Hi I get my vaccine as CEV. Can my husband get one too?

HunterHearstHelmsley · 30/01/2021 15:34

No.

Spacemonkey2016 · 30/01/2021 15:34

Absolutely not.

FourTeaFallOut · 30/01/2021 15:35

No not unless he is eligible under his own terms. If he is your carer then I think that's group 6.

Hadenough80 · 30/01/2021 15:36

If he is your carer then he would be in priority 6, I know some carers were offered the vaccine when they took the person they cared for for it.
But I think if that is if they had left over vaccine.

studentvera · 30/01/2021 15:36

Yes he's my carer

OP posts:
studentvera · 30/01/2021 15:36

So what category is 6 please?

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 30/01/2021 15:38

Why should he? When there are still CEV people waiting for theirs. Confused

FourTeaFallOut · 30/01/2021 15:38

Group 6 is alongside others who are vulnerable.

Agh great thank you so much!

I’m afraid carers aren’t a priority group (unless a priority in their own right). Group 6 is those 16 to 65 with certain medical conditions.

SlippersForFlippers · 30/01/2021 15:40

No, everyone has to wait for their own group otherwise there's no point of having a grouping system.

FinallyFluid · 30/01/2021 15:41

No

FourTeaFallOut · 30/01/2021 15:41

Priority six for unpaid carers.

Orangeblossom1977 · 30/01/2021 15:41

My DH is CEV here I've not been offered it, however I did see someone on here say they have been. (which I was surprised at)

studentvera · 30/01/2021 15:43

Thank you so pleased they've been added to group 6 that's great

Put his details in the NHS booking system and see if it allows him to book. The groupings vary area to area. We are booking for group 5 now. I'm ECV and had mine this morning. I could have had it last week. I think they are merging groups to not waste appointments. Just keep trying.

Fourtea's link says only for NI

FourTeaFallOut · 30/01/2021 15:45

How you go about deminstrating that you are an unpaid carers is beyond me though. Presumably there will be some checks?

Hmmph · 30/01/2021 15:45

My last link is more up to date and doesn’t mention carers. This might be a change or an oversight. PPs are right in that previous guidance did include carers:

“This also includes those who are in receipt of a carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if the carer falls ill.”

FourTeaFallOut · 30/01/2021 15:45

Sorry, lazy link, I'll find another.

nether · 30/01/2021 15:46

There is some campaigning to get all cohabitants of the CEV immunised (probably in category 6) because the very conditions that make one CEV may also lead to a sub optimal response to the vaccine. It is a form of extra protection round them, but it might not be confirmed until more evidence is in about role in preventing transmission.

However given what JVT said about it being close to inconceivable that there was not done useful level of impeding transmission, there seems little reason to wait, and I really hope it's added soon.

Otherwise, have him accompany you to your appointment, and ask if they expect to have any 'end of day' vaccines spare and if so if he can have it

BashfulClam · 30/01/2021 15:46

No. My elderly CEV mother had just been given her appointment.

Orangeblossom1977 · 30/01/2021 15:48

Here is says UK as well, group 6.

contact.org.uk/news-and-blogs/parent-carers-added-to-covid-19-vaccine-priority-list-across-the-uk/

Might be of use to those with CEV children too...

Orangeblossom1977 · 30/01/2021 15:49

They do that with flu vaccine nether in terms of priority as well
