If you could have back 1 thing from pre-covid restrictions... what would it be?

OP posts:

Being able to see any friends and family, I don't know anyone within my town I can meet up with. Starting to feel very lonely with a toddler. We get out every day, just me and little one but I miss doing my usual meet ups with friends and their children.

HappyFlamingo · 18/01/2021 15:57

School here too. My youngest DC hates online school.

stayathomer · 18/01/2021 15:59

Outside of family and friends, weirdly just soft play and playgrounds. can't wait to just watch my kids run full pelt and play properly!

Deelish75 · 18/01/2021 15:59

Me - swimming pools
DP - go to a football match
DS - go to football training
DD - go to school.

All of us to see family and go out for a meal.

Holidays 🛫

Oh and weddings! Have missed out on 3 which would have been really good fun.

GypsyLee · 18/01/2021 16:04

My work, waking up with fresh air, some of my freedom.

Hailtomyteeth · 18/01/2021 16:04

I miss live music. But I don't want to go back to it. I can't imagine ever being in a crowd again.

WhateverJohnnyMcNofriends · 18/01/2021 16:05

Going down the pub with my friends

WildWaterSwimmer · 18/01/2021 16:05

Eating out: pub lunch stop with a country walk; nice restaurant evening with a friend or two or three; weekend brunch with best friend; celebratory posh meal out with OH; bottomless bubbly dinner deal for laughs and catching up with friend; afternoon tea with friends; or spur of the moment family dinner out.

CMOTDibbler · 18/01/2021 16:10

From before March 23rd 2020? Having parents. Both of mine died in the first month of lockdown.
Realistically, I miss not thinking about what will be off the cards next, and not having to think in terms of being prepared to be isolated for 2 weeks at any time. I'm so bored of thinking about food

grapewine · 18/01/2021 16:10

@bastedyoungturkey

I can’t even remember, it seems like this is all normal now.
This is how I feel lately. It's shit.
AllWashedOut · 18/01/2021 16:11

Aside from the big stuff, family and school, it would have to be a toss up between eating out and cinema. In fact, given the last pub meal I had, I'll edit that to cinema.

In lockdown 1 it was coffee shops. Now I'm happy with my own perfected brew. In a shop, you don't get much change from a fiver and too often it's a fail - cold or burnt milk.

Angel2702 · 18/01/2021 16:11

Being able to have a meal with family at home.

BringPizza · 18/01/2021 16:13

One thing only would be the gym. Two things would be the gym and my team at work.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 18/01/2021 16:17

Other than the obvious - school and friends/family my selfish desires are.

  1. Live theatre (properly, no masks etc)
  2. Going out for dinner.
  3. Face to face university and conferences. I’d like to keep some online stuff as it’s made so much more accessible but I miss the networking and off the cuff discussions.

I actually really like meeting up outside even in the cold, wet and mud I have discovered so I’m going to try and keep a bit of that as whilst I love the pub and restaurants I spent way too much money on those things.

Firenight · 18/01/2021 16:17

Meeting my best friend after work for a drink, art galleries, museums, a walk. Just some adult free normal time outside the family.

Its been 10 months now since that normality.

HmmSureJan · 18/01/2021 16:21

Cinemas and browsing at Westfield with my dd Lunch out with ds on Wednesdays when he's off college.

Mostly having a holiday to look forward to.

Poppingnostopping · 18/01/2021 16:23

Eating out also for me, such a lovely thing to do once or twice a week, cheap dinner/sandwich with a friend in the week, meal out as a family on the weekend, hate cooking, takeaways ok, but eating out is my favourite everyday type of pleasure that just makes the week more fun!

Blughbablugh · 18/01/2021 16:25

Being able to wake up at the weekend and decide where we are going that day.
Being able to go out for lunch.
I never thought I would say this but going out to work rather than working from home day in day out.
Being able to plan things like day trips, my daughter's birthday, holidays etc...

Blughbablugh · 18/01/2021 16:26

Sorry op, I know you said 1 thing.

16purplecolour16 · 18/01/2021 16:26

What I miss and now consider a luxury is lunch in a cafe!

mrsmacmc · 18/01/2021 16:28

Being able to hug!

beantrader · 18/01/2021 16:29

Being able to see my parents. I normally visit once a year for a few weeks and then they come to the European country my dad is from for a few weeks every year. They live in an Asian (where my mom is from) country and by September it will be 2 yes since I've seen them Sad
