I need to calm down, I'm angry at so many things just now. I'm really anxious about covid and I think its spilling into anger.

I need to calm down, its not good for my health.

I don't feel angry. But I do feel empty sometimes.

SnuggyBuggy · 20/02/2021 07:43

I'm also noticing a lot of my friends getting hopeful that this will be over soon. I don't think they are wrong to feel hopeful but I'm a bit scared of feeling hopeful now in case we get disappointed again.

BrideofBideford · 20/02/2021 07:54

I feel angry too

Even MN isn’t fun and banter anymore

Just people saying we need to get a grip (from their I’m-Allright-Jack position of having no threat to losing their job/home/life. They are ok, so why aren’t you? Stop complaining, the war was worse etc etc... ALL from people in privileged positions)

Nobody I know has died of COVID, but 2 suicides and 2 people sectioned.

3littlewords · 20/02/2021 08:06

@BrideofBideford its like there's 2 separate pandemics going on at the moment isn't there, there's the one we talk about constantly and there's the one we seemingly ignore and dismiss as not as important

Tisforptarmigan · 20/02/2021 08:39

I'm angry that schools are closed and about the emotional distress it is causing my children. Not to mention the adverse effect on their schooling.

And for what? Will never forgive the government for their lockdowns. We need to open the country. We can't live like this. If you personally feel at risk, stay home. Everyone else should get on with things.

I do feel numb about post like this.

It's not that simple, is it. School need to be safe to open. People who feel at risk are struggling to stay home too. And everyone else who want to get on with things are getting ill too.

How do you propose that we do that.

What are the NHS staff meant to do when the ambulances start backing up outside all containing very sick people who need help.

How do you suggest we do it then? Have no NHS care or have doctors pick which ambulance they take? Have no workers as they are all staying home safe as you suggest if they feel at risk. Maybe the teachers at your child’s school would take up that option too.

Children are getting an education delivered remotely in order to keep them safe, their families safe and wider community so that those needing hospital care can get it.

Even younger school children can understand the basics of the situation and many parents have been very inventive in shielding then from the news, finding ways for them to keep in touch with peers and family and ensuring they show a positive outlook so that the children have resilience for the situation and in later life should they come up against adversity again.

That 'let's do what we like' thread got deleted??
Excellent.
Read that with my jaw on the ground. The entitlement on there was truly shocking.

unmarkedbythat · 20/02/2021 11:12

I'm angrier in general because life is more stressful on just about every level. I'm not feeling the specific anger about lockdown or restrictions that so many post about. I am feeling more anger with the endless posts by people who want to do something, are currently prevented by restrictions, can't accept that and construct tedious arguments about why they shouldn't be prevented from doing this thing they want because they are special (well, they don't say special but ffs that's what it boils down to).

FidgetArse · 20/02/2021 12:01

@Sausageroll67

It was unbelievable frustrating

FidgetArse · 20/02/2021 12:08

@bjjgirl

I know 5 Covid Deaths.
0 suicides

Its not a competition of which one had more deaths

Just because YOU dont know anyone that is dying of Covid. It doesnt mean its not happening

FidgetArse · 20/02/2021 12:09

@Tisforptarmigan
Iv been home a year!!!!

How much longer would you like me to stay home?

Magnificentmug12 · 20/02/2021 12:12

We have people vaccinated this time round. That makes it different.

Some people are just loving lockdown.

ssd · 20/02/2021 12:22

@AfternoonToffee, yes I'm in Scotland. NS saying no holidays is the least of my worries right now. I want my boys to get their lives back, they should be out partying and in nightclubs with their friends, instead of being alone. That thread that girl deleted is the opposite of what's going on here. But maybe getting into other boards here is a good idea. And I'm glad you got into the garden, I'm looking forward to sitting out again when its dry.
Anyways, I appreciate everyone's posts here. Flowers

See, this sort of comment is why I'm angry. I dont believe for one second anyone is loving this. Most people I know are resigned to it all and going their best to get through it and hold on. It doesn't suit anyone. So please, enough with the stupid comments.

Yes I am going through phases of being angry. Usually my poor DH gets the brunt of it.

It’s not anxiety about covid in my case. I am very worried we and our children will be paying for these lockdowns for years - not just financially but in terms of mental health, physical health, education, inequality, etc. The longer it goes on the bigger the impact. I feel like nobody is talking about these issues, it’s all about covid cases, noone is focusing on the harm being done by lockdown as it’s less “countable” and longer term.

CarlaH · 20/02/2021 13:28

I ask again, what is the alternative.

We cannot have the health service completely overwhelmed by a huge number of cases.

Hopefully the vaccine will work and the people who have had their jabs will not become sick enough to need to go to hospital.

Until that happens we cannot just open everything up again.

I would like those people who have been bleating that we shouldn't have lockdowns and that the vulnerable should simply keep themselves safe how they would actually deal with the overwhelming number of sick people that would result.

Would they like to stand at the doors of the hospital and say that they are full up so just fuck off home and die there.

The hospitals won’t be overwhelmed even if there is a rise in cases - we’ve vaccinated the most vulnerable groups. The ones that are by far the most likely to end up in hospital. I think they’re being far too cautious now and time is just ticking away while debts rise and peoples mental and physical health deteriorates.
minipie · 20/02/2021 14:41

I agree with you CarlaH that we must try to avoid the health service being overwhelmed.

Thankfully, hospital covid cases are plummeting. Hopefully soon (not yet, but soon) we will get to a point where the NHS will not be overwhelmed, even if we open things up, because most of those most likely to need beds with covid are being vaccinated.

My concern is that there are some people who are not just aiming for “NHS not being overwhelmed”. They are aiming for something much harder which is “zero covid” or “zero deaths” - eg stay locked down till everyone is vaccinated. I don’t think that is a proportionate aim when you consider the harm done by every extra week of restrictions.

ilovebagpuss · 20/02/2021 14:53

I’m not in the most difficult situations that some of you are and I am grateful for that. I find my anger is manifesting at work as I’ve had a whole year of doing a different role to what I did previously for many reasons mostly just so I can keep my job and keep getting paid.
So I’ve sort of sucked that up but the resentment is killing me I’m not happy doing what I’m stuck with and I’m becoming really snappy and impatient. I resent the visitors and the phone ringing because I’m sick of them all. I couldn’t understand one visitor because of her mask and just gave up and snapped “I just don’t understand what you mean” and she gave me the eye pop which I deserved.
I’ve got no tolerance left to give and it’s not me.

CrayonInThreeBits · 20/02/2021 14:59

The hospitals won’t be overwhelmed even if there is a rise in cases - we’ve vaccinated the most vulnerable groups. The ones that are by far the most likely to end up in hospital.

There's about 800,000 people who have only just been identified as CEV and who weren't previously in the top 4 groups who need vaccinating.

I probably shouldn't have sounded off on this thread really.

I should find one of the others populated by the people who seem to have regarded the entire lockdown as unnecessary.

@Sausageroll67 - I had a little cheer when I saw your post on that stupid thread, I think it's what a lot of us wanted to say really Grin Flowers

If the 'let's open everything up now!' mob get their way, we'll be locked down in summer, hope they enjoy it!
