Once it is all over I am looking forward to a leisurely coffee and cake with a friend in a nice warm coffee shop.

Dressing smartly for work
Wearing proper shoes
Mooching around a bookshop ( when they were open I couldn’t mooch properly with a mask on)

However I’m not looking forward to normal spending!

wildraisins · 11/01/2021 19:14

Coffee shops, meeting up with friends, going to other people's houses and having people over at mine, playing board games IRL, just hanging out with people, catching up with friends' children who we haven't seen for a year and some babies that we barely even know yet!

Most of all seeing my family who live 200 miles away, but that definitely doesn't feel like a "little" thing at the moment! :(

hopeishere · 11/01/2021 19:14

A coffee alone in a coffee shop
A back massage

LH1987 · 11/01/2021 19:14

Feeling free to go to the grocery store if I just need one or two items as opposed to a big shop.

Also, popping out to buy myself a sandwich for lunch.

Bananachip · 11/01/2021 19:22

Having a lunchtime browse round the shops and getting a Pret posh cheese and pickle baguette for my lunch.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 11/01/2021 19:24

I know just what you mean about casual encounters, I was so excited when I saw my favourite bus driver that I actually texted one of my best friends about it! Plus the postman who changed his rounds so doesn't deliver to my address anymore, the lady at the local supermarket etc. All of those little things make such a difference. Personally although I am not a glamour puss I cannot wait to have my hair done, be threaded and massaged etc. For my children they really want soft play to be open again - as soon as it opened last time I took them!

Cattitudes · 11/01/2021 19:38

@Sorryusernamealreadyexists

The school run Grin
You realise that for years to come on MN anyone who complains about the school run will be met with 'well think yourself lucky, during Covid we weren't able to do the school run/ go to endless soft play reception parties/ have a child over for a play date.'

I agree about those incidental encounters, being able to chat to a family you bump into in the park without breaking the one other person per household guidelines.

Being able to just pop to the shop without any real reason or preparation or masks or social distancing

MoirasRoses · 11/01/2021 19:47

Popping to my parents.. the joy of seeing my children playing with their Grandparents. Actually going into my daughters nursery for the first time ever! I moved her in July. I did get to look round briefly but I’ve never actually been in to see what they get up too!
Cafes hugely. I really miss going out for lunch. We did it most weekends!
Softplay .. I’ve always loved softplay. I enjoy the slides as much as my kiddos 😂 god do I miss running around with my eldest or sitting watching her play with a new friend she’s made! Then having a drink & a cake together. Indoor, warm activities. I’ll never ever take them for granted again. I hate winter. I hate the cold 😩

Caesargeezer · 11/01/2021 19:54

Popping out without having to check I have my mask with me.

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 11/01/2021 19:58

Rebuilding my business.

Also, Pizza Hut buffet.

10storeylovesong · 11/01/2021 20:04

A brew at my mum's.

Lemons1571 · 11/01/2021 20:06

Returning home with the whole family not covered in mud

lazeeboy · 11/01/2021 20:07

Seeing family I haven't seen since last February Sad

covetingthepreciousthings · 11/01/2021 20:10

Coffee shops and agree about those casual encounters. I work in a shop, and I miss seeing all my regular customers. A few I haven't seen since before the first lockdown and I keep wondering what's happened to them Sad I don't even know all their names but it's funny how much it can affect you not seeing someone like that.

I think also the theatre, probably a way off that sadly but I'd love to take the kids to see a show like the Lion King.

Jessuk86 · 11/01/2021 20:19

Toddler group mornings then going back to one of our houses for lunch miss that so much

bachsingingmum · 11/01/2021 20:31

Singing with my friends in the same place.

LizzieMacQueen · 11/01/2021 20:50

Not having my workspace in a corner of my kitchen.

FeelinSpendy · 11/01/2021 21:22

Hugging my family and sitting in the kitchen having a coffee with them.
My nephews are growing up quickly and I haven’t hugged them since March. I’m worried they’ll move into a no-hugging phase before I’m allowed to hug them again.
I’m so lucky that I live near my parents and see them every week to drop off food etc, but it’s so awful having to stay away from them.

Notnownotneverever · 11/01/2021 21:25

Having a coffee with my dad. And going in to my mum and dad’s home. I haven’t since been in side since early March 2020.

LakeFlyPie · 11/01/2021 22:42

Hugging my parents and being together as a family, seeing them with DC again. Giving my 95 year old grandma a big hug, haven't seen her since Xmas 2019 Sad. She's been so stoic and positive through all of this, hasn't left her flat for nearly a year.

4Minions2CallMyOwn · 11/01/2021 22:45

DH and I were discussing this evening how much we miss going for a meal at Nando’s and then to the cinema. It used to be our favourite night out and we totally took it for granted. Who would have thought this all could happen.....

cheapskatemum · 11/01/2021 22:46

Meeting a friend for coffee - inside!
