Do you think masks will still be a legal requirement

Come may?

OP posts:
TheChip · 31/01/2021 16:26

Yes

Quit4me · 31/01/2021 16:29

Sadly yes. I really really hope they go at some point during 2021

AnneLovesGilbert · 31/01/2021 16:31

Yes. Do you not?

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 31/01/2021 16:35

I didn't know they were a legal requirement now but it seems absolutely unlikely that we won't still be under covid measures in May. Do you think otherwise?

ssd · 31/01/2021 16:36

Of course. I dont mind masks and I have to wear them at work. I just want my dcs to have a social life again. Sitting at home at 21 all the time is not normal.

Fuckinlonely · 31/01/2021 16:37

Nope I'm choosing to be positive and believe that sanity will prevail and soon. Masks will be gone soon!

HerLadySheep · 31/01/2021 16:38

I think masks will be one of the last things to go! I expect to be wearing them until next year.

PicsInRed · 31/01/2021 16:39

I'm on the fence, only because if you look at the riots happening in Europe (about control generally) and factor in that the UK's traditional rioting season kicks off in Spring...the government are going to be treading a fine line to retain compliance and prevent total civil disobedience.

DianaT1969 · 31/01/2021 16:39

When shops open and I have reason to use public transport again, I'll only have to wear a mask around 2-3 hours per week. That's nothing compared to someone working in a hospital ward. I'll just be happy to meet friends and have go for coffee again.

Parker231 · 31/01/2021 16:40

I think masks will be around for a long time so that those who haven’t yet had their vaccines are protected.

I’d like when the schools go back that everyone is using masks to try and keep the transmission down

Angel2702 · 31/01/2021 16:40

Yes masks will be one of the very last restrictions to be lifted.

Beaniecats · 31/01/2021 16:45

Oh yes.
SAGE will never release restrictions it is whether the government follows SAGE or breaks away
Whitty wants restrictions to continue for foreseeable
Its seriously worrying

I agree, it's coming, civil disobedience, rioting
Muchtoomuchtodo · 31/01/2021 16:49

I’m used to wearing a mask when I’m out of the house now. I’m happy to continue wearing one if it allows other things to restart.

I’m used to wearing a mask, apron, visor and gloves for most of the day at work so perhaps I find them less of an issue than those who don’t.

WunWun · 31/01/2021 16:49

What possible reason could there be that masks wouldn't be required in may? Or am I missing something?

Kazzyhoward · 31/01/2021 16:53

Masks will be one of the last things to go. Things will start opening up again around Easter, but masks will still be a requirement for "close contact" things such as shops, hairdressers, gatherings, etc., probably for at least the rest of the year.

RedToothBrush · 31/01/2021 16:56

They are most likely until next spring.

LaceyBetty · 31/01/2021 17:02

Definitely. For another year I think.

lockeddownandcrazy · 31/01/2021 17:03

I'd say so - along with social distancing. For a good while yet.

Good to see Home bargains (went to buy washing powder) enforcing masks and good compliance levels.

AntiHop · 31/01/2021 17:03

Yes.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 31/01/2021 17:10

SAGE will never lift restrictions? What an odd thing to say. Maybe it's a misunderstanding of their role.

Masks might become a more commonplace issue in winter.

I can see minor restrictions being necessary sometimes, in some places. But, in the absence of a great setback, a good deal more normality slowly coming back.

RaspberryCoulis · 31/01/2021 17:13

God I hate masks. Loathe and detest the bastard things. The day where I can throw every single fucking one in the bin cannot come too soon.

(And yes, before the Covid police mask-lovers jump on the thread, I do wear one. Not because I think it makes much difference, but because I don't want a fine. I'm the person waiting until the very last second to hook the elastic over my ear, and pulling it off as I'm walking through the door.)

starfish4 · 31/01/2021 17:15

I think the earliest masks will go if after everyone has been offered a vaccine, as it's only fair to protect everyone. Also, by that point they'll know if enough have had vaccine and we're keeping good control.

Floppywin · 31/01/2021 17:17

Definitely here in May still and a lot longer for masks.

Not good, but with the vaccines we will see our way out of this - so there is horizon in view.

I'm the same. I'm not ripping the stupid thing off as quickly as I used to as I had a cartilage piercing done in December and learnt the hard way how much it hurts!

I avoid going anywhere I need a mask as much as possible and if we had to wear them outside I'd hardly leave the house. The sooner the they're gone the better.
