AIBU to ask what is the worst lockdown rule you have broken?

EmJay19 · 24/01/2021 22:49

AIBU to say a lot of (but not all) people have broken the rules to varying degrees once or twice even when they generally stick to the rules?

What’s the worst thing you’ve done?

I went to the pub with a friend when I shouldn’t have done as not from same household. Sitting outside would have been ok at that point...

These restrictions have really highlighted how so many people could not cope with being a single parent who has no family support

FaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaBlah · 25/01/2021 09:04

There’s a world of difference between hugging someone you are in a childcare bubble with and this would already be exposed to, or giving someone a lift to a funeral, and having house parties and fucking strangers off tinder.

Come and have a stroll through COVID ITU and see if you still need that party or shag. Hmm

My 12 year old cousin passed away unexpectedly last Friday. I have cuddled her mum and visited her several times.

Before Christmas I also drove from Scotland to the south of England to stay with my boyfriend for a week (as he was working down there), but I didn't leave the airb&b except for walks, and isolated for 10 days once home

truthisalie · 25/01/2021 09:07

Is it a survey?

mommybunny · 25/01/2021 09:07

After the first lockdown but before rules were liberalised in the summer my DFIL had a fall in the golf course and went to hospital. Thank God he never got COVID but when he came out we realised he had no power of attorney for DH or DSIL to handle things for him if he became incapacitated. I’m a lawyer so I helped him draft his PoA over the phone but he kept paying for and printing the wrong document. So DH and I went to his house to help him print it and sign it. Then we had to go to get one of his friends to attest my DFIL was of sound mind and had willingly made the decision to execute the PoA and take it to DSIL to get a signature from her too. At the time only one person was allowed to visit only one other household and it had to be outdoors. Technically it was breaking the rules, and I had paranoid visions of our car being tracked as we traveled throughout Surrey to get this necessary task accomplished.

truthisalie · 25/01/2021 09:08

whatthehelldowecare, you've nothing wrong. Sorry about your cousinFlowers

wanderings · 25/01/2021 09:08

Oh yes, and a hairdresser friend cut my hair, in her house; and I paid her generously. No apologies, no regrets.

burfordbrown · 25/01/2021 09:11

@Honeyhoops

Have visited my dad (in my "bubble"), PIL and other relatives throughout.

Slightly went over the permitted bubbles at Christmas.

Have had a coffee at a friends house.

Have went shopping with a friend.

Drive up to 30 mins to go for dog walks.

DH goes to a friends house every weekend.

Have allowed dd to have a friend over.

Possibly other things that I've forgot. I wear a mask in shops but don't actually believe they do much, if anything.

Sound so proud as well
WildOrchids67 · 25/01/2021 09:11

So I've been called a moron and a bellend for daring to see my friends a few times. But frankly I don't care, because if seeing my friends stops me from hanging out of my 3rd floor bedroom window in the middle of the night again, wondering what it would be like to just fall out, then I'm going to do it.

Duggeehugs82 · 25/01/2021 09:12

Its like a bragging thread really weird

Had my mum over in lockdown 1, the day DC2 was born.
Post lockdown when we were only supposed to have garden visits, sister came in the house to see DC2 - it was cold and I wasn't putting the baby outside.

brunetteonthebus · 25/01/2021 09:13

We had our (allowed) Christmas Day mixing with my DM (lives alone and we're her support bubble) and my MIL and FIL, and then we did exactly thing same on Boxing Day which was not allowed. They live very locally, and thinking was if any of us had it Christmas Day then Boxing Day wasn't going to make any difference. None of us see anyone else, all shopping is delivered and anyone working, WFH.

We drove 30 minutes for a walk yesterday, and whilst we were said 30 minutes away we dropped of my DFs birthday presents but we put them on the doorstep, stood well back and chatted for 10 minutes. I haven't seen him in months.

Those are our only two infractions. When I see people with six 'bubbles' a piece I don't think we're doing too badly for nearly a year.

ThanksTo everyone who has lost someone. You'll never hear me judging someone for hugging a family member at a funeral.

LilacMauvePurple · 25/01/2021 09:13

Took mum shopping before Christmas, she was adamant she wanted to go, after I’d done lots for her online
Older children came home for Christmas, stayed a week.

Don’t give a toss, what anyone else thinks about that

WhateverHappenedToMe · 25/01/2021 09:14

Opened the front door when the supermarket delivery man insisted he had to see a face even though I told him and registered on the order that we were isolating on return from an overseas trip.

southeastdweller · 25/01/2021 09:15

Travel miles for something to do, exercise many times a day, turn off bluetooth when I'm out and about.

Yeah. Fuck it all.

speakout · 25/01/2021 09:15

I have hugged my daugher.

Bluesheep8 · 25/01/2021 09:15

Just makes a complete mockery of the sacrifices other people are making.

Sweetener12 · 25/01/2021 09:17

We had a close family party for my DM's Birthday she turned 55, so we decided to have a celebration. We never repeated this for other family members though and just sent flowers and smartshow 3d videos for their Birthdays, but we couldn't skip DM's.

Yeah, it's very bragging

Makes a change from the ones bragging about how hard they're doing lockdown. Very interesting to get an insight into what other people are doing.

Yep.

Sat with my friend in the pub in Leicester which never came properly out of lockdown. I've stayed at my old house a few times (sorting stuff out) as I'm currently getting divorced
