There are a number of threads here where the op or a family member has tested positive but they haven’t left the house except for a walk. That too as the op says is within there own family circle. Grocery by delivery- this really concerns me as this is pretty much how we are carrying on and i believed that we are at a low risk of catching Covid. Where or how are these posters catching it? Is there a chance if you catching it if you walk past a person? In open air? Doesn’t seem plausible 😳

Yep we stopped washing goods last summer when we found there was no evidence to support transmission by surfaces.

Although we also thought outdoor transmission to be unlikely.... 🙄.

@tenlittlecygnets

Why do you think the advice is to wash your hands?

Why do you think surfaces need to be cleaned?

There have been cases, where backwards track & trace have narrowed it down to surface contact.

Of course viruses spread on surfaces as well as through droplet transmission in the air. Thise droplets end up on surfaces. They do degenerate over time so the risk fades over time but why do you think we sanitise trolleys and are told yo wash our hands??
Sneeze on your hand, push a trolley, lose a door handle, use a mug, post a letter through a letterbox and you've put virus on these items. Who ever touches the same surface, picks up virus, probably touches other items, maybe rubs their eye or nose, grabs a sweet and pops it in their mouth. Hey presto, virus has been spread.
It happens. Yes degeneration lowers the risk and it differs for different viruses but there is conflicting evidence whether that's hours days or even weeks with Covid-19.

Watch the short advert issued by the Australian government I've linked to above. First one of many showing the same on the list if you Google virus spread video.

Our government want us dead.

The lack of effective controls and late decisions has caused so many cases and deaths. It’s a joke.

I also think that this virus is so new and so unknown it would be stupid to say categorically “surfaces are safe” or what have you. We just don’t know enough.

Just to be clear I’m not saying that the posters who say ’I don’t know where I got it’ are fear mongering or deliberately misleading.
I’m genuinely baffled. I do clean groceries and wipe down surfaces etc but I don’t know if these help or don’t have a method to figure out if my cleaning is helping in any way
Going by the threads and I completely understand it’s very easy to leave out info for eg: going out for a walk and chatting with someone but it doesn’t register as well it’s normal to talk to people isn’t it?
We haven’t been out anywhere- working from home no school and groceries delivered- I don’t like to go out to walks when it’s crowded but my husband keeps insisting- I still do cover my face with my scarf and try to keep distance and walk fast past anyone- but looks like it’s very much down to ‘luck’
