Once it is all over I am looking forward to a leisurely coffee and cake with a friend in a nice warm coffee shop.

Not living with a permanent sense of doom

Bellie99 · 11/01/2021 17:46

Spontaneity!

Spontaneity!
Yes being able to say 'yes let's meet up this afternoon' without having to make sure there are only two of you, considering whether you are likely to have covid, you are both exercising and neither of you have already exercised today.

The sense of doom I reckon will take a while to ease.

Going away for a lovely weekend in the lakes will be the first thing (i get that's not an everyday thing but its something we did quite regularly and dreaming about it is getting me through!)
Also just being alone at home. I have 4dc's and whilst i love them dearly and theyre no trouble, i like my own company!
Oh and putting on makeup (no point atm) and Being able to get my nails & eyebrows done!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/01/2021 17:52

Just being able to pop out for non essential things! Like a coffee or wander round the book shop.

TheNinjaWife · 11/01/2021 17:53

Planning ahead.

Karmatime · 11/01/2021 17:55

Planning things, anything from a shopping trip, a coffee with a friend, a cocktail, a family gathering, a holiday, and knowing it can happen.

orangejuicer · 11/01/2021 17:56

Cinema, if there are any left.

ImInStealthMode · 11/01/2021 17:56

Went for a long (distanced) walk with a couple of friends yesterday and it was torture walking past a closed country pub about 3/4 of the way in and not being able to pop in for something warming! I think that'll be my first thing!

(We're in Jersey and not in a complete lockdown, before anyone pounces)

Even more painful was that we could see Guernsey where they're totally restriction free and were all likely tucking into pub roasts and pints with family and friends as we stared longingly at them across the water Sad

IcedPurple · 11/01/2021 17:57

Picking out my outfit for the day (no masks!) - even if it's only a day in the office!

A few casual, unplanned drinks with friends in the pub.

Just generally, not having to stand on yellow circles and ensure you're 2 metres away from everyone at all times. Sounds trivial, but it creates a general air of tension and unease.

Fgs1 · 11/01/2021 17:58

Getting dressed up and going for cocktails on a weekend.

Torture! That's how i felt when we (mcr) were in tier 3 and family in liverpool in tier 2! At least they're in misery with us now Grin

ChristmasinJune · 11/01/2021 18:30

My family meet ups.
We're a close family and used to meet up to mark pretty much every occasion going.
I admit I'd roll my eyes a bit about another family gathering being organised...... now? Now I would give my right arm to be at one. It's coming up to a year since the last proper one Sad

HerRoyalNotness · 11/01/2021 18:54

Being out in public with a slight sniffle/cold and. It feeling as if everyone is judging you (It’s not covid!)

SilverOtter · 11/01/2021 18:57

Going swimming, getting my hair cut and going out for a drink.

Little chats with acquaintances not friends. Like I need assisted travel when I use the train. I’ve known most of the staff who do that at my local station and my most regular stations to travel to for years (20 years in one case) and we always chat, have a laugh when I see them. But we’re not friends so we’re not in touch now

Yes, I also miss casual encounters like this. There's no way to replicate them in lockdown. It's not like you're going to do a Zoom chat with that nice lady who works at the ticket counter in the local train station! But little encounters like this add to the happiness and humanity of everyday life. At least they do for me.
OverTheRainbow88 · 11/01/2021 19:06

Seeing my parents without worrying I might kill them.!!!

BigPlanes · 11/01/2021 19:07

A pint in a pub. Not a massive drinker but a few pints in a mildly busy pub, maybe with some live music and some pals. Nothing dressy, just comfy.

ChalkDinosaur · 11/01/2021 19:08

Baby/toddler groups. Never thought I'd say that 🤣

Also lunches and coffees with friends.

Florelei · 11/01/2021 19:08

Going swimming, going on holiday and going into work!
