Do we all at home have to self isolate? DP doesn't work from home and our fridge is empty as I was due to go shopping today ;(

You really cannot take a potentially covid positive baby to a pharmacy. Just think this through.

HSHorror · 10/02/2021 12:02

Did your baby have d&v by any chance?

whatswithtodaytoday · 10/02/2021 12:03

Did you get your baby tested for Covid?

Fressia123 · 10/02/2021 12:04

Exactly @ZoBo123 as far as I understand it, this baby in question has been off all of this week, and ours was off all of last week.

I’ve been isolating since 22nd January, you can do this. Try Amazon fresh or Amazon Morrison’s for same day delivery. Try Facebook local group for a volunteer to collect your prescription.

You can’t take you isolating child shopping.

ZoBo123 · 10/02/2021 12:07

Ask the nursery how long the isolation period is for. That will tell you when the symptoms first developed in the child (10 days before that date) and if your child was not in on the 48hours prior to that they are not a close contact

ohidoliketobe · 10/02/2021 12:07

Ring pharmacy and see if they'll deliver.
Bit a gamble leaving it til the last day to pick up a new prescription regardless, what if they were out of stock?

welshweasel · 10/02/2021 12:07

You need to establish when the contact was - the bubble may have closed but if your baby didn’t have contact with the baby with covid in the 48 hours prior to symptoms then you may not have to isolate.

Until you get clarification please stay at home, you can’t go to the pharmacy!

dementedpixie · 10/02/2021 12:17

If your baby was not in contact with the positive case in the 48 hours before symptoms started then they don't need to isolate

Fressia123 · 10/02/2021 12:36

We live semi rurally so it's not like we get all the deliveries that many can. They always give standard 10 days at the nursery. I know for fact the baby wasn't there yesterday and they still said 10 days. I've tried calling but nobody is answering. I'll email to see if I can get some clarification.

Our nursery closed a couple weeks ago fully. My DD didn’t have to isolate as she wasn’t a close contact within 48 hours of the positive child starting with symptoms. So positive attends 5 days a week but started with symptoms on Friday. Our DD last had contact with them on the Tuesday, thus more than 48 hours.

Our nursery were explicit with their communication on who did & did not need to isolate. It’s poor that yours hasn’t made this clear. Call yours to get more info.

You just need to accept it OP & deal with it. It’s shit but it’s the rules. The more you make excuse as to why you can’t do it, the more miserable you’ll be. Just put your big girl pants on & crack on. I live semi rurally, in fact arguably rurally. We can still get Sainsburys, Asda & Morrison’s deliveries. You must live near a village, does it have a Facebook group you could pop a message on for someone to do your shopping? You’ll be surprised how helpful people are! Do you have any friends that could help. You must know someone surely? Or at the very last resort, ask if nursery could help you. Maybe a staff member could shop for you if they are local or they know another parent who lives nearby! Think outside the box. Get some Amazon orders in, crafts & paint for your kid. If you are working, book annual leave. Or let them know your situation. etc etc.

AuntieStella · 10/02/2021 14:09

Your council will have appropriate community volunteers who do things like pick up and deliver prescriptions for those who have to SI. Easily found by google, and if you're quick they'll, get it done today

PrivateHall · 10/02/2021 14:11

I am really not clear here. Have you actually been told that your baby was in contact with a positive case? If your baby was off sick then the other baby went off, were they even in contact with eachother? Your baby only needs to isolate if they were in contact with the positive case within 48 hours of their symptoms starting, this does not sound to be the case here?

Fressia123 · 10/02/2021 14:19

They closed the whole class regardless of who was attending. So we all got the "you need to self isolate". Work has told me the best they can do is part time. Obviously the nursery is not doing things by the book as that child was not in yesterday nor today, so even then 10 days aren't needed.

dementedpixie · 10/02/2021 14:40

If the child wasn't in this week then your dd doesn't need to isolate. They can close the childcare institution but that doesn't mean your child needs to isolate

gallbladderpain · 10/02/2021 15:08

@Fressia123

Our baby was sick all of the past week, so for us it's coming to more than 10 days. He ended up having something completely different but we still had to isolate.
Wind your neck in OP ! I've a child who has had to isolate from the beginning of March 2020 which means that apart from what i could count on one hand of trips i've had out to the supermarket in a year I have had to do the same. DC has had the excitement of a few trips to hospital ! We are still alive and well. FFS it won't kill you and your baby to stay at home for a couple of weeks !
User7458 · 10/02/2021 15:12

Ring council about getting prescriptions, go to shop when DP gets home to look after baby

Fressia123 · 10/02/2021 15:23

The local shops are closed when he gets here. Which is still a couple of miles away and our car broke down so it's not like I can drive to one. The GP told me the services are for people who really need it. Apparently having a partner that goes out to work means I have to access to their volunteer network. The baby refuses to nap and I still haven't done any work.

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 10/02/2021 15:26

There will be a local council volunteer line to ring - they are fantastic and are there for emergencies like this.

google the number.

dementedpixie · 10/02/2021 15:29

If your child hasn't had contact they don't need to isolate. If the positive child hasnt been in this week then there won't have been contact.

Go to the shop, take your child.

Tryingtryingandtrying · 10/02/2021 15:29

If your baby and the other baby were both in on Monday then your baby has to isolate until next Thursday. If your baby wasn't in on Monday and the other baby was you don't have to isolate. If the other baby wasn't in on Monday and your baby was then you don't have to isolate.

Fressia123 · 10/02/2021 15:43

Exactly even the maths are wrong as it's up to Friday next week (inclusive). But they've counted the 10 days starting today. Maybe they did it for convenience reasons who knows. Anyways at least my council will help with the prescription so that's good!! So thank you to the PP for suggesting that one rather than my GP who were not helpful in the slightest.

OP posts:
Thefaceofboe · 10/02/2021 15:44

Your child has to isolate, not you but obviously you just have to stay at home with the child.

BadSkiingMum · 10/02/2021 15:45

I think you have to stay home?

mumwon · 10/02/2021 16:05

ring pharmacist & ask their advise re script (they might be able to do a sort of click & collect for you - you can't be the only person who has had this problem & ignore doctor about volunteers - ring & explain volunteer group situation & ask for help (check local facebook or ask neighbour)
Iceland do orders to
re food do you have either rice/pots/pasta? do you have onions? tinned toms? herbs/worcester sauce/spices? cheese? eggs? flour marg/butter? oil? beans of any type? any veg? Milk/tea/coffee? tell us what you have & we will give suggestions/help?
if you cant get food delivery today -don't Morrison's do emergency boxes or click & collect (its not exactly right but dh could do this on the way home)
