Not that I like to listen to the PM, but I have contacted everyone I know to get them vaccinated now.

Nope, everyone I know in 1-4 was done a while ago! My 68 year old FIL is going tomorrow.. 🙌🏼

ComtesseDeSpair · 10/02/2021 21:48

There must be a fair proportion: when I used the calculator which tells you your position in the queue, it also tells you which groups are currently being vaccinated and the percentage of people in the current group in your area who’ve chosen to take it up when contacted, and it was only around 70% iirc, which really surprised me considering you’d think there’d be much higher take up among the groups most likely to actually get seriously ill or die.

ExpulsoCorona · 10/02/2021 21:49

Yes my mum (74). She got a fever which turned out to be Covid the day before she was due to have her jab. She is waiting until 4 weeks have passed between her diagnosis and rebooking the jab. I imagine there will be plenty of people in this situation.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 10/02/2021 21:52

DD is in group 2 but tested positive for covid the day before her vaccine appointment. She has to wait 4 weeks.

Boulshired · 10/02/2021 21:53

There seems to be quite a few locally, mainly due to quite a few villages and unable/not wanting to get to the closest hub which is at least 20 minute drive. They are offering taxis to get them there. Not sure if they have all got booked yet.

SymphonyofShadows · 10/02/2021 21:53

I think there a lot of regional variations in the availability of vaccine aren’t there? I was talking to someone working on the rollout locally, which is really moving fast, but her parents in another county haven’t had theirs yet.

LizzieSiddal · 10/02/2021 21:59

My SIL’s father is 82, can’t leave the house and has careers going in 4 times a day. Despite constant phone calls to his Drs, they can’t arrange someone to go out to him. They keep sending him invites to go to the large vaccinating centre. He’s in Scotland.

Boulshired · 10/02/2021 22:01

I am not sure it’s it’s quantity of vaccines or the placements of the hubs.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 10/02/2021 22:06

Nope. All my NHS friends and family members have had theirs plus my 78 year old grandfather. The rest of us are lower groups.

Frazzled2207 · 10/02/2021 22:12

all my older relatives have been thankfully, including some in their late 60s.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 11/02/2021 01:13

Dh group 4 only just booked in for next week
but still hasn't had letter.

121hugsneeded · 11/02/2021 02:33

My 'late sixties' next door neighbours have both refused. Both highly educated, well rounded individuals. Lovely people , I'll miss them if they catch it and don't survive.

NovemberR · 11/02/2021 02:43

Quite a lot and I'm sure there are many more. I don't know what the groups are, but MIL aged 84 with angina has heard nothing yet. Godfather, over 70 suffering from cancer and has had 2 strokes, heard nothing. His wife, ECV nothinh. BIL mid 60s ecv heard nothing. 2 further relatives late 60s ecv .no contact.

DD mid 20s works as a SN on a hospital ward with Covid patients. Not yet been vaccinated.

I'll be honest - the only people I know of who've had it are my parents..late 80s and they are now anxious cos none of their friends seem to have been done.

Scarby9 · 11/02/2021 02:44

Yes. Both housebound.
They should be offered it next week but one is likely to refuse, as she refuses any unusual physical touch.

pinkhappy · 11/02/2021 07:38

@NovemberR

Could you help them using the nhs online booking system?

Cloudsurfing · 11/02/2021 08:12

No, everyone I know in those groups have had it, and some in group 5.

People in those groups don’t need the letter or to be contacted, they can book on the NHS vaccination website
Abraxan · 11/02/2021 08:45

My older cousin - group 4 due to CEV. He's decide and he isn't having it as 'it's dangerous so he's not putting that into his body; and tons of people have died after the vaccine and it's all a cover up.' Same bloke who has had a ton of dodgy drugs from a bloke down the road 🤷‍♀️

Everyone else I know who's eligible in groups 1-4 have been vaccinated or have an appointment to be in next week.

Locally I know of some of group 5 currently being called.

3littlewords · 11/02/2021 09:14

Just 1 unvaccinated as we speak but is booked in tomorrow. My df is group 5 so hoping he will get an appointment in the coming weeks

cautiouscovidity · 11/02/2021 09:20

Quite a few (elderly) where I live. The vaccination centre is in our nearest big city. We live in a rural village and many of the older generation have not left the village in almost a year. Many are nervous of travelling to the vaccination centre either because of coming in to contact with so many people or literally just the travel. Those that did drive have lost their nerve having not used their cars in months, and those that rely on public transport don't want to use it. And some that are normally happy to drive are nervous due to the current weather (icy roads).

pinkhappy · 11/02/2021 09:33

@cautiouscovidity

This seems like something the gp surgery should fix. See e.g. www.prodrivermags.com/news/taxi-and-private-hire-industry-responds-again-to-covid-19-crisis-with-free-trips-to-vaccination-centres-for-over-80s/

They can also get vaccinated at home and the gp surgery should organise that too.

All of the residents in the care home where I work, most of the staff in the home although the staff are starting to get places at local hub.

ancientgran · 11/02/2021 10:21

Local TV had GP surgeries on asking people not to phone and ask for appointments despite Matt Hancock telling people to get online or phone.

TitusPullo · 11/02/2021 10:24

Just my grandmother, she has refused it as my long deceased grandfather wouldn’t have accepted it apparently. She’s never caught flu so will be fine. Hmm We’ve tried explaining it to her but she is certain she isn’t having it, so that’s that.

Lilmzsnowflake · 11/02/2021 10:32

Yes, me. Group 2, NHS front line but not at a hospital, I travel around to different sites. Keep getting missed off lists or unable to get to last minute slots in time due to distance. I’ve been promised a proper appointment link email this week but won’t hold my breath.
I’m not so worried about myself but about the various vulnerable people I’m in contact with. I’m certain there are other staff in the same position.
