 23/02/2021 13:56

@Silverthorny

Oh how lovely *@TwirpingBird*!! My niece was in hospital with a catheter shoved in her arm having blood tests for Covid/leukaemia/PIMS, while my sister were through probably the most distressing week of her life! Shame she couldn’t get to the park and flout the odd guideline...
*@TwirpingBird* didn’t say she broke any guidelines though. She said people smiled at her DD. As far as I’m aware, that’s not against the law (yet).
Fembot123 · 23/02/2021 13:58

@Silverthorny

I have stopped obsessing over whether or not people are flouting rules. They probably are and I hate them. In fact, I hate most adult humans. I don’t want lockdown to end, and I’d much rather steer clear of other people.
That’s probably for the best.
