All this close everything for everyone. Has there been cases at your child KW school or nursery since Christmas ? Both mine absolutely fine so far.

Not yet. DS1 in KW bubble and DS2 in preschool. Only one case in school since September (not DS1's class). Hopefully it'll continue as long as possible.

Reception teacher friends bubble of KW burst with 3 teachers testing positive and 4 kids.

A bubble in my school of KW kids has burst, a family sent 4 kids in awaiting results which can back positive...

Had a child not come in Monday as woke up with temperature.

Wont burst bubble as no contact for 48 hours. They are getting tested but if positive it won't change things. Other than how long they are off!

@3littlewords

Not my dc school but a local school has bubbles closed as a parent sent a child in awaiting test results which turned out to be positive Shock

They need to start fining for things like this too.

NickMarlow · 12/01/2021 17:24

Dd's school is fine but one locally had 5 bubbles burst over the weekend. They stayed closed on Monday so that's ONLY from key worker and vulnerable children.

This has just happened at DS's nursery. I'm so cross. I'm not a keyworker but plenty of the parents there are. Nursery literally ask you every time you come within a metre of the door whether anyone in the household is awaiting a test result!

Yes, key worker bubble had a positive case on Friday so all self isolating. They didn't have a single case all last term 🤷‍♀️

Ellieboolou33 · 12/01/2021 18:10

It does make me wonder as a friend of mine sent a swab back and she didn't swab, it came back positive!

CookEatRepeat · 12/01/2021 18:11

Yes, one bubble popped yesterday. Not mine.

mrsanflowerpot · 12/01/2021 18:15

We've had two of seven burst in my (secondary), three of seven have burst in my children's (primary).

Ruby1991 · 12/01/2021 18:16

I work in a nursery and we closed a bubble yesterday

ExeterMummaMia · 12/01/2021 18:20

DH is a primary teacher. 2 bubbles have burst (the KW children are still in year group bubbles), one last Fri and another yesterday. Thankfully not DH's bubble yet!

They had no bubble bursts for KW at all during lockdown 1, for comparison. However, its really hard to make a meaningful comparison as there are now 15 kids per year group KW bubble compared with 12 kids for the entire school during lockdown 1 (they had so little children in during lockdown 1 that it was just 1 KW bubble of all ages grouped together, as opposed to now where its in year groups)! So its far more likely for bubbles to burst now.

bluechameleon · 12/01/2021 18:21

I work in a school and none of our bubbles has burst yet but two staff are off because their children's bubbles have.

I agree, large four figure fine and removal of the school place.

It’s quite clear the guidance needs to change to echo Scotland and both parents needing to be key workers, plus it should only be for the school hours where they are working out of the home.

SinkGirl · 12/01/2021 18:33

My twins are at a specialist school so all pupils have EHCPs and are supposed to attend full time.

We lasted two days before a staff member had a positive lateral flow test. Within a couple of days a letter from the school saying all pupils now on a rota of two days a week each due to the impact of testing on staff numbers.

They didn’t have a single case through 2020 and were fully open all year.

loopyapp · 12/01/2021 18:35

Eldest in yr 7, whole school and staff were tested last Tuesday, Friday and will be tomorrow. Just under 100 people and not a single positive or even an isolation waiting results following symptom onset.

Fembot123 · 12/01/2021 18:39

They’d struggle to fine etc on hearsay.

FrancesHaHa · 12/01/2021 18:40

Yes, one of the years has in DDs primary. About 7 kids sent home to isolate.

We had several periods of self isolation last term, and most of the key worker parents are NHS staff (some social workers) so it's going to be tough if bubbles keep bursting.

LaLaLandIsNoFun · 12/01/2021 18:40

Primary school in tiny village - 2 burst bubbles so far since September.

Maladicta · 12/01/2021 18:45

The special school where I teach is closed due to a small outbreak in the teaching staff, our first in-school transmission cases.

zzzebra · 12/01/2021 18:46

In nursery since July. In that time there have been one case, but in a different bubble. That was in around October.

itsgettingweird · 12/01/2021 19:21

True but you can change law to cover this. They can also require all children's test to have school named. And date the test is registered and school gets test result. If child has been in since test they refer for fine.

This type of approach doesn't sit well with me because I think it's becoming to authoritarian but if parents and population aren't taking it seriously we may have no choice.

Dontrainonmyparade · 12/01/2021 19:39

Yes, youngest child returned last Weds. Reported that bubble burst at the weekend, now isolating.

Fembot123 · 12/01/2021 19:43

I agree, it’s reckless and outrageous

Maryann1975 · 12/01/2021 20:04

All these safe early years settings with positive cases. Did COVID forget to read boris’ statement that these are safe places and COVID should not be entering the premises?
Our primary school popped a bubble today. I think that’s 3 Out of 10 overall since September.
