The EU is unlikely to admit that it has got ANYTHING wrong.

PicsInRed · 29/01/2021 21:32

Basically, the EU belong on the CF stories thread.

Correct, AIBU or the relationships board.

EU as the abusive ex, the UK having fled the relationship. ROI and NI are the kids, used as pawns by Mr EU to control Ms UK and now teach her a lesson, with zero regard to the dangers wrought on the Irelands kids.

UK, have my first ever "LTB".

LastTrainEast · 29/01/2021 21:32

@ZooKeeper19

OK so let me get this straight.
  1. UK says UK comes first in AZ vaccine so they will not provide EU with what they promised.
  1. EU says "ok, but we keep Pfizer vaccine for EU then"
  1. UK says "cool, NI is still in EU, we will use NI as backdoor to get what WE want"
  1. EU says "nah bro, sorry, YOUR deal that YOU drafted and YOU presented as YOUR massive win says we can stop that kind of BS and we are stopping that now"
  1. UK cries "about the EU being aggressive, shameful" and what not because....

Anyone else finds this hilarious? UK wanted Brexit, they knew what they voted for, they wanted to control their borders so there. Go. Enjoy.

Well I laughed at your ludicrous fantasy version there. Is that something you found on Youtube or the David Icke forum? How about adding some lizards to spice it up.
Sillybillypoopoomummy · 29/01/2021 21:32

Now everyone can see the EU for who they are: people who will threaten a trade war over their incompetence (note the UK has stayed totally quiet). The backlash has started and that means Merkel will not be quiet for long ( as someone who was not allowed an earlier German deal because it had to be ‘EU’.)

derxa · 29/01/2021 21:33

@bailey999

The ardent remainers on the Brexit board are rabidly defending the EU, apparently this is all the UKs fault Hmm
FFS
cyclingmad · 29/01/2021 21:34

You have to laugh at their idiocy. You have Macron basically publicly saying the vaccine is not effective and then on other hand as part of the EU they want that very same vaccine

Lollll do they think people are stupid fhst we will fall for their spin and trying to make it about the UK.

Meanwhile BoJo just rubbing it in their faces (unintentionally) by buying up doses of new vaccines hahaha 😆

Viviennemary · 29/01/2021 21:34

I've never regretting voting leave for a single minute. Brexit is likened to a divorce. It's like the abusive ex. Divorce me and I'll make you sorry. I'll cause as much trouble as I can. Their behaviour is despicable. I hope more countries will leave this ghastly corrupt organisation.

Aloethere · 29/01/2021 21:34

I love how people are suddenly pretending they give a shit about NI. You give a shit now that you can push the knife in to the EU and spout about how actually brexit was good thing, half of people in Britain don't have the faintest notion about NI or ROI nor do they care.

MRex · 29/01/2021 21:34

Just by way of understanding EC "logic" on this latest stage, wouldn't it be easier to pop secret vaccine supplies onto a boat out of Ostend than to smuggle them up through Ireland into NI and then back over to Liverpool? Not that any company is being crazy (unlike EC), but just as a point of logic.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 29/01/2021 21:35

I voted Remain. I'm still convinced Brexit was a mistake.

But this, this is just right and a complete and utter act of sore losers.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 29/01/2021 21:35

not right

PronounssheRa · 29/01/2021 21:35

A government source said article 16 may have been inadvertently triggered by “someone who did not understand the political implications” of the decision.

You really couldn't make this up the incompetence is astonishing

Spiratedaway · 29/01/2021 21:36

Voted remain and until now I was glad but not now

Your post was hilarious. Here are some facts:
  1. AZ made a contract with UK to supply vaccines. As the UK putup initial funding for the Oxford vaccine (originally-back in May), the UK did say that they were to be supplied first although this is unconfirmed as to whether it is in contract. Since then, AZ has formed contracts with other countries and the EU and has been supplying them.
  2. Phizer also has a contract with the UK (June) as well as other countries and EU (Nov). Again, Phizer has been sending out vaccines to all the contracted parties with some delays.
  3. There has been no mention aside from the Euro Commission about using NI has a backdoor. On the contrary, haven't you heard, the UK is well supplied!!?!!
  4. Are you referring to the contract with AZ as your point makes no sense. Only thing the UK is 'winning' is a good vaccine roll out, perhaps.
  5. The UK govt has been very quiet about the current happenings. The tabloid media has been less so.

I do feel you need to check your facts and keep up with current events.

Btw, as for controlling our borders, the only border at issue is the one currently being 'controlled' by the Euro Commission.

What! So it's an admin error now?

HeyHeyImABeLeaver · 29/01/2021 21:37

ZooKeeper19 - have you had one too many shandies?Smile

SushiSoozie · 29/01/2021 21:38

So does that mean that after all of their bleating and using the US as pressure that there must never be a hard border in Ireland, they have caused one?

Where have you been? Brexit already did that! Honestly the insular nature of UK news is amazing, you have no idea what is actually going on.

What BS! It's completely deliberate retaliation on the part of the Commission.

Between that and them releasing a version of the AZ contract where redacted sections were clerly visible, it's 'Carry on up the Commission' today.
Justthebeerlighttoguide · 29/01/2021 21:38

The spegial article is very interesting!! Posted earlier up thread, it said the eu haggled for so long over the price, literally being a couple of euros that they have now lost out, said in desperation they have paid 2,000 a jab for one vaccine Shock

Said its all very well acting as one but not when people are dying.

iamremain · 29/01/2021 21:39

@Viviennemary

I voted out. I hope the remainers are eating their words. The EU is not an honourable or play fair institution. IMHO.
I voted remain.

And I am eating my words.

sundowners · 29/01/2021 21:39

It's just so snide, so petty, so pathetic, so bitter. Its disgraceful. The German press has been saying it this week too- these vile actions don't speak for the majority of Germans at all.

FOJN · 29/01/2021 21:39

*The ardent remainers on the Brexit board are rabidly defending the EU, apparently this is all the UKs fault"

I'm too scared to go over there but could you ask them what they're smoking, I'd like some Grin

SushiSoozie · 29/01/2021 21:40

Do you realise that Ireland is in the EU and Northern Ireland is not? There is a border and always has been.

Oreservoir · 29/01/2021 21:41

@MaddieElla. Have you not read all of the comments from remainers saying how disappointed they are?
