I'm on day 12 of symptoms. Nothing seems to be changing. Still coughing. Still very tired. But feel guilty that I am not doing more

According to what I could find on the Zoe app:-

  • 15% still have symptoms after 4 weeks
  • 10% still have symptoms after 8 weeks
  • 5% still have symptoms after 12 weeks - these would be the Long Coviders.

And the NHS wesbite on recovery from Covid says in most cases the fatigue resolves in 2-3 weeks.

I just don't know what to expect.... and I know you can't tell me. What's your experience?

I've never been so bad I couldn't get out of bed... although I am keen to get into it earlier than usual, as well as having a little snooze in the afternoon. Which I think I'm due now. Because I've done some fruitful work (2 phone calls and an email) and now I'm knackered.

PuzzledObserver I agree. I've had full-on flu twice and wanted to die both times, Covid wasn't like that. I had it in March, it lasted about 9 days, I had one temperature reading over 38C, otherwise all under 37C. There was one dark night of the soul where my chest felt really hot (temperature normal though) and I thought, is this where it gets into my lungs and really causes havoc, but I just took more doses of my asthma preventer inhaler on the grounds that they contain steroids to combat inflammation. Then I fell asleep, and woke the next day knowing I was past the worst. Fatigue & headaches carried on in a tail of about 3-4 weeks, but I still get occasional recurrences that I 'recognise' as feeling similar. I had no taste or smell symptoms except a few months later I had 48 hours of quite extreme taste alteration, couldn't eat anything because it all tasted horrible, which went away as quickly as it arrived, thank goodness. Take it easy; don't surrender to guilt, you've been seriously ill. You do what you can and practise lots of self-love (no, not THAT, you need to conserve energy 😄).

@Dogatetheleftovers I'm a week or so ahead of you and I have found the online nhs service great. You can fill in details and they will call you back very promptly.
I called them regarding my oxygen levels as I was getting wild readings between 90-99 and it was very up and down.

She told me that given I have pneumonia (which it had progressed to by this point) my days should be between 94-97 and I would find it very uncomfortable at 94 because it was below what I am used to. Then she told me when I use the oximeter to sit quietly for 15 mins, attach it, make sure my hands were warm enough and wait 45 seconds for it to stabilise before reading it. This did resolve a lot of my issues but it hung around 94 for two days before going back up.

I feel your pain. I spent a week waiting to see if this was it and now I would go to the hospital - the mental toll of this virus is as bad as the physical.

I am marginally improved- every day is an improvement on the previous. I am far from
