@TheReluctantPhoenix

If children are not to be vaccinated, does that rule out family holidays for the foreseeable future? Or are children excluded or intended to be vaccinated at some point ? Lots of unknowns here.

(As an aside, it says a lot about the MN demographic that holidaying in the U.K. is referred to as a ‘staycation’. Nope-a ‘staycation’ is where you take time off work and stay in your actual own home).

I take for those that arent vaccinated a pcr will be requested, however below certain age some kids arent even requested to present a pcr (uk i.e. is 12yo, spain is 6yo)

@TheyIsMyFamily

If we want to beat this virus, I think it's necessary. Even if it means some people can't travel in the near future for 'fun'.
some people don't travel for fun ive not seen my family because of the virus for over a year now, I've cancelled the flights there twice and so have my family. whilst I'm in the uk I'm doing minimum social life... so I'm taking the virus seriously because I can't wait to hug my nephew who I barely know...

meanwhile I see people in this country not caring about the rules, enjoying their xmas because it's xmas and trying to find how to bend the rules.. so banning international's travel it's not the only way to beating the virus... if we all did a bit, the virus would be easier to manage

It’s rather galling knowing the over 50s can go away on their jollies while I can’t see my fiancé who I’ve been separated from for 5 months so far. It’s almost as if I’m being punished for happening to be young, fit and healthy 🙄

EasterIssland · 05/02/2021 14:45

Countries that are accepting the "passport" that I'm aware of
Georgia
Iceland
Denmark

@southeastdweller

Yes I think it should be deleted as well. Shame the OP couldn’t be arsed to properly sum up the article and title, which most people can’t access, leading to all this confusion and anxiety.
I think it is quite clear with the amended title and the discussion that follows, but by all means report it if you feel inclined.

That is not what's happening @Iamclearlyamug.
MintyMabel · 05/02/2021 15:10

I'd be happy with it. I expect people would be much happier if the suggestion was nobody could come here unless they were vaccinated. It makes sense.

@pinkearedcow

This thread should just be zapped, all it does is stir up aminosity

I agree

Frequentflier · 05/02/2021 16:37

There's quite a lot of information on Twitter about this for those who want to read about it and won't be upset or made anxious by it.

Exacyly esp when we have stayed home so as to protect the vulnerable people and lost our rights and freedoms and also, jobs and incomes

If you want to travel have you contacted the country you want to travel to in order to find out the entry requirements? Each country will set its own regulations although the U.K. may require you to go to a quarantine hotel on your return.

Bluethrough · 05/02/2021 22:35

The quarantine restrictions will be long gone by spring, let along summer, our airports and airlines will cease to exist if they don't open up very soon.

No one will have a universally accepted vaccine passport this year, not least because it will lead to millions of the young unable to travel.

People already vaccinated would also need to go back to their health authority to request one, a huge admin nightmare.

The passports so far implemented are for returning residents, to avoid entry restrictions.

Stop worrying.

I agree. I'm over 50 and have been vaccinated. The young have sacrificed so, so much though to protect the elderly, it would be so wrong for them to then swan off on holiday, waving the young goodbye, while the young are stuck unable to go and with a massive financial bill for covid that they'll spend the rest of their lives paying.

Parker231 · 06/02/2021 10:47

Why don’t you read up on this. Which country do you want to go to and what are the entry requirements and do the U.K. government require you to go to a quarantine hotel on your return.

No point blaming any generations until you have checked the facts.

DreamingofDalyan · 09/02/2021 05:23

Im like you @Iamclearlyamug and in a Ldr with a turk. I managed to get over for 2 weeks Sept 20 and had hoped to visit at Easter but thats not looking a possibility.
Like you my family dont get it and think I should find someone local.
I dont want a vaccine if I was offered it as I dont think it will do much good but worried about the talk of not getting in without vaccination certificate.
I know its too early to worry as everything changing on daily basis but its a bloody nightmare. Just wish I could get him here but he doesnt want to leave Turkey.

Circumlocutious · 09/02/2021 06:10

Of course a certification system will be developed. If other countries demand proof of vaccination (e.g as Greece is now) then we will produce it. We’re not just going to tell people to get any letter from their GP which can be easily faked.

We’ve no plans currently for a holiday

But we won’t be taking one unless the (adult) children can, not sure i could look them in the face
