Curious as I am currently trying not to follow the news too closely since I've experienced a real mental health crisis in the past month or so.i am booked to go to a large outdoor concert in July, what are the chances it'll go ahead do you think?

Don't know about concerts but I've booked Frozen the musical in June and today had an email to say the start was delayed, so my booking will be changed.
Also going to see Olly Murs a week later so we shall see Sad

GypsyLee · 19/01/2021 16:33

Pretty slim tbh.
We are musicians and entertainers at festivals and outdoor events, everything cancelled, no work and barely any income. Sad
Hope you feel better soon, I know mh issues are awful atm.

Waspnest · 19/01/2021 16:48

I honestly don't know. I think the infection numbers etc. in July might make gigs viable but unfortunately the decisions on whether to go ahead have to be made months before that.

MrsBrew005 · 19/01/2021 16:51

I'd think they will be going ahead. They seem confident enough booking the G7 summit in England for June, that will cause a fair amount of people mixing. Plus by summer last year cases went right down, that was without the vaccine rollout!! Hopefully by end of next month we will have a better view of what the vaccines could do for the summer!! It would be so lovely to have somewhat of a normal summer!!! Hope you feel better soon Flowers

having seen that lockdown powers are extended to 17 July, definitely not looking hopeful. gutting...

Justonedayatatime11 · 24/01/2021 18:35

@porcelaine where did you see that? Sad

Ginfordinner · 24/01/2021 18:40

Glastonbury has been cancelled so I'm not optimistic about anything TBH.

tobee · 25/01/2021 01:19

I think the lockdown extension is 6 months because that's the usual time limit rather than anything else iyswim? Extension up until atm?

Just on that point

notangelinajolie · 25/01/2021 02:06

No. Not a chance of concerts. Not with an audience anyway.

Redrivershore · 25/01/2021 05:12

Yes I thought the lockdown extension was 6 months because those sorts of things are usually done in chunks of time, it would be a bit silly to have to review it every couple of months. It started in July last year.

I have got a couple of outdoor concerts at racecourses in July so there is a slim chance they may go ahead. The ones in large indoor arenas I don't expect to happen

notevenat20 · 25/01/2021 05:28

It all depends on whether a variant arrives that the current vaccines don’t work for. If that terrible thing doesn’t happen then I think Summer will be open.

Redrivershore · 25/01/2021 05:52

I hope that anything that has been postponed from last year that doesn't go ahead this year is cancelled or people offered an immediate refund if postponed so that people can get their money back, it is quite difficult sometimes to get a refund from postponed events and peoples circumstances change, it is not fair to be locked into something that was booked 1 or 2 years ago, a couple of mine were booked in late 2019 and another postponement would be 2022.

Figgyboa · 25/01/2021 06:19

Outdoor concerts, possibly yes. Indoor probably not till the end of the year.

Roselilly36 · 25/01/2021 07:07

So sorry OP, I really can’t see it happening.

Oblomov20 · 25/01/2021 07:11

No.
Next year? Maybe?

I'm due to see the Killers. Already Postponed from last year. Gutted.

BeaSmithers · 25/01/2021 07:35

No. Glastonbury is already cancelled. I think more festivals will follow suit, and I think smaller concerts will too.

TheRaccoon · 25/01/2021 08:18

@IamHyouweegobshite I also have tickets for Queen in June, but in Manchester!

I will be about 8.5 months pregnant by then and almost definitely will not want to be at a gig, I’m desperately hoping it gets cancelled Sad

MadisonAvenue · 25/01/2021 09:25

We’ve got Hella Mega (Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer) tickets carried over from last June’s postponement, rescheduled for June this year.

I can’t see it happening. There’d be around 60,000 crammed into a football stadium, many standing on the pitch (us included), and from experience there’s no way of even having 12 inches between people so social distancing of any distance would be impossible.
