Just as title says? I'm finding it marginally easier this time because school have for their shit together. But there's still A LOT of tv.

Dds in reception. She's on her tablet a lot!!! Like hell of A lot!!!

Both of us are working full time, she does the school work set for her but other then that she's either playing alone or on her iPad. Normally her iPad.
I have zero quilt!

WankPuffins · 11/01/2021 14:59

None. My children don't watch TV.

(They just spend every second they can playing shit games or watching YouTube on iPads. But saying they don't watch tv makes me sound great).

TweeterandtheMonkeyman · 11/01/2021 15:03

If by TV you mean YouTube- then loads....loads and loads ... and loads 😬🙈😂

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 11/01/2021 15:04

Mine don't have time for TV during the day as school have full live online lessons from 9-3, they are fed up of sitting down by the end of the day, as I am, as its me getting them online for each class and then assisting for the whole thing! Also have a preschool child to entertain at the same time.
After school is finished they run around like mad things, I wish they would watch a bit of TV 😂

SlothWithACloth · 11/01/2021 15:13

My dc do their school work, read, do occasional arts, play in the garden and go for walks and bike rides, bake, blah blah etc etc and there are still hours to fill up with tv and tablets!
We watch a film most evenings as well.
I’m not worrying about if they’re doing all the other things.

LickEmbysmiling · 11/01/2021 15:18

not tv but roblox and minecraft, at least she is interacting. We have tons of stuff planned if covid buggers off - its about balance.

GalesThisMorning · 11/01/2021 15:24

Loads. Who's gonna be the first to write an actual number????

Okay I will. DS 4 is probably watching between 3- 4 hours a day. There I said it and now you can all feel better about yourselves Grin

He wakes at 6.20 every morning without fail and DH and I are both wfh. He refuses to occupy himself for more than 10 minutes at a time... we do Lego, arts and crafts, cooking, play action heroes, build dens... and still there are just too many hours to fill in the day and at the same time not enough time to get shit done. TV is saving our sanity tbh.

ilkleymoorbartat · 11/01/2021 15:38

Hahaha @WankPuffins and @GalesThisMorning
It's reassuring that we're all in the same boat.

Ah! Plans for when this is over. Imagine.

williowrosenburg · 11/01/2021 17:18

@GalesThisMorning
That is seriously nothing! I would take 4 hours of screen time as a pretty good day!! 🤣

Wankerchief · 11/01/2021 17:20

An absolute shit tonne. Hours upon hours
And it will be more from today because i have to self isolate

LST · 11/01/2021 17:23

Shed loads. And tablets and mind numbing games. They do play out when they can but its been really shit weather so not for long.

ginsparkles · 11/01/2021 17:26

Mine is year 4. She watches some at lunchtime and then is allowed to speak to her friends on their tablets after 2.30. She's doing school work from 9.00 - 12 and then from 1-2.30.

BogRollBOGOF · 11/01/2021 17:35

If it's not online/ remote learning, they're gawping at the screen of the TV/ tablet.
It's winter, the garden turns into a mudpit easily, so I keep them off it until about March in order to have grass surviving into the spring, otherwise it all needs seeding and doesn't recover until May/ June.
The conservatory is too cold to spread out and play in.
There's no fresh inspiration for playing, no trading pokemon cards, no social interaction with peers.
No casual indoor leisure such as swimming for fun in 10 months.

They've not had normal childhood social development updates for the majority of the past 10 months, it's no wonder that they don't know what else to do with themselves.

Twattergy · 11/01/2021 17:48

Year 4 DS watches 7 til 8.30am then 12.15 to 1pm (lunch chill out) then from 3pm can do tv or video games. Both me and DH are working full time from home and splitting 'school' sessions into morning and afternoon each day.

SalaciousCrumble · 11/01/2021 17:53

I'm being fairly strict at the moment so they only get TV after 4pm (then a good solid 2 hours or so before bed) but no doubt that will slide. It's the weekends I'm worried about - we're so fed up after a week of homeschool they probably had about 8 hours of TV on Sunday - dragged them out for a few hours for a walk but otherwise it was just TV as much as they wanted Confused

2boysand1princess · 11/01/2021 17:57

I wish mine would watch tv. Some really decent kids stuff on! Instead they are glued to their iPads YouTube/roblox and forgot the name of the other one.
I caught my eldest playing online with a friend whilst on the laptop doing maths lessons with his teacher. Didn’t realise he could multitask! Next time he can do his homework and help with the housework at the same time!

WhoLettheCatOut · 11/01/2021 18:52

Schoolwork only took about 90 mins today so there's been a LOT of tv. Not as much as last time but still lots of screen and little learning.

higglepiggley · 11/01/2021 19:18

A lot dd is almost 5 and can't entertain herself
It keeps me Sane 😂.

ellenleaves · 11/01/2021 19:38

Mine (5 and 6) are allowed tv before we get started (7:30-8:30ish) then at lunchtime. My eldest is allowed games when she's finished her work for an hour and sometimes the younger one watches tv.

However, we use screens a lot for some learning and exercise so not counting that!

Dee1975 · 11/01/2021 19:39

Yep loads. Anything to keep them quiet why I try to work 9 to 530 ....

Prufrocks · 11/01/2021 19:47

Mine did 2 hours today which I considered a real win.

They spent the weekend with their dad who proudly claimed that they watched no tv all weekend. I was suitably impressed.

@williowrosenburg

Erm... that's just TV time. Tablet/ apps are classed as educational activities and so don't count...

Mum of the year I ain't but we're all fed, safe, happy(ish) and DH and I have held onto our jobs. That counts as winning in 2020/21 Grin !!

donaldbump · 11/01/2021 20:01

I was dreading opening this thinking I’d see a lot of holier than thou posts but thank f3k! Yes mine are also watching a ridiculous amount. I’m feeling the guilt but I’ve also got to work. Going to give BBC Bitesize a go tomorrow as at least that’s educational.

Frazzled2207 · 11/01/2021 20:03

far too much (along with playing with their tablets). But we do what we can in terms of getting homeschool done .It is what it is.

Littleguggi · 11/01/2021 20:04

Well considering my working day is 7.5hrs, I would say 7.5hrs. But in all honesty, it's usually just on in the background. Although she will sit and watch maybe a solid 1 hour at a time.
