I am. Are you?

I have a shitload on my plate at the moment so haven't started digging through articles recommending it or saying it's all nonsense to do so, but with the 70% more infectious strain we are doing it. Wondered if anyone had seen anything related to the new strain and what new precautions we could take?

I have never done this and don't think there is a need to. It's my understanding that the virus can't live for long on a hard surface.

But if it makes you feel better to do it, then carry on.

The virus does live on hard surfaces. That is why you see hospital staff cleaning everything. There have been some really good interviews with proper virologists and public health experts all explaining this. I don't know why people don't accept this. It isn't compulsory, of course you can choose. It isn't fair to ridicule people who are being careful though.

Yes we've started again.

During the first lock down we washed shopping, quarantined letters and parcels then as it rolled round to July/August we loosened up and just washed our hands after touching them as numbers were low but lately as the numbers have went up we've started washing again. Takes for ever but we're a vulnerable family so it's worth it.

StrangeAddiction · 16/01/2021 16:27

The virus can live on certain surfaces for 3 days. I've heard of people (local and on the news) who weren't going out at all and can only think they've caught it from shopping or mail.

I agree that it’s probably a good idea , especially at the moment, but sadly I just can’t be arsed Blush Grin

Never stopped! If it is stuff that can be quarantined for three days (tins, bottles) I do that instead. Perishables, fresh stuff, chilled stuff gets wiped down. All post gets quarantined for three days, also.

Topseyt · 16/01/2021 17:04

No. I have never done this and have no intention of starting now.

SionnachRua · 16/01/2021 17:06

Noooope. I have plenty of other things to do with my time!
