Do you feel sorry for Boris?

Seeing the headlines in the papers today and there seems a lot of sympathy for him. The front pages see him looking really forlorn and sorrow regarding the death toll.

When you think a year ago he was planning on ushering in what he deemed as a golden age of Britain. Now 12 months later it's in tatters.

I can understand the sympathy, but wonder whether a Labour PM would be offered the same.

No! None whatsoever.

Where do I start? Where do I stop?

The list is too long.

BJ and his opportunistic group of sponge balls are full of slime.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 27/01/2021 22:10

I feel sorry for the families of those who died. I feel sorry for the NHS staff caring for them.

I don't have a drop of sympathy for Boris...

NoWordForFluffy · 27/01/2021 22:14

@Hawkins001

The bottom line, Boris is one person, and we have all seen on different shows , eg commander in chief, the west wing, the good wife, ect and the various power plays from various different sources and groups, then imagine trying to guide the general public on trying to keep them safe, ect with those and other factors I've probably missed, you imagine your self in Boris, shoes, then ask yourself whether you think you could better ?
I do think I could've done, actually. Many people could have.

It's been a shambles from the get go.

luckylavender · 27/01/2021 22:15

Certainly not. He's been found out big time.

Labobo · 27/01/2021 22:15

@jitterbugintomybrain

No he's a narcissist who has blood on his hands. He is responsible for the brexit shitshow and probably the breakup of the UK.
To be fair, oily, weaselly Cameron is responsible for the Brexit shitshow. He called the referendum and then took no steps to ensure the public were correctly informed, nor did he prevent dodgy geezers like Farrage from spinning webs of lies to get people to vote in sheer ignorance. Cameron just skipped off when the deed was done, and has distanced himself from it ever since. Weasel. Boris is a toad but he didn;t start this sorry mess. He was against it, initially.
inquietant · 27/01/2021 22:17

No.

Hawkins001 · 27/01/2021 22:18

I understand your perspectives

Sunplanetearth8 · 27/01/2021 22:20

Oh god no. Not in the slightest. While I don’t vote for his political party, I’m not withholding sympathy because of any political allegiance (despite her voting track record, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Theresa May).

Boris Johnson is a hopeless leader and we have suffered for it. He keeps messing it up - and even still. Christmas was a debacle.

Sure he had a baby and Covid. But the baby was his choice and he was shaking hands in covid wards and not wearing a mask before he caught Covid... I mean, no one deserves to get sick but even that was evidence of his poor decision making.

So many people have died because of his failure to act. So many people have suffered in a multitude of ways.

I don’t feel sorry for him at all. I feel sorry for the rest of us who are living under his “leadership”.

Nat6999 · 27/01/2021 22:23

No chance.

Due to his incompetence 100,000 people have died on his watch. He made a mess of things from day 1 of this virus arriving in this country, lied about PPE, didn't put the country under lockdown quickly enough, missed several SAGE meetings, didn't take the full advice of SAGE, let Dominic Cummings get away with the Barnard Castle debacle. That is before he employed Tory donors & mates for things like track & trace, paid them stupid amounts of public money, bought the wrong type of PPE that cost millions. The test, track & trace system wasn't fit for purpose, he wouldn't allow local authorities to run their own systems, even though they knew their own areas better & could run a more efficient system. You can tell when he is lying, the messier his hair is, the more he is lying.

Carlislemumof4 · 27/01/2021 22:31

Yes.

I really dislike the blame game and am unimpressed with Keir Starmer again today. The number of Covid deaths is a tragedy but this is a new virus and it's no one's fault.

It's the government's job to balance health and the economy, looking back I think it's true to say they probably did their best with the info they had at the time.

Sick of people I know making snide remarks about 'eat out to help out' etc who have been travelling up and down the country and abroad throughout. Bend all the rules when it suits them. All household mixing they do 'socially distanced of course'... yeah right.

Boris and the government have got it right with the vaccine programme, that's something to be lauded and absolutely where the hope lies in the long term.

ThelmaNotLouise · 27/01/2021 22:36

My cat could’ve done better with both paws tied behind her back.

Seriously, you’re using FICTIONAL TV dramas to excuse Johnson’s repeated failures? Time and time again he was urged to act by scientists and either dithered or went against them, only for us to see another surge in cases and more deaths. 100,000 people have died - how can you possibly think he’s done the best he could?

Pan2 · 27/01/2021 22:37

But it isn't a 'new virus' in terms of this year. Half the deaths were since November.
Still following a herd immunity policy (since Cummings days) dressed up as incompetence. They are ruthless and will happily kill older people off who are a drain on the state.

We just haven't grasp how utterly venal this lot is.

Pan2 · 27/01/2021 22:38

It's all even happening in front of us. Hiding in plain view, and we don't see it.

Honeyroar · 27/01/2021 22:39

Boris and the government had the potential to get it right with the vaccine programme but have done their usual “last minute fuck up of a good idea” by not doing it properly (extending the time between vaccines despite manufacturers saying it’s not a great idea) and probably making it much less effective.

But the one thing I’m actually enjoying about Covid is watching Boris struggle and squirm, realising that his bumbling fool with scruffy hair act isn’t working anymore. He deserves the stress.

FancySomeChips · 27/01/2021 22:40

No
He fucked us over corona and he fucked us over Brexit
Vile man

NoWordForFluffy · 27/01/2021 22:40

It's the government's job to balance health and the economy, looking back I think it's true to say they probably did their best with the info they had at the time.

If you think that then there's no hope for you.

I utterly despair of people who are so hell bent on supporting BoZo that they're disregarding fact.

Pan2 · 27/01/2021 22:41

But he isn't stressed. It's an act. It's part of the plan, but now just hoping that we are still too dim to notice the excesses of it. Will be smirking back in No.10.

Hawkins001 · 27/01/2021 22:42

I used fictional examples, to illustrate that in the corridors of power, that a situation is x but what the papers know and then the public could be completely different perspectives.

noblegreenk · 27/01/2021 22:44

No. He's an incompetent nob.

Hawkins001 · 27/01/2021 22:45

36ThelmaNotLouise I just asked if people themselves with out knowing all the battles of different groups, trying to guide the public ect could of have achieved better than boris.

SundayGirl86 · 27/01/2021 22:45

Absolutely not

GlamourSpider · 27/01/2021 22:45

Nope

awishes · 27/01/2021 22:47

No I do not. Hopefully there will be a criminal enquiry at the end of this.
Shake hands
Don't wear masks
No PPE
Don't listen to the scientists
Ignore expert's advice

Shameful.

DazedandConfused27 · 27/01/2021 22:48

Not one bit. It's not a job I would want but he put himself there and has enjoyed all the benefits while being utterly incompetent at the job.

Him and his corrupt government have put money before lives, lining the pockets of their friends while once again the most vulnerable in the country are left to flounder.

ThreadKillxr · 27/01/2021 22:49

No, LTB.
