If you could choose which vaccine would you go for?

Would you go for Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, Oxford or Moderna? Not sure if there are more but these are the ones everyone talks about..
Is there a reason behind your choice?

I’d take any that is offered. However preferably the one with the highest efficacy!

CoffeeWithCheese · 27/01/2021 19:41

I got the option of picking - different sites doing different vaccines. I've gone for - the one with the easiest drive to get to (think it's AZ)

Bookriddle · 27/01/2021 19:44

I would take any offered, my wife is a nurse and only got the choice of the Pfizer one

TwelvePaws · 27/01/2021 19:49

Oxford is the Astra Zeneca one. They’re not 2 different ones.

ChocChip01 · 27/01/2021 19:56

I’m a nurse and was lucky that I could go to one of two sites to get my jab one was offering AZ and the other Pfizer. I went for AZ as they had slots available next day compared to waiting a week for Pfizer.

felineflutter · 27/01/2021 20:11

I think we have more chance of a second vaccine with the AZ although my first shot did knock me for six! I would have preferred the Pfizer DH had that one.

lovemirage · 27/01/2021 20:19

I would take one dose of each to supercharge my immune system.

Devlesko · 27/01/2021 20:20

None.

frozendaisy · 27/01/2021 20:22

First one offered

frozendaisy · 27/01/2021 20:22

Bit like cocktails

Resistthethoughtpolice · 27/01/2021 20:22

I've had the Pfizer, it was the first available and the best efficacy. I'm a frontline NHS worker.

Acovic · 27/01/2021 20:23

AZ - the evidence for delayed second dose is better.

I"m mad that the government have changed the dosage schedule for Pfizer. There is no evidence to back up what they are doing. I wouldn't take one on the current dose schedule.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 27/01/2021 20:24

Originally I wanted Oxford, I was actually offered Pfizer, and just very relieved to have had it at all.

Obviouslynotallthere · 27/01/2021 20:28

I've had Astra Zenica Oxford. NHS staff

longtompot · 27/01/2021 20:39

AZ

Athinginitself · 27/01/2021 20:49

I would have taken either, have been offered Pfizer which was my preference as have a long term condition and am really not that well at the moment and anecdotally have heard people struggling more with side effects (albeit v short lived) of AZ.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 27/01/2021 20:55

Any. I’ve had the Pfizer first dose. The evidence shows 90% efficacy 2 weeks after the first dose.

espressoontap · 27/01/2021 21:04

I'm a nurse. Had the Pfizer one yesterday and glad I did. Colleagues who work elsewhere had AZ and it's knocked them for six, they've reported it via yellow card.

WildHorsesRunInMe · 27/01/2021 21:09

As above. I'm a nurse. Had the Pfizer, no side effects apart from sore arm. Heard from colleagues who have received AZ side effects are worse. Both are high effective though and I would have been happy to receive either.

WildHorsesRunInMe · 27/01/2021 21:11

Also just to echo the other poster who mentioned it...the Oxford vaccine is the AstraZeneca.

SingANewSongChickenTikka · 27/01/2021 21:13

Whatever I’m offered

reginafalange2020 · 27/01/2021 21:37

I am a Covid vaccinator and in my experience people feel worse after the AstraZeneca compared to the Pfizer. It all resolves quickly but a few of my patients have felt terrible for 12 hours or so. A small price to pay though.

I'd have either tbh x

tobee · 27/01/2021 21:45

Dh had AZ yesterday and slept nearly all day today. But otherwise feels fine.

Can I ask you a question about the Pfizer? I hear that it's quite sensitive to being moved, what happens if it gets shaken? Does it not work?
WiseUpJanetWeiss · 27/01/2021 22:20

The mRNA is held in lipid nanoparticles that can become damaged/altered if the vaccine is shaken, so it may not work well. It is not so fragile it can’t be transported at all when thawed, but its journey times are limited. It can’t be transported at all when diluted.
