Staggered reopening of schools by area?

Jenny Harries has said today that schools might be reopened gradually by region, depending on the local infection rate.

What do you think about this? And which areas do you reckon would be first/last?

'But you weren’t supposed to travel between tiers.'

But a supermarket is essential travel. If the only supermarket you could access was in another tier you'd have been allowed to go. Or do you think Jenny would have expected you to starve?

Blimey. It's no wonder education is in the state it is when some teachers can't do the most basic of problem solving.

See, you’re already putting in caveats.

“Masks actually do very little in reality”
It depends on the mask. I bought mine as it came out on top with Which reporting it filters up to 98%.

As for JH, I cannot believe she has not gone away yet. But then neither has Bozo. Rather unfortunate as it would have been great to have a female scientist, not just a male scientist talking sense.

Jenny Harries has been catastrophically wrong where children and schools are concerned. It’s worrying that people think she talks sense!

If we go back, just as before, schools opening at capacity, no masks and no possible social distancing, we will end up with deaths going way up again.

They need a plan for schools other than ‘just open them like before’-I suspect opening them by area will be problematic.

The lateral flow tests to replace self isolation in secondary schools is frankly dangerous and will close schools quicker than anything.

I really hope it's not before Easter. I like having them home safe. Miss my own time but I want them safe

Apart from the obvious masks, protecting teachers etc...

Opening the schools should be part of the general reopening of the country. We’ve reopened too early twice now. Do we really want to do it again, see the cases not low enough so they can be properly contained with TT and then a new spike happening? Which will make us send the children back home again etc etc.... and see adults going into lockdown or restricted life again?

I mean in the north. Bar the few weeks in the summer, I’ve had restrictions of some sort every single day. Not able to see friends and family etc etc. I dint want that to continue ‘just so we can open the schools again’ and see cases rising again.

London will be first because.... y'know.....London.

Tis the most important!

SlipperyLizard · 21/01/2021 11:27

Cases were steady in tier 3 areas, then rocketed in tier 2 areas. The difference wasn't schools, which were open in both, it was people in Tier 2 mixing in restaurants etc when they shouldn’t have been. That’s what has caused the new lockdown, not schools being open.

Have you heard of the new strain, slippery and how it rampaged through schools in London and the South East just before Christmas?

Secondary school kids were the most infected subset of the population.
